  1. So it looks like the folks that make the Maxxair Deluxe in the main area are now making a 6" fan, that should fit in the same opening at the Ventline fan in the bathroom. https://amzn.to/3dpDaeI Here is a video of it running: https://youtu.be/bkh37arD9P0?t=147 Manual: https://www.airxcel.com/docs/default-source/maxxair/11-90056_mxr-maxxfan-dome-iom-09-24-2019.pdf?sfvrsn=64261a6b_2 Looks like the same 6 1/4" opening as the ventline and similar power draw. Thoughts?

  2. We had been considering this mod for some time, after seeing this post decided to go forward with AndrewK's version of smoked glass only (no shade). Turns out somewhere between Hull 269 (2017) and Hull 468 (2019) the window style changed. The older version glass is 12.438 × 21.438, part 226093. No clips are needed for installation of this style. The newer style glass is 13.25 x 22.24, part 706073. Plus the clips needed for installation, part 429436. We now have the smaller window glass on order. Lippert will no longer be stocking this size once current stock is gone. We're getting ready to return the larger glass and the clips to Lippert. Before we do, if anyone with a 2019 or newer hull is interested in this mod we'd be happy to work out a deal.

  3. I have wondered if they left the dump levers behind the doors to prevent folks from driving off with them open. Clearly you wouldn't drive off with the door open.

  4. I was actually planning on using the Lagun table as a laptop desk, at least until I got all the feedback on how handy some people found the side dinette. I was hoping to delete the TV and not have anything hanging from the attic. If we don’t attempt to convert the side dinette into a additional storage, I think that area would make a better location for my work station since I tend to be an earlier riser than my wife and like working in the morning. LOL, I guess sometimes more is better. That set-up would require an extra Elite I as an additional TT.

  5. Here is etrailer's video on the ventline to try to make an apples to apples comparison: https://youtu.be/QsE2vakSyYo?t=70 In their video the noise difference is apparent compared to the above video with the Maxxfan. I'm definitely going to test the Maxxfan on the bench before I bother installing it.

  6. There are a couple of things to consider beyond the relatively limited reception of the Roadstar omni antenna. First, there is no AM support with this optional antenna so you'll have zero reception in this band. Maybe not a big deal for most but it is still a viable band for longer range reception and a supported mode of the entertainment system that won't work. Second, the Winegard Roadstar antenna is being, or has been, phased out and replaced by the Air 360 product line with improved performance. At some point Oliver will have to offer an alternative. I have one but wouldn't given a do-over. Much better solutions have been suggested. When needed, I use the flat Winegards RAZAR Amplified in a window. For AM/FM, an amplified Jensen Marine windshield antenna is taped to the outer shell in the attic, above insulation. Both solutions work better than the "old" Roadstar mounted on the roof.

  7. Solution found! A custom Oceanair Skyshade Cabinshade mounted to the screen door. It allows for full view and can be open/closed from inside. Andrew

  8. Sherry, They are the same roller shades used in modern Airstreams, with a different Head rail attachment point. The shade is a thin vinyl that appears would be easy to clean. Just installed it so time will tell. The install took about 15-20 minutes. Drilled three holes in the screen door and screwing in three screws. All screws and the bottom attachment point are provided. Andrew

  9. Andrewk, the shade looks great, and so easy to operate. Since these were created for marine environments, I'm guessing the shade fabric is easy to clean? Website says uv resistant. How long did it take to install? What fasteners did you choose, or were they included? Sure beats the heck out of the "shirt over the head bump cushion over the door" method we use. Even if it's a nice shirt. Lol.😆😅 Your shade looks great! Sherry

  10. One of the main reasons I want an additional monitor is so that it can be setup in a vertical orientation because it really helps with the material I creat and review on-line. I use an iPad Pro and MacBook for personal stuff, but work prefers windows systems.

  11. I wish both published db testing, as FanTastic used to. But the Maxxfan dome does seem remarkably more quiet in the videos. It's about time someone gave Ventline a competitor. Even if it turns out to be almost as noisy installed, stats show twice the cfm (200 vs 100) for a half amp more power (2 vs 1.5). So, at least only have to hear it run half as long? I'll look forward to your testing, too. We're on our second Ventline. First died about 8 years in. When it's time to replace it again, I was hoping to find something more quiet, like the marine solar vents on our boat, but they're all currently sized for much smaller cutouts, 3 to 4.7 inches. 12. Overland, I purchased standard shade size 3 through Zarcor and they customized it. Model CSH-3-W Oceanair Cabinshade - White. Size: x=21 5/8” (shade width), y=23 5/8” (shade height), z=24 1/8” (head rail). Cost $124.90. They customized x=19 1/8” and z=21 5/8”. The customizing cost $39.00 + $10.00 shipping. If you think you can cut down the shade yourself, you can get the shade online for less than $100. Andrew

