  1. I've only had our Hull 505 now for 10 months. I had one situation last fall where the keypad cracked over one of the numbers. I called for a warranty and the RVlock company sent me a replacement front pad that showed up in 3 days. I installed it in about <5 minutes. Pull old pad off, stick new pad on. They also said that cracked pads don't necessarily stop the system from working as the unit is sealed behind the mylar pad. The system has worked well ever since, no cracks, no major signs of wear yet. The lock come with keys, and a battery powered keyfob for opening from your keychain remotely. 95% of the time...we open with the keypad. CS

  2. After John's posts, I have read about the Gaia app, and it sounds very cool. I decided the annual cost was too high for our needs, and I have an old, less full featured, app that allows me to download topo maps for offline use. The cell phone coverage feature is very cool, and if your are interested in that there is an excellent app called Coverage?, which provides that functionality, but the app is a one time $2.99 purchase. We use this app regularly when looking at campgrounds. Too many campground reviews say "no cell service," but the review is old and in fact there is cell service. It could also depend upon cell provider. BTW, this app was made by Technomadia, former Oliver owners and tech gurus. They have other apps including a GPS-enabled app that map out public lands (good for boondocking) and one listing state laws, such as whether it is legal to overnight in a rest area or which state has lower gasoline taxes (used that one!). Below is a screen shot from Coverage? of the same region of Idaho that John posted about. Both apps are probably accessing the same data source.

  5. I use this for all external sealing, it is excellent, stays white and is UV resistant, and you can remove it. The 5200 is for stuff like bonding the deck to a boat, a β€œforever” job that you hope to never ever do again. 3M 4000 UV Fast Cure I tape around the job, work the sealant in with a finger, then take the tape off. It looks great if you take some extra care. For some pics, look here: .... https://olivertraveltrailers.com/forums/topic/2082-how-to-install-a-big-bubble-level-no-drilling/ John Davies Spokane WA

  6. If you like breweries and wineries look into harvest host membership. Went to a moonshine distillery and was glad we stayed over night. The moon shine taste testing had me sleep Very good that night.πŸ€ͺ

  10. Our keypad also cracked over one of the numbers. The company is sending us a new pad. The one thing that I don't like is the noise it makes after you press your code, then press lock or unlock. It is quite loud. I do like the convenience of not having to remember to carry the keys all the time. Paula

  11. We have had our trailer for 10 months. We have the hypervent under our upgraded mattresses. It's smooth on the side facing the mattresses and isn't causing any snagging or marking of the body of the trailer. Getting under the mattress requires some lifting and shifting...and the hypervent is the least of the issues. Luckily, getting under the mattress isn't an every day occurrence. When I do need to access I tip the mattress up against the wall...or move it all the way out of the way into the aisle temporarily. C. Short Hull 505 Galway Girl

  12. Nan, didn't the prior owner replace the AC - I would guess the hose was affected during the process .

  13. I love our keypad. Have not removed the batteries in 2 yeas, key unlocks anytime. never use keys, almost always the keypad - very good item.

  14. Yes it does Nan. Look under the back street side corner and there should be a weep hole cover and then the hose. Mine has about an inch or so protruding out of the hull. I have never cleaned the drain tube, but you can try very short burst of water from a garden hose into the drain hose from the bottom. And you can remove the return air filter grate and access the upper portion of the hose as shown in the picture. FYI, although you can’t see it in the picture, the hose drains to the upper right, behind the big bolt head. Mossey

  15. A couple of years ago I was camped under a tree that was covered with ants. They dropped onto the Ollie and found the "weep" holes in the window tracks and were soon inside. A quick spray took care of the problem and they have never returned - of course, I've never camped under that tree again either. Over winter storage I've placed "sticky traps" inside, but, have never even caught one spider let alone anything else. Bill

  16. A moonshine distillery sounds like a hoot! Where was it? We have thoroughly enjoyed our HH membership. Honey farm, cheese farm, golf course & many wineries & breweries. We don't necessarily come out ahead when we stay at the latter two.

  17. I'd have to agree with John. I think we used 4000 the last time we did the light. It's not an easy product to use for people unaccustomed to sealing. And, it's expensive in the small tubes. But in sealants, you often get what you pay for. It's uv resistant, remains flexible for a long time (our hulls do have flex as they travel, just like boats), and is mildew resistant. Whatever you choose, make sure old caulk and residue is removed mechanically (scraping, peeling), then chemically (I'd probably do mineral spirits or goo gone first, then denatured alcohol or acetone as a cleaner) so the pores are clean. Sealants are only as good as the prep. Though we used a 3m product last time, I may look at a Sika product next time. I've used a lot of sika products building and maintaining our home, and I really like them. Unfortunately, they're not available in small tubes like 3m. πŸ€” Another note, don't expect opened tubes of sealant to be good six months later, even if you cap them. That's why the little tubes are popular. Exposure to air degrades effectiveness for most sealants. They start to "cure" in the tube. Buy the size you need, or be prepared to discard the remainder. And, check whatever you buy for expiry date. I'm not a big silicon fan, but it's generally a much easier product to work with and remove later for renewal than the 3m adhesive sealants . My husband is a fan of silicon products, so, we have this discussion from time to time.😁 Anyway, here's some info from Practical Sailor, one of my most trusted sources for all things fiberglass. Enjoy. https://www.practical-sailor.com/boat-maintenance/caulks-versus-mildew Sherry PS thank goodness you have a grandson who is willing and able to help you. That is so sweet. God bless him. S

  18. Overland, I monitored current into the inverter with the microwave turned on, I did not see any huge surge at startup..... it was pulling 78 amps pretty steadily. Of course you could, overload the inverter system but I think the inverter would just kick off line. That 250 amp fuse is there to deal with a dead short, so the trailer won’t burn down .I also suspect that it has a delay, like a slow blow fuse, but that is a guess. I will try the new circuit off that fused terminal, if it has any problems I can add a deadicated fuse and tap off the other terminal. Thanks for your comments. John Davies Spokane WA

  19. Not sure what is considered vulnerable stuff. We generally unpack food and clothes if we’re not going anywhere soon. Out storage area is covered but not enclosed. South Texas has plenty of bugs and critters but we’ve never had any kind of invasion even when storing for a couple of months. Olivers are pretty tight, presenting a real challenge for unwanted intruders. Mike

  22. A little helpful on nitrogen tire refills - How to Find Nitrogen for Tire Inflation Locating a tire merchant that offers nitrogen, is as easy as going to the Get Nitrogen Institute and searching based upon zip code. Typically, a tire fill up will cost around $5 and some shops even offer free top offs and pressure checks if you opt for nitrogen when you buy new tires. It is best to shop around and call a few tire stores in your local area to obtain the best deal. It is worth noting that it is perfectly safe to add regular air to a tire that has been filled with nitrogen. This info was gleaned from this link. https://www.carsdirect.com/car-repair/using-nitrogen-for-tire-inflation-advantages--disadvantages edit- I tried typing our zip code in on the Get Nitrogen Institute search bar, and it did not work.
