  1. We enjoy camping at State Parks, Army Corps of Engineers, and other Federal parks around the nation. We camped at Cumberland Mountain SP Crossville TN earlier this week. There's a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course next to the State Park, too.

  2. I recently had my LE2 wheel bearings repacked by a local RV repair shop. The technician let me know that while the bearings and seals were in great shape, the grease itself was beginning to turn black. My LE2 had slightly less than 6k miles of use - all from 2016, when they were repacked. For those folks who are recent Ollie owners, Oliver's recommendation to repack every 6k seems very solid.

  3. Tomorrow Carole & I get to see a 2017 LE2 up close and personal. Thanks to the referral program and good hearted owners, we will be driving a couple of hours north of us courtesy of Stan & Linda, Hull#201. As I have revealed we began with smaller fivers, then looked at bigger fivers, found 1 or 2 that we loved but the lure of the well engineered f/g egg has brought us back. Whatever concerns we have can be addressed by a tour. At least we are settled on 1 thing. We don't want a large unit. We want mobility, ease of travel, quality, and flexibility. We think Oliver can fill our needs. Our short list is getting shorter and tomorrow will add much to the decision process. Thanks Stan & Linda!

  4. Interesting. We picked up last May and have done about 12,000 miles since. Getting ready to do another 4,ooo starting next week through June. I'll get mine repacked as soon as we return. Mike

  5. As our community of owners grows, I can see the need to examine our topic headings to facilitate easy retrieval. That realization hit home when Jason created a separate heading for the Oliver Technical Service Bulletins. What a great approach! No need to dig through multiple topics or engage the search function. Are there other headings needed? What about a separate heading for videos, Word documents, etc.? Not sure if our Forum Moderators can create new headings for us. Seems we are constantly welcoming new owners, which is a good thing, and they frequently have the same questions/concerns as previous owners. I am not sure if our headings or subheadings are as helpful as they could be. As a contributing member on our Forum, I struggle to find my own previous postings which might help new owners. The postings are all there, they just get buried under a topic heading which is not always what would be my search topic. Oh well, maybe it is just me. Buzzy

  6. Since DavidS was kind enough to post a Battery Charge Status chart for the Trojan AGM batteries, I thought that there just might be others that would be interested in a similar chart for the Trojan T-105's. So, here it is! Bill

  7. I wish I had known that way back when. I visited Yosemite in July 2002 on a backpacking trip and was totally bummed. Yosemite falls was just a trickle, I drew an arrow to the wet spot in my pictures and labeled the falls otherwise you would not even have known it was a there! I didn't realize how things dried up there in the summers. It was still stunningly beautiful though. I love the high sierras. Hope you have a wonderful trip! Yvonne

  8. Hi STEVEnBETTY, I have not heard from the company. I ordered my Privacy Room around February 15. The expectation was for Italy to take 90 to 120 days before the product would arrive in the US. I placed a reminder in my calendar to inquire on May 15, which would be around the 90 day mark. I did ask to have all items shipped together and the US distributor agreed to my request. I do hope to receive my shipment no later than July 1. I will post here as events unfold. Buzzy

  9. Such a bummer I can't make, be sure to take lots of pictures of all that's going on. Sounds like it should be a great event. Congratulations Hardrock for setting up, promoting and coordinating what seems like the first really major display of the OTT family.

  10. Update on my solar charging situation. I got a call back from Ryan at Blue Sky who took Boz's place for troubleshooting support. Prior to his call I inspected the wiring hook ups to the controller and they looked and felt secure. I then carefully tried to insert the controller into the box clearing any interferance that I could while monitoring charger output. I was able to get the cover on and all 4 screws firmly engaged but not enough to compress the cover onto the components and wiring and the charging operation continued. For now I figured "close enough" and then put a couple of strips of gorilla tape over the cover to the box to prevent movement if the screws back off, (unlikely). I will continue to monitor for normal operation, but did think that I could use 1/4" spacers and longer screws as more of a final home brew solution if I don't see any more anomolies. Ryan thought that I might have a soft solder joint from the prior compression interferance. If I have another anomolie I will probably send him the controller for inspection and repair. I think ultimately that Oliver has an opportunity to make an improvement in its installation drawings relative to wiring routing and clearances of components since this condition has occured for others. More as it develops. George

  11. All We now have more than 100 attendees scheduled for the rally ! This rally is open to all. We will have a trailer "open house" to show off your individual trailers. We will have a competition Saturday afternoon and prizes will be awarded for those trailer(s) receiving the most votes. If you want to be a part of the competition, dress up your trailer and open it to those that want to view. The competition is open to all trailers, not just Oliver Travel Trailers. We have lots of activities, food and fun planned. To recieve the discount for campsite or cabins, be sure to mention that you are a part of the Oliver Rally when making reservations.

  12. Have fun. Glad you found the issue ... Is the front jack a Barker? If so, I think it's warrantied by Barker for two years. (Actually, our dometic refrigerator had a two year warranty. Don't know what they have now. But, if you have a problem after the first year, always worth looking.. ) We didn't have problems with the tongue jack for three or four years, so didn't help us, but it could help you. Sherry

  13. One other thing about the Blue Sky system. Last week we spent four delightful days boondocking on BLM land on the Colorado River outside Moab. There would be no shore power, so before the trip I wanted to be sure that I understood the Blue Sky controller, so I could verify that it was charging correctly. Reading through the manual was tough, but I found the Blue Sky web site has good videos. http://www.blueskyenergyinc.com/faq/ The Programming Your IPN Pro Remote video was especially helpful for me. Note the Chapters button just to the left of the full screen button, that allows you to jump to the section you want. David

