Elite I Oliver Owners, Jason confirmed with their QC/Engineering department that the LE1 trailers should have 1.5" of upward travel. Therefore the upward travel on our trailer was not within the design specs. Jason offered to have our trailer inspected by their shop or a local provider to determine what might be our issue. Upon further discussion with Jason and a few more photos sent to him, we quickly determined the source of our issue was the incorrect Dexter Heavy Duty Kit Shackle was used on our single axle setup. The correct shackle kit (K71358) has shackles that are 4 5/8" in length whereas ours was the shackles you would have used on a dual axle trailer with a length of ~ 3 5/8". Ergo, our trailer is sitting ~ 1" lower that it should. I requested he send me the correct kit with new bolts, nuts, bushings, and shackles for me to install sometime next week. My best guess is someone in the factory just picked up the wrong shackles and installed. I am sure Jason will provide them with the feedback required to establish a QC process that inspects this area so it never happens again. I would however, recommend other 2020 LE1 owners out there inspect their shackles to ensure the correct ones were used on their trailers.

One of the features we like about the EL2 Twin Bed layout is the ability to sit in the "Stateroom" and enjoy the 180 degree views through the windows while having something to eat or drink. Of course you need a table to do this, i.e. a Lagna Table is one solution. We decided to try another approach, but will keep the Lagna Table option as a Backup alternative. The attached picture shows the prototype (not the final finished model.) I wanted to try this idea to see if it was feasible before I committed to more expensive wood etc. Our plans are to add a "Nautical Theme" to our Oliver, i.e. Teak Table Tops with Compass Roses etc. This pictures shows our inexpensive Pull Out Table made out of 1/2 inch plywood with Teak Trim. So far it has exceeded our expectations, although maybe a little small to have a meal at.

I voted. I’m towing with a Ford F-250. I don’t use the Andersen. My F-250, while generically called a 3/4 ton under the accepted truck classification naming, has an actual payload rating of 3,334 lbs. so I could easily carry 1 ton of payload and still have plenty of extra left over. My truck as optioned will tow 12,600 lbs and a tongue weight rating of 1,250 lbs. so no Andersen needed for weight distribution, and the truck has electronic trailer sway control as part of the towing package so I don’t need the Andersen for anti-sway either. The dual axle Elite II has proven to be very stable when towing. I’ve never noticed the slightest problem with trailer sway.

Another option; Went this route and sealed the inside lid of the Action Packer with foam weather strip for Andersen chocks and blocks. Secured with Rhino ratchet straps. Small master locks (visual deterrent only) certainly not going to stop a determined thief.

FWIW, it has now been 7+ weeks I've been running the new firmware on our 3000 XC Pro and haven't had any problems since the upgrade. My Oliver ticket related to the [20] error code has been closed for several weeks now. What may be confusing some folks is that there are 3 sets of firmware on the inverter... U1, U2, and U3. You have to keep scrolling until you see the U3 version - that's the one that is being upgraded. U1 and U2 remain unchanged during this upgrade.

Here is a draft delivery checklist prompted, in part, by comments regarding a recent inverter-mount failure (see below). This delivery inspection checklist began with one used by NCeagle for his delivery, to which I've added items. The list is almost certainly incomplete -- what other items would you suggest to help new buyers? Thanks to Oliver for providing this educational ad-free forum, and to all of you for your forum posts that have contributed to this list. I divided the list into two parts: (1) the actual delivery day inspection and (2) items for further inspection at DCSP. I plan on testing the list in 3 weeks when we pick up Hull 792, and will refine the list based on this experience (and with your additions, suggestions, comments, etc). The list is in pdf form. Our TV has a 600 lb Tongue Weight Limit so we thought that any additional storage would be out of the questions. As it turns out, the used 2019 EL2 we bought already had the Storage Basket on it so we tried it out. We added a Wood Enclosure to secure out stuff and then measured the actual weight using a Tongue Scale. The empty TW was 480 lbs and included 2 half full LPG tanks and about 30% full fresh water tank, which I was encouraged to find. I remeasured the TW again before our first trip with the Storage full of Chocks/Levels/Hoses/some tools etc and found the Loaded TW was at 580 lbs, perfect! I need to redo the Storage Box and include a Top Hinge and rodo the dimensions so our Honda Generator fill fit when required. Of course all the other stuff will have to be temporarily relocated inside the SUV and cooling/exhaust vent added.

