  1. Hey Yall, One of my favorite weekend hobbies is breaking out the smoker and cooking a brisket or some beef ribs. My wife and I were talking about ways we could continue the same level of weekend cuisine on the road, so I started doing some digging. I found Traeger and Green Mountain Grills have a few "portable-ish" pellet smoker options. The Traeger being the flatter table top scout/ranger for steaks and burgers, and the more all purpose Tailgater smoker for larger items like chickens and turkeys. Green Mountain Grills has one portable smoker that runs on pellets and 12V called the Davy Crockett. I really like the power consumption of the 12V davy crocket, and its temperature control is programable down to one degree. Over all I'm impressed with both these smokers because I could use them as an oven for baking breads, bacon, and other meals. Additionally their is no propane requirement, and my solar panels can easily keep up with the power usage of these 12v grills drawing less than 1.5 amps per hour. The grills weigh in at a hefty 60 pounds but are small enough and foldable enough to fit on the back rack of the Ollie cargo hitch w/ carrier & i'm still young enough to throw that kind of weight around without much hassle. I'll attach the green mountain grill and Traeger links off amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Green-Mountain-Grills-Crockett-Controlled/dp/B078RXH95C https://www.amazon.com/Traeger-Grills-Tailgater-Portable-Pellet/dp/B01CD58XMQ/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=traeger+tailgater&qid=1582577583&s=lawn-garden&sr=1-2 Does anyone else have any input on good camping smokers, or had any experience with the ones mentioned?

  2. We have a Service Ticketing system in place that allows our customer to open and monitor issue requests. This system also has a Knowledge Base system that we will continue to build to help our customers. Many of our customers have already been using this system as it's been in place for several months now. Below are links to the main dashboard of your ticket system as well as a password reset link if you are unable to login. Service Ticket Dashboard Password Reset

  3. At the 2018 Oliver Rally I met @DeanCHS1980, who camps in a Casita. He has been interviewed on a number of the RV Atlas podcasts. On one of these podcasts he was interviewed about grilling and smoking. He recommended the Akorn Kamado for smoking. For transporting to the campsite, the Akorn Kamado does weigh more than the Green Mountain or the Traeger grills that @The Shackelfords mentioned.

  4. Problem solved. The military campground has 2 cable hookups. One that is where the other power hookups are and another on a post 3 feet away. I was trying the hookup that apparently is the old one. It had been disconnected. A fellow camper showed me the somewhat hidden new cable hookup. Too darn many channels now and I have been reminded why I cut the cord years ago.

  5. I think ScubaRx has had his apart for repair, so you might give him a PM.

  6. The metal plate is a good idea to protect the door, but on the other hand, thats not a bad failure point if you’re going to have one, since it possibly absorbed most of the impact. That is, I could still camp with the damage in the photo, but if strengthening that point just moved the damage to the hinges or even the hull, then you might end up with trip-ending, or at least more costly, damage.

  8. Hello Rob; Did you consider the Toyota Tundra?

  9. I love it. I'm relatively new to the handle game. Just a few decades. Can't even remember my dad's handle on cn radio . Wish i could. So many memories. If I were choosing today, I'd probably use Cybertruck. But, you know, Seadawg has been our name for a long tome, too. We'll stick with that. As you have. It's all good. Sherry

  10. We have a Toyota Tundra and have towed our Oliver Elite II around the USA with no issues at all; we do use the Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch. And our gas mileage while towing is between 12 - 13 MPG.

  11. Overland, I agree with you 100% or else Oliver completely missed their market. Sorry if I came off otherwise. I wouldn't even be looking at Oliver seriously if I didn't think my 1/2 ton Sierra could pull it. I used to tow a 30' travel trailer with a Ford F150 and 2.7 Ecoboost (great engine, btw) and it was okay...doable, but quite sensitive to wind and trucks. But the Ollie is not a non-aerodynamic 30' TT, it's a very aerodynamic 24' TT. From all accounts it has very good road and wind manners.

  12. I think you've been misled by some of the discussion here. A half ton pickup is the default tow vehicle choice for an Elite II. You absolutely do not have to be a minimalist for it to work, and in fact many owners tow with far less capable vehicles. There are certainly some ½ ton models, and even some ¾ tons that are offroad oriented and so aren't made for towing, like my Raptor or a Power Wagon. To tow with those, you have to do some small modifications. But apart from those specific models, a dead standard ½ ton off the lot, with pretty much any engine choice, will suit an Elite II just fine. There are advantages to having a ¾ ton truck, but they don't come close to being necessary unless, like a few owners, you travel with a small machine shop in the bed of the truck. (Lookin' at you, Steve 😛) FYI, I travel with two heavy bed racks, an offroad jack, a winch, a fridge-freezer, 15 gallons of water, a 10" telescope, two boxes of recovery gear, 4 max trax and 2 aluminum bridging ladders, camping gear (tent, stove, grill, table, chairs, etc.), portable campfire, 200W of solar panels, a house battery, CO2 tank, 5 gallon propane tank, all my tools, hiking gear, first aid, a drone, all the chocks, blocks, etc. for the trailer, and 3 weeks worth of food. All that is in a half ton with the lowest tow rating and cargo capacity in Ford's lineup. I never think about weight and I don't use a WD hitch. Now, all that plus the trailer puts me over my cargo capacity, and so I'm not saying that I would endorse carrying all that in a ½ ton. (I use timbrens to carry the extra load.) But I know that I, and some of the other posters in this thread, load up our trucks much more than the average Elite II owner will ever need or want to. Most people don't need portable winches, tools, recovery gear, etc., etc. (90% of the time, we don't need all that junk either.) We're the oddballs, and sometimes it's tempting for us oddballs to make recommendations based on what we do, rather than what the average owner needs. Point being, if you're not an oddball like us, then refer to my earlier statement - a ½ ton truck should be your default choice.

  13. Nope, have one and it's on the way outta here when the Oliver arrives. Spending almost as much on the Oliver trailer as we did on the Mercedes chassis Forest River motorhome. Not happy with the quality at all on the FR. Frankly, not thrilled that some of the same components are being used on the Oliver, but at least it sounds like Oliver will provide real warranty service. FR "warranty service" is a cruel joke.
