  1. Looks slightly more complicated than the Webb Telescope. Does it take as long to deploy?

  2. I'd prefer a new Airstream without screws, staples and rivets. Wait! I have one. It's called an Ollie!

  5. OK, it’s not an Ollie, but it certainly is special….. I really like the air intake and odd random holes and grooves behind the wheel wells. It must be reeeeeealy fast. https://expeditionportal.com/weird-whale-camper-trailer-design/ I would like to see the floor plan, would it be at all usable with all the parts collapsed? How about inclement or windy weather? Water leaks? The renderings do not show any appliances or rooftop equipment, where are they? John Davies Spokane WA

  6. No - that is the EV power boost, v-8 diesel, atomic wind powered version. 🤣

  7. I thought the same. My first thought was "yes" to a bigger fridge. But now that I think about it, would a bigger fridge be out of proportion to the compact scale of the Oliver? I find the smaller fridge adequate. Compared to our old 6.7 cu ft Dometic "Demonic" fridge (I hated that fridge) from our Leisure Travel Van, the Oliver Norcold has a bigger freezer and the shelving is more thoughtfully configured. More important, though, is how much more efficient it is. We would have to run the Dometic on the coldest setting all the time to get it anywhere near a safe temperature. I say, keep the small fridge. A bigger fridge would result in loss of valuable cupboard space.

  9. Thanks topgun2 and SeaDawg for the information! I’ve viewed the videos at Oliver University several months ago and will do another refresher as our date is coming up soon. What’s interesting is the Walk Around and What to Expect at Delivery videos are not included under University (at least not on the Apple iPad), it does displays under Owners > Video. We’ve also made arrangements to stay 2 additional nights at DCSP based on the information we’ve read on this forum. Thanks again and have a good one!

  10. We started our 4 1/2 road trip to the South and Southwest on November 30. It was 19 degrees when we left New Harbor, Maine at 4 AM. The first chilly night was designed to make mileage and crash for an overnight. We stayed in the Cracker Barrel in Frackville, PA. We have stayed here before. It is not busy and easy on and off. This day included 2 plus hours for driving in snow on route 84 and 81. First time pulling Beacon in the snow. It was cold down to 23 at night. The next evening we stayed at a Harvest Host in Wytheville, VA. Right off rout 81. The last half mile to the farm was a little challenging and included crossing a 12 ft wide wooden bridge. This was our first harvest host experience and it was very positive. We got some honey, eggs and an alpaca stuffed animal for our new grandson. I would highly recommend this host. Tom was really nice and other Oliver's have stayed there. We went in the pens with Tom and petted the alpacas. We learned a lot here. On to Pigeon Forge, TN and Pine Mountain RV Park. Great location if you like being near all the attractions but just off the parkway. Nice and very well kept full service r.v. Park. I would also recommend it. Very well kept and very clean with great showers. We spent 2 days in the Smoky Mountains. Then to Oliver for annual maintenance on Beacon. We stayed right at Oliver in their new campground. Service went great. There weren't any deliveries or others camped for service while we were there. There were new units brought over from the factory to be prepared for delivery. They also have a dump station. Very handy. Tonight we are at McKinney COE campground just north of Atlanta off route 75. Really nice spot. First time for us at a COE campground. Really nice and with d with my geezer pass hard to beat for $14. We got a pull through site right on the lake! Off to Aiken State Park in SC to see some family tomorrow. Sunday we start out trip to Naples FL. Here are some pictures.

  12. I was told that they only have around 30 open slots left for the 2022 model year. Best to check with the Oliver sales department on when they switch to the 2023 model Olivers,

  14. Our last night in western NC mountains before heading home to coastal South Carolina. We’ve been in the low to mid 20’s each night since pickup on the 19th. The furnace is wonderful, keeping the thermostat at 61 degrees has kept us plenty warm.

