  1. We picked up our Ollie 1/10. Had an exciting week long trip back home and have our next trip in a week. We saw an Oliver heading west as we headed home to NC. Hope to see more of the Oliver family out in the wild. Look for us in national parks, harvest host and BLM lands. Looking forward to the Oliver Rally in March! Follow us on Instagram Road2trails.

  2. We had a nice visit at McKinney Falls State Park in Austin. Nice Park with easy hiking trails to a couple of small waterfalls. We got in to Austin for some music and beverages last night. Out first time to Austin. The Capitol building is really impressive. We arrived at Speegleville COE park on Waco Lake in Waco, TX today. Really nice park. We have a nice lake front site here. The grounds are terrific and we have brand new electric. We are here for a few days before we head to Fort Worth. Lots of wildlife in this park. We saw 3 armadilos. First time for us seeing one. One of them lives just below our camp site toward the lake. Our Tundra needed an oil change and tire rotation. I got that done this afternoon . It worked out well!!!! We will do some site seeing including all of the Mongolia stuff the next few days. We head west after our upcoming stay in Fort Worth. So far it has been a terrific trip.

  5. Thank you all reading my note , your advise and supporting the reasons for buying the RV trailer and yes, it is our first one. As Topgun mentioned and when a local tells me that there is nothing to see in their small town, this exactly what i will do -go and see for myself. The very last thing we want to do is to invade other peoples privacy and respect their space. One thing we have learned living in our part of texas - be friendly, courteous but dont come over unless you are invited. We have read many posts here and i think we will be prepared for our first trip-hope it will be great with no major issues and see all or some of you on the road someday. I will post delivery day comments in a few weeks.

  6. This is impressive……. https://pressroom.toyota.com/standing-tall-all-new-2023-sequoia-full-size-suv-is-ready-to-make-its-mark/, There are still a few things I don't care for, and they haven’t published the payload specs, but if my LC 200 died, I would look very hard at a Sequoia TRD Pro. Remove the heavy third row seats and put drawers underneath the adjustable platform: Add the taller springs from a Tundra TRD Pro. Go have fun….. It should be a great match for the big Ollie. 7. We started our 4 1/2 road trip to the South and Southwest on November 30. It was 19 degrees when we left New Harbor, Maine at 4 AM. The first chilly night was designed to make mileage and crash for an overnight. We stayed in the Cracker Barrel in Frackville, PA. We have stayed here before. It is not busy and easy on and off. This day included 2 plus hours for driving in snow on route 84 and 81. First time pulling Beacon in the snow. It was cold down to 23 at night. The next evening we stayed at a Harvest Host in Wytheville, VA. Right off rout 81. The last half mile to the farm was a little challenging and included crossing a 12 ft wide wooden bridge. This was our first harvest host experience and it was very positive. We got some honey, eggs and an alpaca stuffed animal for our new grandson. I would highly recommend this host. Tom was really nice and other Oliver's have stayed there. We went in the pens with Tom and petted the alpacas. We learned a lot here. On to Pigeon Forge, TN and Pine Mountain RV Park. Great location if you like being near all the attractions but just off the parkway. Nice and very well kept full service r.v. Park. I would also recommend it. Very well kept and very clean with great showers. We spent 2 days in the Smoky Mountains. Then to Oliver for annual maintenance on Beacon. We stayed right at Oliver in their new campground. Service went great. There weren't any deliveries or others camped for service while we were there. There were new units brought over from the factory to be prepared for delivery. They also have a dump station. Very handy. Tonight we are at McKinney COE campground just north of Atlanta off route 75. Really nice spot. First time for us at a COE campground. Really nice and with d with my geezer pass hard to beat for $14. We got a pull through site right on the lake! Off to Aiken State Park in SC to see some family tomorrow. Sunday we start out trip to Naples FL. Here are some pictures.

