  2. Well, we don’t want to go too heavy! Here’s my thoughts/list... 28’ X 7.5’, maybe 8’. Walk around queen. 4 person dinette. Dry bath. Repositioned/quieter air conditioner. Bigger refrigerator. More and easier to access storage (improve current basement). Bigger tanks - 50 gal fresh and gray, 30 gal black. Lithium option with solar. Bigger windows. Better suspension (look at the Australians/Black Series/Kedron/etc). I’m sure I’ll think of more. Mike

  3. Bryan, we live up the road a bit, in Tupelo. We've owned two different Oliver's, a 2008 Elite and currently a 2014 Elite II. We've traveled with three dogs in each of these trailers. Two are small (under 15 pounds), one is huge (over 100 pounds). The doberman minds well and stays out of the way while in the trailer. The two little ones are usually on one or the other of the beds. We've never found them to be a problem. I usually take them outside the last thing at night and Tali usually gets them out in the morning. In 12 years of camping I don't recall the weather ever being an issue to the point where they couldn't do their business. Yeah, sometimes they come in dirty with mud on their feet. They're dogs. One of the little ones is fast, if you're not quick, he'll be inside and on your bed before you can catch him to clean him up. We wipe them off as best we can and clean up the floor later.

  4. We often want to be able to look out our door window, as it is the tallest window in the trailer and would be the easiest to look out of while standing. (I'm 6'5") After wishing for a clear window on the door for some time, I decided to trade it out for a smoked see through window. The glass was ordered through the LCI, the OEM of our windows. ($44.95 for the tempered glass and $20.95 for the 16 very overpriced "window keys" require to remove the interior window frame.) The installation was simple and we think the mod is great. We love that we can now see out the window and use it all of the time. I am reaching out to share the mod for anyone who may be interested and ask for ideas for a innovative window treatment that aren’t easily found on the internet. Thank you for any ideas you may have! 5. Bill, if you go to their site it’s the one that pops up first (in black). When you order request white. http://www.zarcor.com/rv_products/rv-door-window-kit/ Mike

  7. Mike - Do you remember specifically which window you ordered? There are two listed on their website. I'm thinking that since I can't go camping I might as well tackle this job I've been wanting to do for awhile! Bill

  8. It was interesting to talk to the Timken rep about seals. National receives the seals, in bulk, wrapped with a piece of plastic from their contract suppliers in Taiwan and other places. National then packages the seals into boxes that Timken provides. The Timken seal boxes do not have QR codes, but DO have the word "Timken" in the latitude and longitude lines on the rear of the box. The seals I had purchased from Amazon were clearly counterfeit as there was Chinese script in the lat/long lines. Returned them, got my money back and reordered from a different Amazon seller. Those were legit. Mission complete...

  11. The name of the company is Zarcor. They were very easy to work with. You do have to call to get the white frame. http://www.zarcor.com/rv_products/rv-door-window-kit/

  13. A comment about our current experience with a tow vehicle. We have a 2019 Sequoia Platinum, dealer sold at 12500 under MSRP. It tows the LEII with no problem. The 5.7 guzzles fuel, 9-10 mpg. Non hitched it gets 15-17). It works well for us as a daily driver (comfortable, quiet) but especially well for trips. The cargo space is ginormous. If they made one, a diesel Sequoia 9k towing capacity would be great.

  14. Beaker, I found a photo of the two doodles sleeping in the Ollie. I forgot to mention, our Ease of travel depends on where and how they lie down. Sometimes both are curled up and out of the way, sometimes one is by the door and only one is in the way, and sometimes they’re sprawled out both in the way and we step over and around. They also sometimes stand up and then there’s plenty of room. BTW, a while ago Phil mentioned when we might see a larger Ollie hit the market. He said the plans are on the drawing board for a larger and wider unit, but to expect nothing for 3-5 yrs. A He threw out specs in the neighborhood of 30’x8.’ I imagine how nice that extra space and Ollie quality would feel in a lot of applications.

