  1. We are on the Gulf of Mexico due south of Tallahassee. We began our journey departing Maine on February 3rd with plans to visit Charleston, Savannah, the Keys, Naples, Tampa, Destin, Gulfport, New Orleans, Natchez and the Trace, Nashville, and then to the Oliver Rally and then home. We did get to Charleston, Savannah, the Keys, Naples and Tampa. We are leaving here tomorrow for home. With limited services and most everything closing, to us, it just seems best to head home. We will end our trip 2 months early and that is disappointing. However, the 45 days on our first camping trip in our Ollie has been great. We learned a lot and met some very nice folks. We stayed in Cracker Barrels, State Parks, RV resorts, and private campgrounds. It has been an adventure. We learned about our Oliver. We hooked up, used a dump station, learned how to use the Andersen hitch, greased our Dexter suspension, fixed a broken tongue jack (operator error) and had our refrigerator serviced in the keys. We will return to Maine to wait this out and hope to remain healthy and enjoy a great summer. We will plan to go back back out next winter and finish part of the trip we didn't get to do this year, go further and do more next year. Stay healthy!!!!!!!

  2. Ah, I didn't catch that in your earlier post. If Oliver has moved to an integrated inverter/charger then that's a big upgrade. edit - well I thought it was a big upgrade. It doesn't look like that Xantrex unit has power assist, nor the networking of a Victron system. It looks like it has slightly faster charging @80 amps, but unless I'm missing something, the only advantage I see for the buyer is the switchable lithium profile. It'll be easier for Oliver to install, of course - at least from scratch. It'll be a bit of a pain as an upgrade. Come on, Oliver - you're just one step away from a modern electrical system. You can do it!

  3. We bought the black Vornado MVH mode with 3 heat (wattage) settings for $60. Very happy with it. Since the Ollie interior is white, I wanted a white model, but the only white one Amazon had at the time was the VH2 model, with only 2 heat settings, for $75.

  4. Thanks for commenting Sherry. You helped me out a lot. Yep, even the service guy had not seen the Bluetooth one and he a service tech for them. I was a little worried about him because I had not heard from him in a couple of weeks (after he received the board), but found out his wife went into premature labor and that stopped his world. Anyway, like I said, if anyone needs a new thermostat please just let me know. I will send it to you free of charge.

  5. I just saw this article and thought I would post it up. -Patriot Edit- Found this link and added it as well. It appears letters will be sent out to original purchasers. https://powerequipment.honda.com/support/recalls-and-updates Video: KHOU 340,000 Honda portable generators recalled for fire hazard Ten fires have already been reported. Author: Travis Pittman (TEGNA) Published: 5:06 AM EDT March 18, 2020 Updated: 5:08 AM EDT March 18, 2020 Honda is recalling about 340,000 portable generators because of a fire and burn hazard. Ten fires have already been reported. The recall is for Honda EB2200i, EU2200i, EU2200i Companion and EU2200i Camo Portable Generators. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the generator's inverter assembly can short circuit with the presence of saltwater. This can cause the unit to smoke or catch fire.

  6. I just went through this exercise over the last 5 months, as I had 1 bad T105 battery due to my laziness and it's not usually smart to replace 1 out of 4 batteries. AGM replacements were over $1300 for 4, so I went to 2 BB's and theoretically gave up 25 Ah. That lead to my charger replacement. Then I found out that my inverter would not run my microwave any longer. It ran small items but crashed with the microwave load. So I explored all inverter options and looked hard at the Victron Phoenix inverter, but it was nearly as much as the MultiPlus 2000w. If I knew I needed an inverter and a charger, the Victron MultiPlus would have made sense, but the PD upgrade went in with the batteries. So I talked myself out of the Victron options and bought another Xantrex Prowatt 2000w inverter for $350. To your point about OTT's upgrading to the Victron options, there is only about a $500 difference in street prices, between the 2000w Xantrex Freedom XC and a 2000w Victron MultiPlus. Which brings us back to woulda, coulda, shoulda. And the good news is, Tom Brady is coming to Tampa!đź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź‘Ť

  7. Hello, Noodbie...... I think the problem is not the electronics it self . it is having an effective ground plane for the antenna. The reason so many Jeeps use a Firestick CB antenna, it does not require a ground plane to be an effective antenna system. The fiberglass of the trailer does not allow it to become part of the antenna system. There are several ways to address this issue, I would consider a ground mat antenna first that would just lay outside. I am just looking at an Oliver at this point but it would be the type of antenna I would try. I am a Amateur Radio Operator (HAM) so this will be on my radar as well.

  8. Overland, I agree with your analysis and that’s why I chose the $18 dongle mod based on PD's recommendation. When I tried to install it, my charger did not have the necessary port to plug the dongle into. Back to square one, so I traded in my dongle on a lithium charger module. But going back to Janis's lithium questions, it looks like she is getting a 2020 Ollie with the new Xantrex inverter/charger/ transfer switch that supports lithium charging according to the specs I read and that agrees with the information she got from Oliver. So she would not need to upgrade the PD equipment if the Xantrex equipment was installed to its full capabilities. But it does seem that she may have 2 charging modules with 1 in the Xantrex and another in the PD Inteli-Power Mighty Mini. Update on my Victron BMV-712 installation. The picture is of my temporary install from last spring and it has worked well enough that it will stay there until I need that space for something else.

  10. Mike and Carol, you are so correct! So much has changed in two weeks. And with state and local campgrounds closing in so many states, there isn't a lot of options as to where to park and camp. Healthwise, for many it wouldn't be smart to be away from medical facilities. Unless small groups would agree to camp near...not too near...each other and watch out for each other, it is probably not safe anymore either.

  11. This is my Victron 712 install under the dinette seat and I use the Victron Connect app.

  12. Andrew, we have the optional antenna, but I think checking to insure the cable connected is a good first step. I knew something was up with our radio reception, but until I got to an area where I was confident about the signal for a good FM station that still worked poorly. I didn't start checking the tuner itself. You probably should to that if you haven't traced the cable connection to the antenna already.

  13. While you are in the compartment looking, check the fuses. The chart on the door doesn't match the fuses that the factory installed, at least in mine. The chart shows the basement should be 15 amp. However what they actually installed was a 7.5 amp. Now I have not had any problems and the 7.5 amp has not blown, so it may be adequate. I guess my concern is if the fuse blows and it is replaced by the 15 amp, have we created a problem? But I also found that I need to carry a fuse removal tool. Laying on the floor trying to look around the door, holding a flashlight, fuses are hard to get too. We also pushed the test button on the propane/monoxide under there too. It did not go off. There is our immediate next project...

  14. Any idea if the hinge is swappable? I never understood why this unit does not have a removable cover instead of a hinge, which is very much on the wrong side for the mounting location!!! The only practical way to work inside the front (replace fuse or tighten fuse socket) is to completely remove the table, which is an extremely poor design for a “quick access” breaker/ fuse panel. Thanks, John Davies Spokane WA

  15. Gregg, The Progressive Dynamics power center is the device located under the dinette. And yes, I have to stop and think about Progressive Dynamics and Progressive Industries. Edit: Well I had to think a minute. My Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C is also located under the dinette seat in the same compartment as the Progressive Dynamics PD 4060K power center.
