  1. Marinco has always been my go to choice. I have a cord I made up over 10 years ago with Marinco adaptors and it’s been going strong since the first.

  6. Yes, the car actually had much more ice on it than the picture shows. Thankfully I was able to clean it at a car wash in Kansas the next day. Other than the four hours in the snow and ice, the driving has been very easy. I’m amazed by the comfort and mileage (34 mpg over 2450 miles)of this thing. Yes, I’m doing this solo sort of. My wife and I talk by phone frequently and I’m enjoying listening to my music collection. Weather reports look promising for the return trip. Thank you for the well wishes.

  7. Glad you've made the distance in 3 days. Your Audi looks like it ran the gauntlet of weather issues. Ha! Hoping you get a good night's sleep and you are ready to soak up all the great information tomorrow. Are you traveling solo?

  8. <p style="text-align: left;">Yes Pete, I arrived in Hohenwald today about 1. It was a mostly easy drive with the exception of the snow storm that closed I84 from Rock Springs to Rawlins WY for 6 hours. Google rerouted me South to Craig, CO on a narrow snow covered road for 40 miles that turned to dirt for another 40 miles. From Craig, I went through Steamboat Springs and over a near white out blizzard over Rabbit Ears Pass before connecting with I70 and making my way to Denver. It actually wasn’t that much further in distance, but saved me at least 4 hours. I stopped at Oliver and met Heather when I hit town. I’m now in Linden, TN at the delightful Commodadore Hotel. I highly recommend it when in the area. The owners are great. They’ve done a great job of refurbishing this old place and have yummy food and music on weekends. Can’t wait for my Orientation tomorrow. Bye for now. </p>

  9. SeaDawg, I resealed the upper shell yesterday and waiting for it to cure. I'm hoping the Oliver logo lens is not leaking because that was resealed while I was at the plant. I'm not sure how to remove the A/C cover inside to check the 4 bolts. When I take off the filter I can see 2 Bolts but not sure how to get to the ones in the back. Using a syringe filled with caulk I was able to get under the marker lights very easily. I hope I got it and I think I'll wait a few days before doing the water test.

  10. I can add a recommendation for that 3.5 F150. My 2016 model has been flawless. I bought it with the spray bed liner installed (do not get the cheap plastic one). The only aftermarket item I added is a hard cover for the bed. Expensive, but essential to protect goods from weather and theft. We have been through the West without any trouble, pulling up mountains, down mountain roads (which I find more challenging for the driver), and in strong crosswinds. Love my truck!

  11. I agree with Randy and Overland, I wouldn't buy anything unless you're sure it can be returned. I tow with an f150 with a ladder rack with 2 kayaks on top, they extend at least 2 feet past the rear of the truck and don't come close to the trl. As far as weight distribution, I would hold off on that too, as long as you don't exceed the rear axle weight rating the oliver will pull fine without it. If you go over the axle rating, too much weight is removed from the front and your steer axle will be too light, hence the need for weight distribution. Air bags will level out the truck but they don't redistribute weight, I use them on my truck. Steve

  12. John, what is the weight of the entire Supertruss system? All that mass has to be considered part of the truck payload. An Andersen is under 60 lbs. I have to admit that it looks very capable and rigid when the chains are tensioned. It will seriously affect the departure angle of the truck. I am not sure what will happen when you go into a severe dip and jam it hard into the road surface.... it could use a massive roller at the low point. I agree that you should do some in person testing and careful maneuvering before doing such a radical alteration. https://www.etrailer.com/tv-review-torklift-super-truss-hitch-extender-tle1532. They indcate a max deadweight of 6500/ 650 pounds, so it would be overweight with a heavily loaded Oliver II, but adequate with a more normal load. I really think it should be used with an Anderson to provide a better safety factor. If you can post a detailed pic of your rack it would help. Is it a one piece welded assembly or bolted together pieces? If the latter, could it be raised up in the back for additional vertical clearance? As a final note, how do you get to stuff in your bed? Sliding drawer? John Davies Spokane WA

  13. I wouldn't buy anything until I had the trailer connected and the lid installed and measured it all out. Looking at Johns picture of his attached, that lid will be right about at the height of the top of the propane housing and if it only extends 12" past the tailgate you would need to be in a serious turn situation to contact it. Just my opinion

  14. Towing a 7k lbs trailer with a half ton pick up requires a weight distributing hitch. Get our your magnifying glass and start checking the fine print in your owners manual. This will not be an easy task, but you have to do the math yourself. Pay attention to the small print and asterisks. I would be happy to wager serious money that a half ton GMC pick up without a WDH has a towing capacity of about 50% of the rated capacity. I town the LE2 with a 2016 F-150 that is rated for 9,900 lbs. When you get that magnifying glass working you find that without a WDH the limit is 4,950 lbs. BTW.. I am positive that the F-150 could pull the 7k LE2 without a WDH safely all day long. Most 1/2 pickups will. But if you get in an accident any lawyer worth his salt will try to pin blame on you. So, how deep are your pockets. Here is an article that says it much better than I can. https://www.hardworkingtrucks.com/get-sued-tow-trailer-with-pickups/ The Anderson is well worth the money in liability protection alone. Pretty easy to hook and unhook once you get used to it. Probably the best upgrade you can get on the LE2. Good Luck, Scotty

  15. I received a PM asking about this mod, and I realized that the forum had lost a ton of the pictures I uploaded. Also I cannot edit my first post, so I am just going to replace the lost pics here. If there are any specific questions please ask for clarification.

  16. Indeed, in some Sates one is criminally (if not socially) liable for unsecured firearms. But, I think that it is likely that we just might not be talking about the same thing here. Having a firearm on your person and/or ready for possible use is a bit different than securing a firearm that is not being readily used or subject to unauthorized use. Bill

  17. Never lock up a firearm? Get serious. When I leave home, any that I don't have with me are locked in my safe. If I step out of my trailer to run an errand, and leave one there, it is locked. When my grandkids come to visit, my safe stays locked.