  8. Wow, how things have changed. FYI here is a 2016 build sheet for a floor model that was for sale, with a base price of $48,500. 2016-Oliver-Legacy-Elite-II-Twin-Model ORDER SHEET WITH PRICING.pdf Of course, the options and standard features items are way different today. "Mouse" hull 218 was delivered in May 2017, and the base price was $49,900, with options amounting to $11,695, for a total of $61,595. John Davies Spokane WA

  9. Looks like a great vehicle as most Toyota products are, I don't see my wife giving up her new Lexus, but it is also a Toyota product. I personally never cared for a large SUV for towing, including Suburban, Tahoe, Excursion, Sequoia, etc., but now the new Waggoner has also interred in the picture. All probably good choices for towing the Oliver, but the Crew Cab pickup will always be my choice, just much more versatile for me.

  13. We are now taking delivery of our Ollie II on March 4. After 40 some years in business, Linda and I retired or so we thought. We spent the first few months traveling abroad and enjoying the time off and doing things we wanted to do. Then 2020 came along and everything changed overnight. Early on I decided to remodel our country home and I remodeled it to death. Then came the burn- out syndrome. We suffered long isolations and numerous days and nights, thinking and deciding if this was the life we wanted to live. Because of my business, we often traveled abroad and we have seen Europe and other countries more than we have seen our own beautiful country and state, and I am not saying that we have not been anywhere but all we knew was large cities and airports, taxis from the airport to a hotel, meetings, and then, back to the airport. Regretfully, we did not stop and smell the roses, mainly because of me. Our first trip will start from Tennessee, NC, SC, FL and return back home driving and stopping in small towns along the Gulf Coast, visiting friends and relatives that we have not seen in many years. We did discover HH and became members. What better way is there to visit meet and talk to every day hard-working people and businesses such as farms, wineries, breweries, etc. We will gladly support them - one overnight stay should be enough. After the first trip we will concentrate seeing and visiting our state and neighboring states. If we can, and there is availability to national parks, it will be a bonus. There is so much to do and see. Hope we will live long enough.

  15. I had to change the settings on my Blue Sky solar controller and replace the 6 year old PD4045 with one that was lithium capable. Other than cleaning up some of the cabling it was just a drop in replacement. I reused the hold down straps and added some cushioning on the bottom and sides of the battery tray. When I add a third I will have to change a couple of settings on the solar controller. Mike

  19. I don’t have an Oliver but do have a 2020 zr2 diesel and tow a nucamp TAB which weighs I would guess just under 3000lbs loaded. I love this truck, amazing off road and with the diesel it tows without breaking a sweat. I live in Colorado , it goes up the passes at 2200 rpm. Decent mileage too. The reason Chevy dropped the tow rating from 7500lbs on the other Colorado versions to 5000 on the zr2 is because of the altered bumper/grill set up for off roading . It changes the airflow evidently and they were concerned with overheating which I have never had an issue with. The truck has the same drive train as the higher capacity versions. I plan on towing an elite 1 with it.

  20. Hi, Nick and Linda. Sounds like a great plan! I take it this is your first RV. Welcome to the lifestyle. We've had the good fortune to have traveled most of this country in the past 23 years. It's not just the places, it's the people, too. We've met some wonderful people because of RVing. Some became lifelong friends, others just happy memories, but we're so happy to have met all of them. Although we've been doing this for a while, things are changing out there and we've spent a lot of time this past year learning new lessons and re-learning some old ones. For RVing in general, there are lots of online resources, including some really good YouTube channels. There are a few RV content creators that we've been following lately. Not too many Oliver owners, but we've found some of the Airstream and Casita owners have good tips for traveling in smaller trailers. FYI (and forgive me if you already know this), there are some accepted RVing behaviors that have been standardized over the years. RV etiquette, if you will. A few that come to mind: Don't walk through other people's campsites, even if they're not there. Dim your headlights in the campground after dark. Don't leave your outside lights on all night. Don't let your dog bark excessively. Little things like that make campgrounds nicer for everyone and are appreciated by all. March will be here before you know it. Hope to meet you on the road someday!

