  1. I just updated mine yesterday from white to black because the white ones were showing some mold/mildew stains and were getting hard to keep clean. For all 3 large windows and 1 small bathroom window on my Elite II, I ordered 18' of the weather-stripping (H109-376 from Pelland Enterprises), just to make sure I had a little extra. Before and after photos below. It cuts easily with a new, sharp utility knife blade. Use a carpenters square to get a nice perpendicular /square cut end. And note that each window gasket on the 3 big windows is a slightly different length since the center vertical upright is a little different location on each window. So use the original gasket from each window as your starting point. I made mine a little long to start and then did a couple of install, check, remove, trim, re-install go-rounds to get mine right. My original white gaskets were cut a little short and had a gap at the ends, as you can see in the picture of the original white gasket. There was a gap at top and bottom at each end because they were cut a bit short at the factory.

  2. Landrover, We dealt with love bugs and no see’ums when we lived in Kingsland, Georgia. We used a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water to help remove love bugs off the paint as soon as possible. They sure can make a mess. We called the no see’ums flying set of teeth with wings..brutal. -Patriot

  3. Hi all -- hope you are all safe and as gainfully employed as you want to be. I'd been toying with adding some stick-on tiles as a backsplash to both kitchen and bathroom areas. Finally saw a couple of different applications in an Oliver and decided I'd give it a go. Ordered these: https://smile.amazon.com/LONGKING-Backsplash-Stickers-Talavera-Mexican/dp/B07DR8F44K/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Peel+and+Stick+Backsplash+Tile+Stickers%2C+Gray+Talavera+Mexican+Tiles&qid=1588613058&s=home-garden&sr=1-1 --- then $30 and since I can't be out camping, decided to at least work in the Oliver. One package of 10 tiles was more than enough, even with one square (3x3 tiles; about 1 square foot) bunged up and pulled off. The tiles are pretty sticky, but can come off if needed but I suspect will stay stuck pretty well.

  4. I will replace mine today - will measure what I take off - and post - I don't remember how much I ordered. Update: Each window took 58 inches +/- a touch. 14.5 will do it, I ordered 17' got about 17'. I like the look much better.

  5. Strangely enough, I have about 3 feet left over, so I think Pelland was a bit generous with what they sent me. I didn't measure how long the bulk length was that I received before I started cutting it, but Pelland must have sent me ~20'.

  6. In regards to the push-in Shark Bite vs crimped..... most crimp fittings have enough space to install two rings. If you are anal like me, for a fitting that will be really hard to reach in the future (inside a sheetrock wall) double the clamps and you will sleep better. And use brass fittings instead of plastic. The steel rings are less than $0.50 each so it is cheap insurance. Water running inside a house for a month.... yikes! I turn off the main valve if we leave for more than a couple of days. Water damage is no fun. John Davies Spokane WA

  7. I'll only add - the shark bites- although much easier to install - do not have my confidence of lasting in a vibration laden environment. I have personally seen them fail in a static home environment more than once. One instance saw water run for a month - before the owner returned to a very wet home, and a heck of a water bill. The fitting had been installed by a competent plumber in a remodel. I have the necessary tools - due to a former DYI build - and although expensive for a one and done job- that is the way I would go. What is it worth to be driving down the pothole filled road- and not worry about the damn fitting letting go - additionally, you will most likely need some measure of tubing - so as has been mentioned, go ahead and relocate to a warmer spot. And make it one and done - forever. Good luck and happy trails.

  8. I've read that the killer hornets can sting through a bee keepers suit. And can kill a honeybee every 14 seconds. Just what we need, with declining pollinating bee populations everywhere.

  10. Love bugs are something I do not miss. I had good luck with P21s wiper washer booster getting them off though - still use it in all my cars even though lovebugs aren't a problem where we are now. Otherwise, I was going to get tear-offs to keep them coming. Wonder what would protect the gelcoat well -- they turn acidic and actually etch paint if left on.

  11. 17’, per Mossemi. 2’ for the bath window and 5’ each for the larger ones. I was just about to go ahead and order some, even though you’re right that it seems too expensive for what it is.

  13. Love bugs, hah, in Washington we now have these delightful killers..... “Beekeepers have reported piles of dead bees with their heads ripped off, an alarming sight in a country with a rapidly declining bee population.” https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/03/us/washington-giant-murder-hornets/index.html This is not a joke......😳 I’m not sure what the best campground defense would be.... a .410 shotgun?