  17. Here's a shortcut to Oliver University. A wealth of knowledge is in there. Study as much as you can, and pickup lessons will make much more sense. https://olivertraveltrailers.com/oliver-university/ The lovely new campsites at Oliver have been discussed in a few threads. You should reserve a spot for your pickup date. Give your rep a call. Also, it's been very helpful for a lot of people to stay somewhere close to hohenwald a few nights after pickup. Test and use absolutely every system, in case you need to return to the factory for adjustments. Davy Crockett and a few other state parks are within a few hours' drive, and Tennessee parks are quite nice. Congratulations. Your wait is almost over.

  18. W-23 - Apparently you have not visited the Oliver University yet or viewed the Oliver Videos. Simply go to the top of this page, click on home, click on Owners and then click on University or Videos. A complete set of videos concerning delivery day are under the Videos section while a bunch of other stuff is under the University section. You are strongly encouraged to view as many of these as you can prior to your delivery so that you are better prepared to enjoy your new Oliver. Yes, there are camping spots available right outside the new delivery area and your first night there will already have been arranged for you by your Sales Team. However, if for any reason you wish to stay in these spots additional nights, you should arrange that in advance with your Sales Agent. Bill

  19. But I'm afraid it does. The 4.5 cu ft Norcold will be the smallest RV fridge we've ever had. My wife thinks it's adequate for a couple for 5 days (which I figure will be our max before dumping tanks). Assuming no other fridge but bulk drinks stored in the truck until needed, what say you experienced owners? 5 days food in the Norcold?

  20. As I mentioned in the survey post, Carrie and I keep an ARB 12 volt in our tow vehicle. We have done this for about 3 years. The frig in our current camper is smaller than Oliver's. We would rather not have a larger frig in the Oliver. We have been completely satisfied with having the ARB Element in our tow vehivle and moving food to the trailer frig as needed. We do have a dual battery setup in the back of our tow vehicle to power the ARB.

  21. Congratulations on your Oliver! Great to hear you are staying warm with those low temperatures. We are scheduled to pick up our Oliver next month in mid-February and are super excited! I’m curious on the delivery day process/agenda, could anyone share what that is like? I thought I read somewhere that the Oliver facility now has a spot with hookups to stay overnight.

  22. I’m planning on a ARB 50 size unit in the truck. No reason to worry about keeping food cold. For our family of four I’m sure it’ll pay for itself on the first trip, eating out can get expensive!

  23. I thought that I heard you go by. Sorry that we could not have made your short stay here in the NC mountains a bit toastier. But, it sure is pretty. Unfortunately, I'm guessing that the temps down in Coastal SC were not so much different. However, as you know, it will not be but a day or two until things warm up considerably down there and you can get to that first real cleaning of your new baby. Bill

  26. We have lived near Wasilla for over 18 years and it is our permanent residence. We have been trailer camping there since 2017 and have spent about 180 nights in our Escape 19 all in Alaska. We have only spent one night in a site with partial hookups. Our typical trip is about 2 weeks and we tend to stay in one place. Our two favorite places in Alaska are the BLM campground at Tangle Lakes on the Denali Highway and the Valdez Glacier Campground which is operated by Fort Greeley for the City of Valdez. We typically have a purpose in mind for our trips such as fishing, berry picking or hunting. The uses of the new Oliver will be similar as we like to find a good place and stay there. The Creelake handle is based on past life, have not been to Sask in over a decade. We will not be leaving Alaska during the summer months at all if possible. So the Oliver will be stored with a friend (who owns an Escape 21 and a Scamp) in Colorado for use in the lower 48. We are westerners at heart with roots around Walden, Colorado. We are interested more in the off grid places such as we have found in Wyoming, Nevada, and eastern Oregon and the like.

  27. These are from trips we've made in our van, but they are definitely in the spirit of the post. We are truly lucky out west to be able to find so many cool places off the beaten path

  28. Were you actually on snow covered highways that first day? I don’t have the nerves for that. I pulled “Mouse” out just last week onto the 2 inches of dry snow on our driveway to reposition it inside the RV bay and was having trouble steering. I know that some members go skiing with their trailers, I just can’t get over that…. I would be completely freaked out. Count me as one more big fan of COE campgrounds, I love them. If you ever get to WA you can spend all summer in Lake Roosevelt Corps CGs in the east side of the state. John Davies Spokane WA
