  1. Until this afternoon I had delayed in canceling my May camping reservations at Guntersville State Park. I used the link provided by Jason Walmsley in the first post of this thread and filled out the simple form. Within five minutes I received a cancellation notice from the State Park and a credit to my credit card account for my original deposit. The entire process could not have been easier. Another BIG THANKS to Jason and Matt Duncan for making this so easy. If you have not taken care of this job previously, I'd strongly recommend getting it done very soon since the ability to get a refund might be adversely effected by the State Park policy on cancellations. 2. This my bathroom shower/faucet arraignment and was installed by Oliver when our trailer was built. I wanted to have my choice of shower heads and also have the same faucet in both the bath and kitchen.

  4. Change smoke/ CO detector batteries and test detector. Check egress window function. Re familiarize yourself with operation, best with eyes closed for nighttime egress. Check torque on all recommended bolts. Check/ replace batteries in fan and TV remotes as well as any other battery powered items. I like to replace seasonally to protect against battery leaks. My approach. Put 1/4 cup bleach mixed in 6 or 7 gallons of water. I do this with my portable water jug. Draw through boon docking feed then repeat with another 1/4 cup bleach mixed with water. I then put a little bleach and water in the jugs and the fresh water hoses and sanitize them while I'm at it. Fill remainder of tank and run through all of the lines. I usually let sit overnight. I think it should be at least 12 hours though. Drain and flush all lines until clear of bleach. If you have a septic at home I wouldn't drain the bleach into the septic. You also will need to be careful of the deodorizer you use. I like John's method of letting the chlorinated water slosh around some. Clean water pump screen. Get underneath and visually inspect all of the welds for cracks. Check tires for uneven wear, cracking and pressure.

  5. I was thinking the other day about my fresh water tank and does it need to be cleaned with bleach, or some product that is used for this. I guess the reason for asking this is our trailer has now gone five months without use, the tank was drained when last used, but I'm sure not all the water can drain out under the tanks design, etc. Today I'm going to wash the trailer, and fire up all the accessories and let them run for sometime and hope all is working as it should. I'm also going to open my gate valves and work them to keep them freed up, I to have a sewer drain at home so dumping is not a problem for me and yes they were flushed three times as I do on every return home for proper cleaning per the Oliver manual. All being said is there anything else I should give attention to as we do not have no idea when our next camping event will be. trainman

  6. Honey Badger crystals. They are sprinkled around the interior, between the shells , as a preventative measure. Any mention of a honey Badger sends critters into a virtual frenzy of self destruction. Mice, rats, and other rodents , do not congregate anywhere a honey badger has staked a claim. Rest easy, no critters in an Oliver, some owners, excepted. RB

  7. Like a lot of folks, my previous campers have given me the opportunity to have something to tinker with and improve. As an engineer, I just can’t help but want to try to “make improvements”. I was reading through the Oliver Support site and came across the information on the Oliver’s integrated surge protector that has a display unit for showing error codes to indicate various power issues I was wondering if anyone has replaced the Progressive surge protector with a “smart” one that will talk to an app on your phone, tablet or smart watch. A quick Google search revealed one made by Hughes Autoformers in California (https://hughesautoformers.com) (I’m not affiliated with them in any way). Here is a video showing how one guy integrated one into their Class A

  8. Agree with John. I usually do this before our big spring trip. I just pour some bleach into the fresh water hose before I fill the tank. Then I let it sit while I do other stuff then rinse until there’s no smell. I run some through the kitchen and bath while it’s bleachie. As soon as the rain and oak pollen stop here I’m going to pull ours over for a few days to wash, wax and do some other maintenance. The fresh tank is full from our February trip, I was thinking we’d be on the road.... Mike

  9. Yes this is something that should be done annually, in spring, including ALL the water lines. I use a hand pump to suck treated water from a bucket into the outside ports. The fresh tank is a little hard to completely treat, but if you can tow it around for a while with chlorinated water sloshing, that will be best. If you can't don't sweat it. For your 30 gallon tank you need half a cup of fresh beach. Do not use old stuff, it loses potency. After three hours flush flush flush until it no longer smells like the pool at the YMCA. John Davies Spokane WA

  10. Dear Owners, On March 11th, we stated that we were looking into this and here's what we have come up with so far and there will be more to follow: First of all, we’d like to express how much we appreciate any owner who voluntarily shows their travel trailer to others who show an interest. We acknowledge your contribution as being a large part of our success. However, this is a voluntary program and if at anytime an owner feels there is too much risk, they should withdraw from the program. Regardless of whether you take part or not, we appreciate you. Both our attorney and our insurance agent have indicated to us that since we do not have any control over the owner, their trailer or their premises it is not a risk we can insure against. We are working to create a “hold harmless” agreement that we can put into the terms and conditions that folks agree to on our website when they request a field visit. The value of such an agreement will be limited in terms of how much protection it may provide due to the fact that there are so many variables in the potential circumstances and the laws governing liability vary from state to state. Once we have the hold harmless in place, we will post it here. Commercial insurance, which we carry, covers our employees and products but not our customers. We did ask if there was a rider available and were told not at this time. Regarding your personal liability there has already been a lot of discussion here so it doesn’t need repeating. You should check with your carrier to see what coverage you have if this is a concern as people come and go from your property every day for any number of reasons. Again, thank you for all of your contributions, we are looking forward to seeing you at the rally and we can discuss this further there if anyone comes up with anything else.
