  1. Just thinking about our Oliver family and our neighbors in middle Tennessee this morning after a tornado hit Nashville. Our thoughts and prayers are lifted for you. Stay Tennessee strong! David & Kathy Austin

  2. Hi John, I own a 2018 14’ Aluma utility trailer (UTR14) and have been very happy with it. I use it to haul my 1025R when I need to have it serviced or when hauling mulch for our blueberry grove. A very nice light weight utility trailer. It is kept garaged when not in use. I would not hesitate to purchase an Aluma trailer again. Trying to find a used Aluma can be challenging, I could not so I purchased new. -David

  3. Thanks all for the nice feedback. We are having a great time. The Ollie is working out great for us. We like that we can personalize it. We have lots of Nancy's photos mounted on canvas inside, and the Lagun table modification. You really can make the Oliver your own. We leave the FL Keys tomorrow for a State Park in Naples. We have received a number of inquiries and compliments on the Ollie along our journey so far. Lots of curious folks and they all seem to like the Olliver. The Ollie and our dog Marley are great conversation starters and have helped us meet lots of nice folks. We are learning some lessons as first time RVers, like how difficult it is to get in any park in Florida in the winter. The Keys have been split between 2 RV resorts. The first was small with just 35 spaces. The current park is huge with a couple hundred spots and even a restaurant. Folks have been nice and helpful. Nancy, Marley (our dog) and I are enjoying it. So far Charleston, Savannah, and the Keys have been great and we have been in nice parks, some state parks some private. 4 of the 5 at the beach. We have a free beach boondocking site coming up in Louisiana. Bob (Mainiac), We think of you guys all the time and are appreciative of the help you provided. Seems like a somewhat mild winter turned for the worse right after we left. Keep shoveling and stay warm. Hope you plow out your Ollie, perhaps we can meet up! After Naples we head up the gulf coast across the Florida panhandle, spending most of our stops along the beach and bays. Then to Gulfport, MS and on to New Orleans, and Natchez, MS. We will drive the Nachez Trace Parkway to Nashville and conclude our trip at the Oliver Rally before heading home for a great Summer in Maine with boating (camping at sea) and Lobsters!!! It has been, and looks to be a great year!

  4. In another thread, @Nan asked about Maintenance schedules. @John E Davies responded with a link to his post with spreadsheets for Travel Logs, Service Records, and Inventory. John mentioned that you might need Numbers (IOS or Mac) or Excel (Mac and Windows) for these files. If you don't own this software, an alternative is to use free software for spreadsheets, such as Open Office or Google Sheets, which is part of Google Docs. I am posting today because I just updated my lists of Springtime tasks for the Oliver, including Sanitizing the Fresh Water System. I try to keep documents like this and my campground checklists to a single sheet of paper so that they fit into a sheet protector. I also took some info that Oliver posted on regular inspection and maintenance, and put them into three single sheet documents. I am going to upload them as Word documents (docx), so that they can be edited to fit your needs. Please let me know if you would like a pdf document, or an rtf version that can be edited with other software. I probably missed some important maintenance items, and I hope others will chime in. 5. We are disappointed to read that Oliver will not have any technicians available at the rally. I am sure it is a headache for the company to provide technicians, but it is even more difficult for us to schedule and bring our new Oliver to the factory to resolve relatively minor issues. After all, customer service was a prime reason to spend the extra money on an Oliver. We hope that decision is reconsidered and technicians will be available.

  6. The "thinsulate" insulation that's described above (it's either Reflectix or a very similar product) is now standard on all the trailers. It's much thinner than any of the products you listed, maybe ⅛" with a radiant backing. Reflectix isn't a bad product but they list rather optimistic R-values and they have a clarification document on their website that I suspect the FTC made them post. It really acts as more of a radiant barrier than a true insulation. Nonetheless, you'll find that the insulation combined with the double fiberglass hulls and air space between make it easy to keep the cabin comfortable in all weather. There are certainly places in the hull where you could add a thicker insulation on your own, but also many places that would be impossible to access. Plus you'd need to take into account any condensation that happens between the hulls and make sure that anything you add won't trap moisture. I don't think that Oliver will make any changes to the insulation for you, but it wouldn't hurt to ask your sales associate.

  7. John, Now that appears to be a neat little utility trailer and space saver to boot! Apogee will likely do well in the US market. I believe my 14’ Aluma was right around $3k after a bit of haggling as individual dealers set their own prices. This could likely be due to how many units ordered by a dealer and shipping costs from the Aluma plant to the dealer. -David

  8. Great picture! No, I'm a little too risk averse for that. I have a neighbor that flies the smaller ones (single seat). He does that for fun and is a doctor the rest of the time. As mentioned, my hobby is building airplanes like this one - Sorry for the thread drift...

  10. I don't know - looks like you're a quarter inch short to my eye. May need to redo them.
