  1. On my trip back from Hohenwald from picking up my new Elite the main front driver's side window shade/frame fell off and broke. My first experience with Oliver service was amazing. The channel that holds the frame to the window had cracked and split so it would not grip the brackets that hold it to the window. The Oliver service technician I spoke with said a new frame would be sent out. A few days later it arrived. This kind of service is unheard of in the RV industry, thanks Oliver.

  2. Here are a few pics of our 2-5/16” coupler. It basically appears just like the 2” one.

  3. Current groupthink culture demands that you ask people you've never met for their preferences on what you should purchase. Take plenty of pictures, mostly selfies, post them in as many places as possible, and tweet a few hundred times on how smart you were for taking everyone's advice. In no case think for yourself, do any investigation, or give any indication that your a discerning shopper. Wait - wait - you didn't get any "likes" awww, bless your little heart. However, in most cases, when asked, I try to share my experiences, and not make a judgement on which "brand" is better. I have no vested interest or ego to stroke, and truly wish the best for all. But I reserve the right to silently say to myself - well, never mind... The best TV is... the one you are happy with. RB

  4. Picked up our Elite (Hull 412) on March 18. The trip back to Vermont, 1,200 miles, was good. I did not get an Anderson anti-sway hitch and the Oliver towed perfectly. Waiting for spring to fully kick in here in the north country before our first trip.

  5. How did you get them accurately located so that they matched the holes in the aluminum tongue? They need to be a very close match.... Thanks. John Davies Spokane wa

  6. Spike, I drilled them in a drill press. If you don’t own one, they could be drilled with a large hand held. If I remember correctly, the holes were 5/8” or so. Most folks that don’t have a drill press won’t have bits that large so you may have to get some help.

  7. Overland, you might consider Thermoworks' cheaper design here: https://www.thermoworks.com/RT8100 I use that thermometer at home, as well as several Thermoworks thermometers for cooking/smoking/etc. Love their stuff.

  8. I got the 22inch (2 burner added flexibility, but still potable). But, the 17 inch is perfect too. Love this thing and got hose quick connect for Oliver gas system ( or just use small bottles). Very versatile cooking machine

  9. Here’s a much more reasonable alternative to those Pelican boxes. It’s not quite as cool though.

  10. That's a very good question. On my sister's rpod, the zamp solar port is just a wire and a fuse. But, her trailer had no other solar, so no controller. On our 2008, we had retrofitted solar, in late 2008. We added the solar port recently, and my husband wired it to our existing controller, after we checked with the manufacturer to make sure we had the controller capacity. If you don't have fixed solar on the trailer, you will need a controller, I'm pretty sure... What is in the new trailers?

  11. @John D: If you like the sensor, could you put the sensor in a freezer zip lock bag and tape it to the underside of the trailer. The zip lock will not effect its temperature readings and would keep it dry.

  13. So, are you actually suggesting that "I" should do my own homework before buying a truck? It really is so much easier to simply ask others and then blame them when I get a vehicle that doesn't do what I want it to. Bill

  14. A sign from the past, I guess they didn't have stabilizers back in the old days to help with wind and trailer movement, trainman

  15. Nan - Virtually any new 1/2 ton truck from any brand is capable of towing an Elite II. Total cargo capacity can be a little concern especially if you are looking at full timing or are a heavy packer. Be sure to look at trucks that have the integrated towing package - not only does this help with the brake controller but it also usually has things like a larger gas tank (very helpful in the West) and transmission cooler. Finally, any 1/2 ton truck that I know of will require a weight distribution hitch - primarily due to the 500 pound weight limit on the hitch ball itself. I'd recommend that you NOT get caught up on a specific brand of truck but look at them all to determine the one that you like best with the features, comfort and price that meet your needs. Bill