I will chime in because I went with Dicor lap sealant non leveling. I applied it to the under side of the outside mount frame and put it in the opening with four bolts in place. Then I put the inside mount frame in place and hand tightened the nuts with very little force. This assured me the all was lined up properly. I smooth out what squeezed out by dipping my finger in water and forming a bead around the frame. I let this sit for 24 hours before installing the ac. When I torqued the bolt to 9 ft lbs I looked up on top and saw a couple spots where my formed bead had some small bulges but I'm satisfied that I have a good seal. When time permits I'm planing to write up my version of this AC install.

Now I am getting the notification intermittently. Logged on four times today and only one of those times did I get the notification, but get this... I got the notification in duplicate. One right after the other, and with the same time stamp! There are gremlins in the machine. Ha ha!

But - inquiring minds simply want to know.🤔

Good news QM ! I am happy that you have got to the bottom of this and will soon be getting the issue corrected. I am relieved to know that my Elite will have more than a half inch suspension clearance. I will check this upon delivery to ensure lightning did not strike twice 😉.

As far as the Dinette Table is concerned, I've already consider the same idea there, it shouldn't be a problem. Of course the Pull out Table on either the NightStand or Dinette Table won't be on the same Plane.

I am trying to send more pics but I am having trouble. The Pull Out Table relies on friction to keep it in place, It is a tight fit, although adjustable to your taste. The Table is 13 inch wide and can be pulled out 15 inches without any additional support. It can also be pulled out a total of 19 inches but does require a support prop underneath, which rests on the Basement Door wall. Hopefully I'll figure out why my pics aren't working, they show all of this.

You do need a certain amount up front - one must offset the load attached to the rear 11/4 " carrier. Balance is important- The art of front to back distribution - exposed: Simple really. Happy Friday. RB

We moved away from the orange packets and blue variety to Happy Camper and it really works. We put a scoop in toilet, fill to rim swish to dissolve and flush. Also couple quarts & 1/2 scoop for the sinks.

I like those but I have had hit and miss luck with those plastic bayonet style clasps on backpacks and whatnot. Obviously some are better than others, but that's not a place I'd want to test my luck.

Alan, NCEagle (John) found a slick use of a SW feature and sent this to me earlier in a PM when I asked that same question: "... I use the software switch called "Charger Ignition Control". If "auto-on" the charger won't work without a car ignition - which the Ollie doesn't have so the charger is off when that switch is on. Conversely, when the ignition control switch is set to "off" the charger will charge the battery whenever it has the power to do so." Craig

I know the Anderson system has been discussed at length for 1/2 ton tow vehicles, but I'm curious how many folks with heavy duty pickups (i.e., 3/4 ton) use the Anderson weight-distributing hitch. Do any of you use it?

One more thing, currently the Top get screwed down with 4 Stainless Steel screws for security, the buggies are redundant. The finished version will have a SS Hinged Top and 2 locks.

It held in by friction, you have to exert a little effort to Pull it out. It stayed put for 2500 miles.

I think that's not only overkill, but probably problematic, years down the road . Especially with the Houghton. Everything is tightly engineered to seal.

I had a 2006 Ram 3500, it did not need more than a cheap ball mount. I now have a Land Cruiser, it definitely needs the Andersen. I voted, I hope that was OK. I like polls, thanks for posting one. 😬 John Davies Spokane WA

I’ve been reading about some significant challenges getting through Canada over on AirForums. Hopefully that situation is resolved before your trip.

We picked up our Elite II with a Tacoma. It had the TRD Supercharger, so power was decent. The problem we ran into was two fold: first, the gas tank isn’t very big and gas mileage was poor. I was looking for a gas station every 150 to 200 miles. Second, payload weight was marginal and the bed was small, so we had to be selective on what we loaded. I upgraded to a Ram 1500 with the 5.7L V8 and got better gas mileage than the Tacoma. I recently upgraded to a Ram 2500 with the 6.7L Cummins and my gas mileage has improved even more, plus there are no issues with the amount of cargo I load.