  13. Just wondering if you have thought about hanging a monitor under the attic like the television and using a Lagun table as a laptop desk? Seating could be a challenge depending on how long you had to work each day. Something like a bar stool in the aisle might work. As you can see from my pre-retirement workstation, I did like a lot of monitor real estate. Mossey

  14. That's interesting news. This mod has been on my 'some day' list, but I may need to go ahead and order the glass now.

  15. I know that Honda is the gold standard for inverter generators, and about the same price as gold. I had a Champion 3400 duel fuel that I ran on propane. Very quiet. It was an excellent generator for less price than the smaller Honda. Alas, it was a bit heavy (98 lbs). I sold it and bought a Champion 2000 at Tractor Supply. Normally $399 on sale for $349. 37 lbs, same noise figures as the Honda. It’s gasoline only. It will start and run the A/C. We haven’t used it a lot. But last fall at Grand Teton the sunny weather turned cloudy and dark. Our solar couldn’t keep up and we had to run the furnace at night (and during the day), so I was glad I had the little Champion. 16. AndrewK just saw your shade post - very nice! We may have to copy you on that as well👍

  17. In the real world, I don't care too much because I've probably run the generator more to keep the fuel fresh than to actually power our place. Solar works great - but we are fairly low power users when off the grid. I wouldn't dump a lot of money into a generator unless I plan on boondocking where I need AC often.

  18. If you are not tv watchers, don't buy an antenna, imo. We bought an inexpensive attic type, small flat antenna that we carry in the cabinet over the bed. I can pick up a few channels if we're 20 to 50 miles from a tower, and it's plenty for us. Just in case we needed it for weather. We don't really use that, either, but it was only $20 or so.

  19. Fair at best, even when powered on. I listen to over the air radio at home, work, and in the shop. The camper has the worst reception of all of the antenna/receiver combinations that I use. The shop radio has a coat hanger for an antenna, the radio at work has a piece of welding wire, so that’s not saying much. hth, Ken KE0VTG

  20. Susan - A quick check using Google finds that the Ryobi 2300 is 57db while the Honda 2200 is 48 to 57db. Bill

  21. I've only had our Hull 505 now for 10 months. I had one situation last fall where the keypad cracked over one of the numbers. I called for a warranty and the RVlock company sent me a replacement front pad that showed up in 3 days. I installed it in about <5 minutes. Pull old pad off, stick new pad on. They also said that cracked pads don't necessarily stop the system from working as the unit is sealed behind the mylar pad. The system has worked well ever since, no cracks, no major signs of wear yet. The lock come with keys, and a battery powered keyfob for opening from your keychain remotely. 95% of the time...we open with the keypad. CS

  22. Do the numerals show wear and collect dirt (grease rings) after using them a lot? I don’t normally like keypad locks such as an outside garage door opener access pad or a security system panel, since the numbers you use for your code become very obvious unless you change them often. How many digits are needed to operate it? How easy is it to reset the code? Can you clean the buttons so they all look the same? John Davies Spokane WA

  24. I bought the sheets, mattress covers and blankets from AB Lifestyle. They have the measurements and all I had to tell them was that I was getting the twin mattresses. I understand they have mattress covers that now encase the entire mattress. They are lovely people to work with.

  25. We have a number of items hung in our Olliver using the velcro strips. This includes a. Apple tv box upside down. So far so good after the 1st 2000 miles. The alcohol wipe down is important. We are in mid coast Maine just north of Boothbay Harbor. Let us know if you will be in tbe area. Enjoy

  26. I don't usually quote myself but with the twin mattress pad, sheets and blanket plus a comforter there are no raised edges, bulges or anything that is not normal looking. It works fine and looks fine. Mike

  27. We use standard twin sheets. The bottom fitted sheet is a little too big and we use those elastic straps that connect to the sheets under the mattress which provides a nice tight fit. For the top sheet, it's no big deal - just a little more to tuck in. We have standard twin blankets that also tuck in nicely. For the top quilt, Carol did cut off some material and hemmed the edge. We also have a queen bed at home and find the narrow twin beds fine while on the road and camping. We got the 6" optional mattress and have a 2" foam topper on that. We've had some of our best sleep on our Oliver twins. Mike
