  1. Greetings! We will be traveling to Hohenwald in a week or so and wanted to offer our services to anyone who might need something while we are there...specific information, measurement, picture of something, etc. We are looking forward to the factory tour and understanding options prior to our October delivery. Just let us know if you need anything!

  3. Hello All, CB's, a blast from the '70-'80s past, brought communication and entertainment to many folks back in the CW Mcall days. I was just wondering if anyone of you uses them today. I travel by myself, well, not quite dog in tow, and I just installed a CB in my Ram 1500. Mainly for entertainment purposes. Although informational broadcasts about accidents and road hazards have saved me much wasted travel time sitting in stopped or slow traffic. Not to mention the ever-appreciated "BEAR" call. Yes, I know the expletives can fly freely on the "Driver" channel (19), which isn't very family-friendly. But you have 38 more channels to choose from. What intrigues me is the possible usefulness in a caravan or group travel setting. Their range (over other devices), along with zero cell communication opportunity or (via SSB) in emergency need, is the driving factor in my resurgence in interest. I also get "that is what cell phones are for" Share your thoughts Pat Joliet, IL

  5. We have a CB in our jeep. Mandatory when we are roaming back roads in our area where log and rock trucks are active. Most roads have a sign designating the channel to tune to. There are usually mile markers along the road or on the pavement. Truckers will announce, over the CB, what mile they are at and whether going in or out. I don't know if this is common practice in other areas, but it certainly is in rural Oregon

  6. I have one, but I never got around to moving it from my old vehicle to my truck. I had it for a few years in the before times and I think the best use of it was in hearing traffic info from the truckers. I found though that the range was pretty limited, though that might have been my lack of expertise in choosing and tuning the antenna. But when we got the truck, I wanted a pair of handhelds, and ended up going with ham radios (which I converted for MURS channels so that we didn't have to worry about getting licenses). Those have been so nice that I'd actually forgotten about wanting to install something in the truck.

  8. Since the vinegar (very mild acid) solution helped, you may want to try the Starbrite cleaner next. It's also mildly acidic, but stronger than vinegar. I wouldn't use a combination wax and polish til I got rid of the black streaks. You'd just be sealing anything left behind with more wax. Anything beyond soap and water or vinegar, I'd try in a small area first, and rinse well when done.

  9. Search brought up this three year old thread. Btw, this is how I used "search" to find it.

  10. Well, opinions are like.... you know, everyone has one. Found this, also at eTrailer: “Typical spring deflection is up to 1-1/2 inches when at capacity. The recommended clearance with leaf spring suspension on an unloaded trailer is between 2 - 2-1/2 inches. You should have sufficient clearance with your loaded trailer, as leaf springs only tend to deflect 1-1/2 inch when carrying a load.” https://www.etrailer.com/question-171401.html And from the Dexter Mother Ship itself: However, Dexter pretty much leaves it up to the trailer manufacturer to decide what is “sufficient”. Or not sufficient. 🙄 Dexter Applications Manual John Davies Spokane WA

  11. I've heard about this engineering department. Out of curiosity, I googled (ducked?) 'recommended suspension clearance for trailers'. The only relevant result I got was a comment from an eTrailer rep who said that they recommend 3".

  12. We bought a used 2017 Oliver Elite 1 last year, literally like new, never used. It had all of the options I wanted, with exception of missing the tankless water heater. It also came with the WiFi extender, which I wouldn’t have gotten. We’ve had quite a few good camping trips with it, it fits our small family of 4 well so far, but will likely be too small for us in a couple years when the kiddos get bigger. Haven't had occasion to use the A/C yet, and I also removed the microwave because we didn’t use it and I wanted the storage. Had to make a few repairs already: the Atwood heater control board got water damaged; replaced with a Dinosaur control board. The water drain line got clogged with plastic shavings; cut it out and replaced with an Uponor style ball valve (larger diameter fitting). The middle galley drawer came loose during transit, ripping out the four 1/2 inch screws that secure it to the track; replaced with 3/4 long screws and some wood glue. Currently use painters tape to hold the drawers closed while traveling; still trying to devise a better long term solution. Also had an Andersen D ring fail; replaced with a stainless one. The water pump doesn’t draw from the bottom of the water tank, and I have to lift the nose when at 25% capacity; I’ll resolve that problem later. Otherwise, we’re having fun with our little trailer! We had ordered a Casita (and still need to cancel our order), but this is the same size and floor plan we wanted, only much nicer. Looking forward to bumping into the rest of you on the road! Ben