John. I hope the Canadian's open the borders in time for summer travel, but I don't have a lot of faith it will happen. As you said - the West still has a lot to be explored. Hope all works out - Heck - you still have that little hamlet of a state - Montana to really delve into.😜

Thanks for the kind offer, after borrowing the 2020 edition from the library, I bought the 2021 version, which shipped from the publisher just a week ago, and I also downloaded the "dumb" pdf version (172 MB) so I would be able to use my iPad anywhere. Unfortunately the Milepost app for IOS is really lame, it requires an internet connection to see all the features, hardly suitable for the middle of AK. But logging in to the app and opening it up to your purchased book does offer that download button in the top right corner. You can also log in to the Milepost website to read, but again, that takes internet. Please offer your 2020 paper book to somebody else. FYI if you plan to travel inside any Canadian National Parks you can't have a firearm, in my case I don't plan to stop at any, but if I did, I would camp outside the Park and leave the bear rifle locked in the trailer while I toured the Park in the Land Cruiser. I regularly tow with a JD 3038E - top speed about 5 mph. Good turn radius, wonderful rear vision. Really sucks on the Interstate. But on the other hand - in 4WD it rocks..... I have never towed my Oliver Elite II with a "mid-sized" pickup. However, I did tow previous RV's with a Tacoma. It was OK in that it never let me down. It did make it up western mountains and had enough brakes to handle going down those same grades. However, I never really liked the sound of the engine as it worked really hard on many of the steeper grades. AND - what I was towing weighed just shy of 4,000 pounds versus the Oliver's 6,000 to 6,500 pounds. I'm certain that I would have switched (for safety and comfort reasons) to a larger Tow Vehicle but I had already do that by the time my Oliver came along. My reason for switching earlier was gas! One time when traveling west on Interstate 70 I was headed into a 40 mph head wind at a vehicle speed of 60mph. My gas mileage was 4 miles to the gallon! With the small gas tank that is in the Tacoma I was stopping about every hour and a half for gas and was constantly worried that there would not be a station when I needed one. I actually really liked my Tacoma but I really do not believe that it makes for a very good tow vehicle for the Elite II in all but the very narrowest of circumstances. Bill

Years ago I learned the hard way about metal hooks on bungee cords. John is right, please avoid them if possible.

That should work great. May I suggest a different tie down system? Those steel hooked bungee cords are nasty and can remove a finger or an eye if you are not really careful. These ROK Straps are terrific, they look very classy and they probably won’t damage any of your body parts. I use them inside my Yakima Rocket Box and also to secure my two MaxTrax together, plus other applications. For anchors you can install stainless 1” footman loops in the front and back. If you want to stick with hooks, a safer choice is SmartStraps. John Davies Spokane WA

