  1. We officially closed the deal on a new Elite II Monday. Our production start date is scheduled for March 20 and we are told it will be ready for the rally. We are signed up, have a site at the park and are looking forward to meeting other owners. See you there! Scott and Veronica Dyer

  2. In another thread, @Nan asked about Maintenance schedules. @John E Davies responded with a link to his post with spreadsheets for Travel Logs, Service Records, and Inventory. John mentioned that you might need Numbers (IOS or Mac) or Excel (Mac and Windows) for these files. If you don't own this software, an alternative is to use free software for spreadsheets, such as Open Office or Google Sheets, which is part of Google Docs. I am posting today because I just updated my lists of Springtime tasks for the Oliver, including Sanitizing the Fresh Water System. I try to keep documents like this and my campground checklists to a single sheet of paper so that they fit into a sheet protector. I also took some info that Oliver posted on regular inspection and maintenance, and put them into three single sheet documents. I am going to upload them as Word documents (docx), so that they can be edited to fit your needs. Please let me know if you would like a pdf document, or an rtf version that can be edited with other software. I probably missed some important maintenance items, and I hope others will chime in. 4. I have no pics, I just clean out all the old grease from around the gears and replace with a quality grease.

  5. Yes, it stays on. We’ve been through some pretty gusty winds in west Texas. It has a drawstring and a Velcro strap below that.

  6. I have not taken the jack assembly completely apart, but I do removed the top cover to the gear box and relube the gears. And each year I extend the jacks and clean then out first with brake cleaner and spray them with a Teflon lubricant; be sure to clean up any excess lube from the exposed jack tube. So far I have not had any issues and the jacks work very smoothly.

  7. What John said!!! Never having to buy ice is a great thing. A few years back, we were in AK, and had a week long wilderness river trip on he docket. We had some frozen Alaskan caught fish in the ARB - I had a single house battery in my van - specifically for the ARB - the fish remained frozen - and the battery was no worse the wear - after the week it was all good. I must admit I wished my Oliver fridge/freezer was of a similar build. RB

  8. New “Ollie” owners, we adopted hull #428 on Valentine’s Day at the plant and excited to be attending the rally. We’re nearing retirement with great plans but this is our first RV so much to learn! Can’t wait to meet the “Family”,

  9. We recently had a similar issue. Frustrating as we went through All of the steps mentioned above including calling Jason. We had some othe issues and had a tech out working on our refrigerator. We asked him to look at the Jack. Well long story short. After previously checking the fuses on 3 seperate occasions including with a meter it turned out to be the fuse. Initially you could not visually see the fuse was blown on the first 3 inspections. This time you could see it. We replaced the fuse and were back in business. It was very frustrating and embarrassing as I had checked it 2 times and an auto mechanic that was in our camp ground and has also worked on rvs for 15 years missed it too. Maybe try turning the main power off swapping the fuse and turn the main power on. I cannot explain why this worked!! Good luck, I feel your pain!!!

  10. Could be a bad switch? Maybe move the wires to the good side and see if that switch makes any difference.

  11. Problem solved. The military campground has 2 cable hookups. One that is where the other power hookups are and another on a post 3 feet away. I was trying the hookup that apparently is the old one. It had been disconnected. A fellow camper showed me the somewhat hidden new cable hookup. Too darn many channels now and I have been reminded why I cut the cord years ago.

  12. Yes, it does come with a 25 ft. 30a power cord, just things you might also want and need at times. I carry an extra 25 ft. 30a power cord, you can run into situations where the 25 ft. cord may not reach the power box, it does happen at times, plus both 30a and 50a hookup adapter plugs. I would also get an extra 25 ft. water hose as the same thing can happen when when hooking up in some campsites. I also carry with me a gray water water hose, adapter, and a honey wagon, and I have used them all. The rule of thumb is, miss it twice, then consider buying it. trainman

  13. I would say that overall we’re happy with the Truma, with the caveat being that it has definitely been the most finicky and delicate component on the trailer. I can’t say whether I’d opt for it again if I were doing it all over. Probably...not?

  14. We have pretty much the base model Elite II, our options are the Confection Microwave, Bicycle Rear Rack, LP Quick Disconnects. We went with the standard white counter tops and black dinette table top, all colors picked from the standard interiors colors offered at no addition cost. Our colors were all in the gray/black colors and the white counter tops are so good looking in the trailer they should have charged $1800 extra for them. I purchased the Anderson WDH online for $479.00 including shipping and I installed it myself at the camping ground in 30 mins., I also brought with me the extra lengths and the chain quick lengths needed to add the extra chain. We added no other electronics that were offered as I felt for our type of camping they were not needed and in most cases are iffy if they work in camping conditions, we also did not op for the solar stuff, if we need extra power I would go the Honda Generation route, but no electricity available we probably won't be camping there. We also purchased a 3" memory foam queen size mattress $130 from Walmart, cut if down the middle and it sleep wonderful. Now sounds like I'm really cheap, not really, if spending another $10,000 on the Oliver was what we wanted we would have added other options without any second thoughts. PS, we don't Boondock, we believe in keeping the local economy going. trainman

  15. Looking at Oliver’s current option list, I don’t think that there’s anything on there that would be impossible to add later, but of course that depends largely on how handy you are, and how much time you might want to spend on your own adding options. That, or how much you’re willing to pay Oliver to add them later. Certainly if you’re capable of doing the work, then you can do them for a good bit less than what Oliver charges, and depending on your skill and your product choice, maybe even end up with something nicer - just factor in the cost of your time and the loss of any warranty related to your additions. As far as my personal biases go, I’d say the easiest option to forgo would be the WiFi or cell boosters. Those are a pretty easy DIY and personally I think there are better options than what Oliver sells. Plus we’ll all probably be using satellite service in a few years anyway. One thing I’m very glad I had Oliver add was our second awning. That’s something that I’d be unlikely to try to tackle on my own and its one of those things that you don’t really appreciate until you’ve experienced it.