  21. I remember sitting in a café in Oakley, KS a few years ago having breakfast. I was thinking about why in the world would someone have decided to found a town right out here in the middle of nowhere. When my very young waitress came over to refill my coffee cup I asked her what there was to do and/or see in this town and her reply was reasonably predictable, " Nothing! I'm getting out of here just as soon as I can!", she replied. So, instead of walking back to my truck and continuing on down the Interstate I headed into town just to see what was there. Well, just outside of the main town is a wonderful bronze statue of Buffalo Bill ( https://www.visitoakleyks.com/buffalo-billcultural-center ) and in town is a rustic (but free) fossil museum (the Fick Fossil and History Museum). A short drive south of town will get you to a very strange area (at least for the prairie) where there are these "towers" of rock in which fossils can be found - My point is that I too have seen a bunch of this world but there is certainly a bunch to see right here in the USofA - if only we look for it. Good luck on your journey.

  22. I think your outlook for Oliver traveling is great. Traveling abroad right now is a bit iffy and there is so much to see right here in the US. We also spent a lot of time in Europe, lived in 3 different countries for years and feel we had seen a lot. The US, not so much. So, we’re seeing it in our Oliver, state by state, park by park! Good luck - Mike

  23. Our last night in western NC mountains before heading home to coastal South Carolina. We’ve been in the low to mid 20’s each night since pickup on the 19th. The furnace is wonderful, keeping the thermostat at 61 degrees has kept us plenty warm.

  26. We have moved on from Florida. We had lots of stops as we worked our way north and west. A very cool Harvest Host stop in Tallahassee, a collectible car museum. Wow, the cars, motor cycles, outboard motors and other memorabilia was amazing. They had Batmobiles. Yes 3 of them! It is loud at night as it is on a busy road at the junction of I 10. There were 6 other campers parked with us spread out on a large grassy area. It was definitely worth the stop. Our last Florida stop was Fort Pickens National Seashore near Pensacola Beach. The campground is nothing special but the fort and seashore was amazing. You are on a road driving miles in the dunes along the gulf. It is like you are on the moon! If you go try to get loop A. We met some nice folks in that park. We also spent 4 nights at Dauphin Island Alabama. We are finishing up a week in New Orleans. We splurged and are staying at French Quarter RV Resort. The park is a 5 minute walk to the French Quarter. Great location and they keep the bathrooms and laundry room very clean. It is located adjacent to I 10 so it can be noisy. The park is fenced in with a gate. We feel safe. The park is all pavers with some grass. Lots of big rigs. They also have a hot tub and pool. We haven't tried these as it is cold but some campers are in the hot tub most evenings. You walk by a police station on the way to the quarter. Beyond the usual quarter attractions, we have done a swamp tour, a walking tour of the Garden District and today the WW II museum. Wow we were there for 6 hours today. I wish every child could visit this museum. I would hope the magnitude of what transpired is not lost. We learned a lot. Very impactful. Saturday we start toward Austin Texas. It has been cold here at night. Low 30s tonight. We will get to Austin on Sunday.

  29. I'm King Moon from Knoxville, TN. On 11/11/21 I took delivery of the last trailer produced for the 2021 model year - Hull #948 - Legacy Elite II - Twin Bed Floor Plan Delivery was great and the new camping spots right beside the factory are very convenient. The quality and attention to detail in my unit exceeded my high expectations. I ordered the trailer with the standard tops so that I could install the custom wood tops created by Foy Sperring. I ordered pretty much all of the pieces that he produces - in Black Walnut. I also ordered the Mega size for the dinette top (which is the largest of the 3 sizes he produces). I can't say enough good things about Foy, his communication with me, and his amazing wood creations. I would highly recommend working with Foy if you want to add beautiful wood products/tops to your Oliver. I have attached several pictures. I am looking forward to meeting fellow Oliver owners.

  30. Mark and I were thrilled to finally welcome 953 into the family. We spent 2 great days in Hohenwald getting to know Ollie. Super experience at the factory - only very minor issues that were fixed immediately on-site. What a great company!