There is a link in the right hand sidebar to a memo regarding the remote panel issue (I have attached the PDF file). It says: Subject: Compatibility limitations between the FXC remote panel 808-0817-01 and Freedom XC PRO 2000W and Freedom XC PRO 3000W models Description: FXC remote panels (part number: 808-0817-01) with older Firmware versions, when connected to Freedom XC PRO 2000W or Freedom XC PRO 3000W models, may present issues such as unavailability of configuration options, displaying incorrect error codes. FXC remote panels (part number: 808-0817-01) with Serial Number 98001812100281 or greater are fully compatible with Freedom XC PRO 2000W (part number 818-2010) model. FXC remote panels (part number: 808-0817-01) with Serial Number 98002004101190 or greater are fully compatible with Freedom XC PRO 3000W (part number 818-3010) model. FXC remote panels with Serial Numbers older than the ones listed above may present compatibility issues. All FXC Bluetooth remote panels (part number: 808-0817-02) are fully compatible with Freedom XC PRO 2000W and Freedom XC PRO 3000W models. How can I resolve the problem? Customers can call Xantrex Technical Support and request RMA (Return Material Authorization) to exchange their older remotes with newer version. Customers can also choose to exchange the older remotes with the Bluetooth enabled remotes (part number: 808-0817-02) for an additional price. What I read is that some older remote panels are not compatible with XC Pro 2000W and 3000W inverters. They give the serial number reference to tell if yours is compatible or not. I'm not sure where you find the serial numbers; perhaps Oliver can supply these? This may not be the same issue we are having since our remote panel is giving us the "20" error warning, which means the remote panel is not communicating with the inverter. Thus it is totally inoperable. According to the Xantrex memo, our remote panel should be compatible as it is a bluetooth enabled version. Oliver has instructed me to reset the inverter and see what firmware version displays on the remote panel. I will do this tomorrow, early PDT so Jason will be available to assist. I don't know if the problem is programing, configuration or hardware; Olive and Xantrex both think it is a programing issue. I just want the remote display to work so we don't have to dig under the bed to access the inverters display and on/off switch. Hi @SeaDawg, I'm not using the Dometic thermostat for the Houghton - just the remote. The cycling is probably normal because it does it most (every 6 minutes or so) when it's "maintaining" a temperature. If I turn it down to cool the trailer, it cycles much less and cools the trailer down quickly. I trust the thermometers I'm using, but that 67F felt like 55F with the fan on and the AC running. It was too cold and that was good news! I'll have to play around with the dehumidifier function a bit more once the humidity gets bad here in NC. The manual says to set the mode on dehumidify and then set the temperature 1 degree cooler than the room temp. I just noticed when I tried that my sensors humidity didn't move much but it wasn't super humid to start with. I spent the past few hours removing the butyl and putting on the foam seal. I like it better already as I was able to get the bolts correctly torqued and the foam is 1/2 compressed. I did use the spare foam to build support pads in the back and level it off too. Hope this works better. I don't think the butyl was leaking, but it was getting too messy and I thought it would eventually fail. Maybe the way I put the butyl on (too much?) or the weight of the unit pressing down on the butyl in the recent heat made room for too much settling. All I've ever used butyl for before are windows, so this was new to me. Glad we have options.

Ray and Susan - the pix John is posting are of things likely not in your trailer either because he's added them or they from the earlier model year EII's. Earlier models up through 2019 had a Progressive Dynamics 4000 Energy Center under our Dinette Seat. (PD4000 Energy Center under dinette seat, but with Cover OFF) - The PD4000 unit housed AC Breakers, SOME DC fuses (but not all) and the power Converter that charges our batteries. The rest of the DC Fuses were in a small fuse box in the attic next to the surge protector display. In the newer models like yours they switched to a new set of energy panels for AC Breakers and DC Fuses (all in one convenient place under the dinette) as shown in your pix. They also changed to either a 2000 W or 3000 W combined Xantrex inverter/charger...which is able to be programmed for a charge profile for Lithium Batteries from a variety of vendors. So looking at some of our posts for other pre 2020 unit pictures could be a bit confusing if you are thinking your missing some new or special feature. Craig

Another thought for the simple installation. I installed Battle Born batteries before ever camping in our new trailer. I keep the AC breaker to the converter/charger off at all times and charge the batteries almost exclusively from solar. I have only used the converter/charger to charge the batteries twice, when we camped in full shade for more than six days. When I did, I turned the breaker to the converter/charger on and charged from a generator, until the batteries were at about 100% and then turned it off. I can’t imagine this very infrequent use of the converter/charger will have any negative impact on the batteries. I must say I like keeping it as simple as possible and rarely even carry the generator. Andrew

John, You sum up the contradictions in finding the perfect TV/RV/Off-road/HI-way vehicle very well. I too started out with an off road capable RV mind set, and after way to much consideration, evolved to the EII with an off road capable TV. However, I'll pick at one point, the ride of modern 3/4 ton diesel powered truck - its much nicer than you may have experienced. I held a very similar opinion, having owned a 2007 GMC 3/4 ton Duramax, had to put 500lbs in bed to just to tame the ride. Now, I just recently rode around in a 2018 Ford 3/4 ton, extra cab (or what ever they call it..) fully loaded out, diesel, huge towing specs. It was an amazing ride, no comparison to my previous big truck. I went looking for bad road, potholes, etc. just amazing. So, when I get over the price they want for these things, I may end up with one. Used, low mileage 2017/2018 ones are as scarce as hens teeth, and priced accordingly. Quite honestly wish I can get my old GMC there, but, I know its not worth the upkeep and effort. As for my dog, he doesn't care, as long as he's riding, he's happy. Course, the older I get, the more I'm like him, simple things make the day.