  14. Buzzy, Thanks for posting these numbers. Before I ordered my 2016 Elite II, I did research on batteries, and ended up ordering the AGM battery upgrade. During my research I found a good web site http://www.marxrv.com/12volt/12volt.htm and they had a nice printable table for Voltage vs State of Charge http://www.marxrv.com/12volt/voltchart1.gif, and I posted it inside the pantry door. The numbers on my printed table are quite different from your numbers. I searched the internet, and mostly found the same data as in my chart. However, when I looked at the Trojan Battery web site, I found your numbers for their AGM batteries. http://www.trojanbattery.com/pdf/TrojanBattery_UsersGuide.pdf. Importantly, the numbers at the critical 50% point are quite different for deep cycle (12.06) vs. AGM (12.24). I made new table in the same green / yellow / red style, if anyone with AGM batteries wants to print it out. Thanks again, Buzzy, David

  16. I love hearing stories like this! They sure were blessed to have you find them and give them a place of peace to rest for the night. Moments like that remind me of the olden days when people were full of courage and integrity. Not that I am old - barely pushing 35 here, maybe I am just an old soul. Thank you for sharing.

  17. Reed, there is a multipage thread on the Natures Head toilet and it is quite clear that Oliver will not delete the unused black tank and plumbing and install additional fresh in its place. I plan to re-task mine eventually for additional fresh water capacity, and I would prefer that it remains as virginal as possible until then... with no interaction with nasty moisture venting from my composting toilet. I was told by the Service Dept via Anita in Sales that the NH vent "connects to the black vent". What I don't know is what else they do to the system. I don't plan on blowing up my tank, but there should be no loopholes in a system design that would allow that to happen in the first place. Murphy's Law and all that. Thanks for the pic and comments. 18. Buzzy, Not just you. I rely heavily on the "search" function. But, that requires that you first guess the right search word and then possibly wade through a bunch of additional posts that just happen to have the same search word in them. Indeed, even some posts that are in a general sense not related to a particular topic that you are looking for just might have a mention of something that you are looking for - I'm thinking of my Hohenwald, Natchez Trace, New Orleans post where you asked about the blocks under my jacks. Bottom line is that I too believe it would be helpful to have more topic categories, but, I'm sure that we both could agree that given the room that there is to work with, all our problems will not be solved. 19. It's the switch. It was loose so I turned it back and forth, tried tightening it by hand and now it works again. I still need to pull it and fix it but it's working and we're off to Yosemite tomorrow.

  20. Pete, I fondly remember those early days. We didn't do any of the above, though I certainly would recommend it. As it turned out, the hitch installer on our Volvo drilled into the battery, creating a mystery of why our rear lights didn't work at pickup. The Oliver team figured it out, we got a new battery at Walmart, with a ride from one of the guys. We left late, my brother had plane reservations the next day,vso we booked it for the panhandle at nine at night, or so. Btw, the rocket rest stop near Huntsville AL is really a sight to see. Fortunately , pretty much all was well with our trailer. We however camp several times a year within 300 miles of the factory, so not a big issue for us. If it were a three day drive, I'd hang within a hundred miles or so for the first four days, and check it all out. Honestly, I love camping in Tennessee, anyway. Beautiful state. Enjoy it. And, take tick meds for your dog. Same as in North Carolina. We don't have problems in more urban Florida, but you may find them in the middle states. Sherry

  21. This is at Indian Cove Campground on Joshua Tree National Park, California last month (February). Sites are nestled up to huge rocks. No hook ups but toilets and dumpsters close by. $10/night. Good hiking at Joshua Tree and lots of rock climbing (if you are young and daring!). This is a great park to visit and it was not very crowded. Mike

  22. I have been asked several times about the configuration of the mast that the Golight is mounted on so so here's the skinny on it. The one you saw on the other trailer was a duplicate of the one on The Outlaw Oliver. It was made at Oliver from 1/2" aluminum plate. I originally bought and installed an adjustable mount that was made for the Golight. It proved to be flimsy and I figured it would eventually break so I ditched it and designed my own. I made the mast at a swept-forward angle simply because I thought it looked better than being placed in a straight up vertical position. The one that was copied was placed vertically. The wings are there as attachment points for two antennas that send data to an on board GPS tracking/locating system. [attachment file=DSC_0911.JPG] [attachment file=DSC_0050.JPG]

  23. The Fiamma Privacy Room does not come with a skirt. Fiamma makes several different ones but we are making our own to get a better fit. Otherwise it is surprisingly tight. Another issue concerns the poles that go up against the side of the trailer. Since the sides of the Oliver are curved rather that vertical and flat, you need to drill an extra hole in the bottom of the rafter to accommodate the pin at the top of the pole. We were on Schoodic Peninsula in Acadia National Park. The NPS has built a new camping area there that is only about one year old.

  24. Thanks :) I don't mind you moving it :) I talked to Jason this morning and he is looking into ordering ours for us from them. I really like the way that they secure the sides with the clamps all the way down the canvas. We're getting the "Privacy Room", not the Ultra Lite - http://www.fiamma.com/EN/products/fiammastore/winch_awnings_enclosures/privacy_room/ He's checking on prices and everything because we want the side supports and hold downs for wind. Then on the Fiama we had on our Casita, we put straps over the top and then put poles or in this video just a broom and our rake on top to help hold the canopy down in the high winds along with double anchored tie downs with paracord. Jason said there's only been one person that's had the canopy blow up and do any damage and I've had ours our in some serious winds. On the Casita you had to worry about it pulling right out of the fiberglass, tearing holes into the camper, but on the Oliver it's designed to break off the mounts... hopefully. Strapping it down is a big deal and the extra room really adds a lot of strength when you get it complete with the wind supports :)
