  1. We elected to have Oliver install the Andersen hitch during our recent visit there for service. We had been using a weight carrying hitch and made the switch for two reasons. Even though our TV has the max tow package, the maximum tongue weight allowed without a weight distribution hitch/WDH is 500 lbs. After several trips weighing our rig on a CAT scale, I noted we exceeded that allowance with fresh water onboard. Liability issues compelled us to switch to a WDH. Also we noticed porpoising with the weight carrying hitch. I am very pleased to say that has been all but eliminated and the towing experience is much more enjoyable. I will revisit the CAT scale to see how well the hitch’s weight distribution feature works. I understand that some find it challenging to reconnect the Andersen hitch under certain conditions, e.g. unlevel terrain. We have not yet had the opportunity to reconnect but hope to take advantage of the tips found in the various posts on this forum and the Oliver Owners Facebook page. - Brian

  2. We used Painted Cowboy (Daniel Jakus) to haul ours to Denver where we met him and picked up the Olly (we're from central Oregon). He's hauled lots of Oliver trailers and was very professional and his rates were reasonable Saved us a trip across the mid-west last summer, which was totally worth it. I feel like Oliver did a very thorough job inspecting our trailer, we only found one slightly loose screw on a drawer latch. Before picking up the trailer, we checked out all the info here in the forum, videos and Oliver University, which left us well prepared to begin traveling in our new Olly.

  3. You should contact @wyofilm who had a trailer delivered to Wyoming earlier this year.

  4. A broken toilet mechanism? If I was younger I would get into the RV components business and put Dometic and the rest the yahoos out of business.

  5. Or, how about something like this?

  6. Run the generator dry by switching off the fuel supply, let it idle until it dies , THEN turn off the ignition switch, and, finally, manually drain what is left in the carb bowl with a screwdriver; there shouldn’t be any noticeable smell. What you normally smell is gas evaporating from the carb. With that gas gone and the tank vent closed (if it has one, my Yamaha 2400 does not) there should be no odor. John Davies Spokane WA

  7. Lexi, glad to have you on board working this event! My thought is that a Utah/Colorado event would be more accessible to those coming from the eastern states. A west coast event would be nice but you might limit those not west of the Rockies. We’ve got a year for planning.... Mike

  8. I will have to wait and see. We have a new TV and have an ARE Z topper on order. Once the topper is installed, I can better answer your question. The Honda Handi does have a fuel cap vent shut off switch. But I will wait to see after carrying this genset if it will “off gas” fuel fumes inside the topper. TBC. -Patriot

  9. I’ve also got a Bakflip MX4. I like it a lot, I had one on my 2016 Ram as well. Quality product. Mike

  10. Susan - I've had a Bakflip MX4 for several years now. Basically I really do like it since I can fold it right up to the cab of the truck without taking it leaving plenty of room to haul my motorcycle or mulch or ... However, two words about their customer service: 1 - when a buckle broke they sent me an entire set of hardware at no charge - great for them 2 - when I put a nasty scratch in one of the panels I called them to get the name/color of the paint they use. They said that they would send me touch-up paint at no charge. After not receiving that paint and repeated calls asking simply for the color I gave up. On the advice of a local auto painting shop I repainted the MX4 with "trim & bumper" rattle can paint. The result is OK but not great. So, if they were playing baseball they'd be batting 500. Very good for baseball but certainly not up to Oliver standards. Bill

  11. Just a follow up to this post. Our first long distance trip with this bike rack. From Mesa, AZ to Davis Mountain State Park. I was very happy with the stability of the rack. I was concerned it would have some sway, but the movement of the bikes was minimal. FYI, this pic was at a Harvest Host stopover on the way (D.H. Lescombes Winery in Deming, NM). Darren

  12. Thank you all for the very kind compliments. We surely hope it serves us well. This morning I did remove the Andersen WDH and will offer it up in the classifieds for half of what we paid Oliver. The Ollie sits a tad nose high, but the Tremor is empty of cargo and so is the Ollie, we’ll see how everything looks after we load up. I think everything will level out just fine payload wise. Tomorrow morning we have scheduled the Ollie for XPEL 10 mil paint protection on the front corners and we will have the Tremor done as well. We are looking forward to seeing everyone who still has reservations at Lake Guntersville. -David

  13. We were planning on attending, plus doing 3 or 4 weeks after in TN and KY. My 87 year old mother had her first ride in an ambulance this weekend and I’ve been camped out at the hospital the past couple of days. Looks like we’re going to be care-givers the next 2-3 weeks after she gets home this coming weekend. Unless something changes we won’t be able to attend. Will know for sure by the weekend. ☹️