  15. Hi beaker, our two 70lbs goldendoodles lay on the floor without a problem (on blankets to absorb wet and dirt when applicable. They are chill and not hyper, even though they have good play energy, but in the trailer they seem pretty calm perhaps because of tighter space. There is room to step between their legs and get around them but the Ollie isn’t a wide open runway. We looked at AS and liked the width and lighted feel and views, but didn’t like the build quality or the maintenance. For us, the smaller, more maneuverable, high quality build, and the Oliver reputation for service after the sale won out over the inconvenience of the lesser space. We make less space work and have gotten used to it. There are trade offs and consequences no matter the choice. The reality for us is, once inside most time is spent reading, cooking, some tv and sleeping, stationary stuff, rather than moving around a lot. We also bought a “clam” outdoor screened tent to stretch and hang out during the day and evening as a change of pace.

  18. We were not sure what to do to protect the front of our Oliver on the Alaska journey. We looked into large mud flaps, but they would not fit, spray protection that turned out to be discontinued and more lasting but expensive solutions. We settled on yoga mats. Two $12 mats from Walmart and some non-residue duct tape and a little cutting produced a mat that we wondered if it would work and how long it would last. Well, it worked very well, lots of cuts and indentations on the mats. It also lasted - so far - for nearly 4000 miles and it is still intact. We have traveled miles on dirt and gravel roads as well as the Alcan and they still are working. So we are pretty pleased. The mats do not clean very well but we get the surface dirt off ok. An inexpensive solution to the rocks along the Alcan and well beyond. Total investment about $30. Daily posts at www.twolanetouring.com

  20. My ‘13 200 tows just adequately, it is stock except for 33” LT tires and rear airbags. It has the six speed tranny and 3.90 gears. It would do great with lower 4:30 gearing like the Tundra, about a $2000 upgrade using takeoff ring and pinion sets. There have been a number of discussions, search and you should find them. Would I buy another to replace this one? No, I would get a 3/4 ton gas pickup and scrap the Andersen. John Davies Spokane WA

  21. Certainly your call on the usage of your trailer. We have had zero issues with big rigs, most of the dirt and grime come from gravel roads or construction areas. We have had a lot of both n the 9000 miles we have traveled to this point. But the rocks are mostly from our own truck as far as I can see. We drive slow when we need to and the Oliver has held up more than well under the trip, as least so far. You do have to exercise caution over the various rough roads and frost heaves but, for us, we simply love the scenery, vistas, mountains and wildlife we are seeing nearly every day. Grizzly bears, caribou, moose (four today near Anchorage), lynx, wolf, a host of birds I have never seen before, sea life everywhere and more. We have met some fascinating people and some of the history here is unique with its Russian heritage. Well worth any aggravation or future repairs in our opinion.

  22. Mike, have you ever seen that in writing? The Owners Manual for my ‘13 does not say this but it does specify a max TW of 850 pounds, and requires a sway control for a heavier trailer. OTH the 200 needs the jounce control of the Andersen, definitely. But if your tongue weight is low, around 500 pounds AND you have airbags so you can level the back (and adjust for cargo weight) you don’t need the WD feature of the Andersen, and you can just snug up the chains to remove slack. They will still do their job but not bind up the connection to your truck or wear the ball as badly. With a heavy tongue you need to crank down on the nuts. This is with my new bigger 2 5/16” coupler and ball, lowered one hole in the mount, 10 psi in the bags, 500 pounds TW, and NO tension on the chains...it tows great and IMHO looks terrific. I do have 33 inch LT tires on the 200 so a stock truck will be an inch lower. John Davies Spokane WA

  23. @Raspy, John, is this the replacement window/shutter you mentioned in another thread? http://www.zarcor.com/rv_products/rv-door-window-kit/ It looks like a wonderful idea. We've used a shirt over the head bump cushion for a lot of years. This is much more... elegant! Sherry