  31. Enjoy the warmth. Just know we are looking for our first "plowable" snow this weekend. And it should stay around for a white Christmas. Look into staying at Kissimmee Praire Preserve State Park once. Eleven miles in, washboard dirt road, alligators and deer everywhere. What you won't see is any light pollution. Red lights at bathouse so as not to kill your night vision. No neon lights or big plastic faces. The Milky Way and stars just seem to jump off the sky. There are even more stars than you can see in New Harbor on a cold February night. Be safe out there...

  32. We finally made it to Collier Seminole State Park in Naples yesterday after a 3 night stop in Aiken SC state park to see some family. We stopped 2 nights along the way from Aiken. We liked Little Manatee River State Park just south west of Tampa. This is our second visit to Collier Seminole park. There is another Oliver here. We stopped in and introduced ourselves. A husband and wife team that are full time RVrs. Interesting they have 2 tow vehicles and 2 RVs, one Ollie and one Airstream. They were parked side by side. Our Ollie, Beacon, was filthy after driving through the snow so I finally got it to a self service carwash bay to clean it up a bit. Far from perfect but less embarrassing. Most of the parks we have stayed at prohibit washing RVs. So from 19 degrees leaving Maine to 86 here in sw Florida in 2 weeks. The trip continues. We have covered 2500 miles already. We hope to catch up with some other Oliver owners that are a few towns away in the next few days. Picked up some fresh oranges at an Orange grove and had sundowners at Stan's in Goodland today. We are likely to go back next week with the rest of our family. Happy Holidays and Happy Camping.

  33. We picked up our LE2 last Wednesday, Dec 8, and took 3 days to return home (near San Antonio, Tx). We had a great trip; weather turned out better than forecast. Really impressed with the camper thus far, and it tows great! Here is a picture an Oliver employee took. I intended to post this on delivery day, but I never could get additional photos to attach right side up (what’s the secret?). Frank

  35. I’ve experienced wet socks more than once! It’s one of those checklist items that gets left out when your setup routine is interrupted. The good news is that if it’s closed and you run water in the bathroom sink you will quickly realize what you forgot to do! Mike

  36. I bet every owner has had this happen, one time, and then you learn and it probably won’t reoccur... For me it was in the middle of the night in my socks, I discovered the isolation “travel” valve was still closed when I ran water in the bath sink and it backed up out of the floor drain and soaked my feet. Many bad words!!! Get a black Sharpie and write “Push in for travel” right beside the handle. John Davies Spokane WA

  37. Thanks. Fortunately for us the snow didn't accumulate on the highway the temps were in the high 20s to low 30s. Snow was accumulating on the sides of the roads and on the trees and grass. If it gotten much worse and started accumulating on the roads we would have pulled off and waited it out. Fortunately it was a small system heading west to east and we were going east to west so we got through it. The COE was awesome. We don't have many COE in the Northeast but we will definitely be going to more COE based on this recent experience we will certainly try these again. I have learned that if it is really cold it seems to work best if we really warm up the interior so the walls warm up before we drop the temp back down for the evening. Otherwise the walls stay too cool for my liking. If we have electric we use the vornado. If not we are good on gas. Thanks for following. More to come.

  39. Were you actually on snow covered highways that first day? I don’t have the nerves for that. I pulled “Mouse” out just last week onto the 2 inches of dry snow on our driveway to reposition it inside the RV bay and was having trouble steering. I know that some members go skiing with their trailers, I just can’t get over that…. I would be completely freaked out. Count me as one more big fan of COE campgrounds, I love them. If you ever get to WA you can spend all summer in Lake Roosevelt Corps CGs in the east side of the state. John Davies Spokane WA

  40. Thanks. The Ollie is not as clean as it looks!!! Lots of streaks toward the front. No problems getting around Atlanta left the Campground around 9. We did have some slow down areas and lots of trucks but it went smoothly. I must be the slowest vehicle on the road! Can't wait to get to Collier and Lee county. Sunday morning we head south. Going to take it slow and try to average just over 200 miles per day. We like Collier Seminole State Park as we stayed there 2 years ago. Thanks
