  1. I'm taking the trailer to a local repair facility today Poulsboro RV in Everett WA. They are one of the largest RV and Dometic dealers in the area and said they would work on the issue for us. I'll coordinate between Oliver Factory Support and the local service center on this one and report back results. *Results* - Took trailer to a local dealership Poulbro RV where they successfully did the awning motor adjustment for free. The awning now retracts fully into the case. That dealer also did the Dexter Axle recall for free. I had them do my wheel bearing repack since it was time for that to happen. Hunting the Mystery Dometic TOOL = The dealer said that Dometic Awnings motor adjustment require a flexible tool with hex key end. They also said that tool was provided to dealers by Dometic within the installation kits of awnings. I'm trying to find out what tool that actually is...and get one so if this happens again I don't have to drag the trailer to a dealer. I put the question to Jason in service. I'll update this if I find the answer to the mystery. If anyone is doing a factory tour...see if you can spot one during the tour and take a picture.

  2. I agree, Oliver Travel Trailers are quality built and in my opinion nothing else comes close. The components are where you may find some problems. Oliver does a good job picking the best they can find but they are limited to what is available. We have had a few issues with components. Bad radio, moisture between the pains of the bathroom window and dry rotted shock bushings. In each incident, I let Cindy/Jason know of the problem and within a week, I had the replacement. I am handy so, I have corrected the problems myself and have enjoyed doing it. Each time, Oliver has offered for me to take it to a repair facility of my choice and stated they would work with them to get the parts needed and to schedule the repair. So far, I couldn't be happier with their service. Thank you Cindy and Jason! Andrew

  3. Matt, Having just placed our deposit/order for a 2020 Oliver Elite ll, what you stated above is exactly why we chose Oliver. My wife and I were very impressed with the plant tour seeing most if not all that goes into building the finest travel trailer made. It’s very apparent to us, Oliver takes pride in their product and backs it with stellar customer service. We are looking forward to delivery day and we are already booked for the National Rally in Guntersville. David & Kathy

  4. The Oliver Travel Trailer Company is unlike ANY other company with whom I've ever dealt. They are honest, hard working and go above and beyond in trying to help when things go wrong. Unfortunately, these words are so hard to believe until you experience this kind of service for yourself.   5. Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately there seems to be a race to the bottom as to RV components and there are limited choices at reasonable prices. Dometic is on my list as one of the worst. I see some have modified their Oliver’s with compressor type fridges and things, but one of the reasons for us buying the Oliver was to avoid the excessive mods we had to do to on our MH to make it more reliable and comfortable. I really hope the Oliver will prove to be better than the MH. And yes, although I wish Denso made RV components and Lexus made RV’s, I know they don’t!

  6. Yes, Oliver sent me a complete new MaxxFan Kit, installed it and all works as it should, this was after two board replacement that did not fix the problem. The problem was not in the fans PC board, but somewhere in the motor, etc., or some other electronic device in the fan. I sent back the old unit and hope Jason can let me know what they find what was the problem, would be interesting to know. trainman

  7. You are VERY wise to be concerned. I strap mine down using 1” ratchet straps. I fabricated stout attach points using steel plate, at the seat rail mount areas. I also have a really strong nylon cargo barrier net. This net would work great in your F250. It will not replace straps, but it is extra insurance in case you are in a bad accident.   9. I recently bought a 07 Nissan Titan with a tow rating of 9500 pounds for 4200 dollars. It's in great condition however it does have some miles on it. Honestly at that price I can replace anything that breaks many times over before I could justify a new truck. The 9500lb tow rating is more than enough for towing the Oliver. With a cargo capacity of 1500-ish lbs, it should have enough capacity left over for tounge weight and whatever I put in the bed of my truck. My point is, there are deals to be found out there, and I don't think there is any need to sell the farm to purchase a truck for farming.

  10. This is one of the main reasons we sell direct. The constant feedback from our owners keeps us on our toes and we continue to improve how our trailers are built. Manufacturers that sell through dealerships have less (or barely any) communication with the actual owners that buy their RVs. Dealerships don't always have the intentions and care of the manufacturer either. They can be misleading or not prioritize customer service like we do. I have been with the company since 2013. I can honestly say that there are a lot of features and components on our units that came directly from our owners experiences. Some did their own modifications. Some made suggestions. The user feedback is important to us. In the end, our goal is to build the best camper we can make, back it up with great customer service and want owners to be safe and enjoy their experiences in them. You are purchasing a premium product... we know it is more expensive than some trailers. You deserve a premium trailer and a company that cares about it. We are not always perfect, we are human, but we will do our best to make it right when problems occur. We want to thank everyone for the comments and belief in us!

LOL, apparently, the RV industry thinks that “snowballs” are the, uh, polar opposite of the standard ugly RV - (pardon the f-bombs in the article - if you’re sensitive to such things then don’t click.) https://jezebel.com/jezebel-investigates-why-are-rvs-so-fucking-hideous-1836824623 Frankly, I’d love for Oliver to trash their “swoop”. It the least attractive, and least creative thing about the trailer. I’ve actually considered removing the custom graphics from ours. I kind of miss our pure white snowball. But to answer the author’s question, the reason most RVs are so ugly isn’t because of the graphics. They’re ugly because without those graphics it’s obvious exactly what they are - cheaply built tin boxes on wheels. Olivers (and Airstrams, Scamps, Escapes, Casitas, etc.) can be snowballs and still be beautiful, because their beauty is more than skin deep.

  12. Installed the compass today easy install with soapy water solution. The hardest part was getting it centered no edges to measure to find the center. Had to use the thumb level tool.

  13. We have an Outland also, and despite being bulky it's one of the first things to get packed. It gets a lot of comments from jealous campground neighbors. I'd recommend getting an extension hose for it so that you have more options when setting up camp. Also, we did have a problem once with the hose connection at the regulator coming loose and leaking. Just needed a pair of pliers to fix, but it gave me quite a start to look down and see flames around the connection. It was surely my fault since I swapped out the hose at one point, but it's worth being aware of the possibility. Also, if you want to destroy a nice camping chair, just leave it unattended by the campfire on a windy night for a few moments.
