  1. Broken Closet/Toilet Flange Replacement So as is usually the case with whatever I touch, I break something else! Or maybe it’s just an opportunity to learn something new. While camping over the Thanksgiving holidays, we suffered a water pump switch problem in the bath vanity. I had to remove the vanity caddy while troubleshooting and there were 2 wires off of the switch mounted at the top of the caddy when I pulled it out. I doubt 2 wires fell off at the same time, so I think maybe 1 was off and caused the problem and the other fell off during caddy removal. This gave me the opportunity to start a plumbing project and install a hatch in place of the caddy as NCeagle did here. So I was sitting on the throne cleaning up the hatch caulking job and broke the closet/toilet flange while rocking around. After removing the toilet, I removed the 4 screws holding the flange in place and remembering someone else’s flange replacement, I just pulled up on it and one side moved a half inch or so. I then moved a piece of wood under that side and worked the other side and the flange pulled out. The 4" tail of the flange fits into a rubber gasket in top of the black tank. I have ordered some parts from HD that may or may not be correct one’s, but I’ll know in a week or so and post the conclusion to the story. Until then, enjoy the pictures Mossey Break flange description tank and gasket

  3. They do exist! We finally saw an Ollie LE2 this afternoon while returning home from Vancouver, WA today. This was the first Ollie we have seen since taking delivery of our LE2 last September. We were heading south on Interstate 5 about 30 miles north of Eugene, OR, and the Ollie was northbound, around 12:30 PM. Any ideas who it might have been?

  4. So excited! I paid my deposit this morning!! 🥳 Josh is going to let me know what the cost is for the upgraded air conditioner today. I also asked him if it eventually is standard and not an option would I be reimbursed. He sshe thinks it should be standard and that that was a good question. I think an air conditioner should be standard and not an option in the air conditioner should run well and be quiet. What do you all think and maybe if we get together and ask them to make it standard they will. But again I’m new here and I don’t wanna rock the Oliver.,,,, just let me know if I am and I will settle down. Just read the terms and conditions that I am supposed to sign. It doesn’t make me feel warm and cozy. Did you all sign this? 🤔

  5. Old backpacking habits die hard, and this filter is a survivor, which also turns out a wonderful cup of coffee. This GSI filter clips onto just about any cup, takes #2 or #4 filters, which allow for very little water for cleanup. I haven’t broken it in 10 plus years of heavy use(quite a feat for anything to survive my ham-fisted antics for that long). It weighs less than 1/2 ounce. I boil water and control the bloom easily… makes a great cup, every bit the equal of my Technivorm Moccamaster at home.

  7. My wife and I just picked up Hull #1014 February 7, 2022. We are still in the Tennessee area and have camped at several State Parks and now our second campground. I was having an issue with the TV. First of all it seems to operate on a big time delay between the remote (pushing a button) and the tv ( TV responding). It also has locked up on me several times. After reading the manual and searching the forums and finding no answer I went to the manual setup tab in the settings menu. From there, I took a picture of the current settings in case I messed something up. I found the problem with the failure to connect to the campground wifi. At the top of the Manual Setup tab is the DHCP. Mine was turned to off. I turned it on, went back to the settings tab and tried to connect again. It worked!! This was a 2 day struggle so I hope this helps anyone who might have the same problem.

  8. Thanks all for the advice. We stopped in Wilcox AZ at a truck wash that had decent ratings. Just wanted to get the caked on stuff off. They did a decent job and the Ollie and the truck look much better. Far from perfect but much better. I opened the basement door and found some of the stuff in the handle for the tank drain valves. Thanks again.

  9. Hi Kim, we paid our deposit about two weeks ago. I chose November 7 for our pick up date. Are they talking about going with a Truma A/C? When I talked with our sales guy he didn't know if it was a done deal. The terms and conditions are standard contract language in my view. Those things rarely make a person feel all warm and cozy. We signed ours. Welcome to the Oliver family.

  11. I’m getting some good ideas. We keep it simple, and use a compact camping percolator on the gas stove, just like the ones Road2Trails and Frank-n-Val show in their pics. We like our coffee strong and a little bitter, so that’ll do it. Don’t stray too far from stove, or risk burning the coffee, but it’s easy. Regarding Cowboy Coffee, this guy is an expert. I haven’t used his technique yet (no egg), but I want to try it soon. https://youtu.be/7UAoT21eqXI

  12. Hello’s All 🤗 985 Skigator Egg is on the traveling path ! Picked up 11 Jan 22 . Two nights at the factory, being newbies , needed some re-education on a couple of the systems before venturing out . The minor issue of a warped closet door was solved with a new replacement door . Service dept. was / is great 👍 Second week had some challenging moments. Bad tire valve stem cores led to 3 visits to tire repair facilities near a friends stop . About an hour on the road from tire fixes , pulled into a rest stop near Tifton Ga & water pump on truck blew up . Guardian angels or positive Karma was watching over us . Able to get a tow (truck & trailer) to 4th (called) repair that could get us in . A young , energetic lad ( Forrest) let me assist him in replacing the new pump ! 8 hours later , back on the road !! Combat time in the Air Force has given me the mantra “ Ten fingers , ten toes …. not a bad day !! “ Continuing to the Keys later this week, before eventually back up to home in Cambridge NY safe travels…. Cheers 🤟🎣🐟 Ed & Nancy

  13. Bill, I edited the pictures to clear things up. It is actually a closet flange with a short 3" pipe glued on and the bottom is filed down to ease insertion. Mossey

  14. I would like to add that many Land Cruiser owners add lots of heavy accessories like skid plates and racks, and install oversized tires. All these severely affect its towing ability, and wreck the fuel economy. If that term can even be applied to this series of (wonderful) trucks. How many mods have you done to yours, and what is your payload now? I found this, your original payload is actually pretty decent, it is higher than the LC200, but the tongue weight limit is really marginal for the LE2, which has about that much, on average. I hope this doesn’t sound too negative, I love mine. I just don’t think it tows the big Ollie very well. But when Armageddon arrives I will be glad to have it😬, at least until I can’t find enough gas to keep it going. John Davies Spokane WA

  15. If you live in an area of the country that is FLAT and will never tow outside that area and will never load things in the Oliver that cause it to exceed that towing limit, and never have an emergency situation and always keep EVERY SINGLE THING in the tow vehicle up to date and are one of the most careful drivers on the road and ........ All will be fine. But, you still will not have any fun. Bill

  16. Since I don't know exactly what you were asked to sign - I can't comment. However, I will assume that it is some sort of standard contract language that was written by some corporate lawyer from the viewpoint of "protecting" the corporation and not the buyer (counterparty). I do remember when it came time to sign my Oliver contract I balked at several areas to include language that said something like Oliver was not responsible for delivery delays and there was nothing in the contract about what was to happen if they could not or would not actually produce a trailer. I "demanded" financials, a clearer understanding of what happens in the event of ...... , and in general for all parts of the contract to be adjusted to more "fairly" be written so that what was good for the goose was also good for the gander. Well, basically, those demands were turned aside (stonewalled). Luckily I used to be in the investments business and was able to get financial data on the Oliver companies that most people would simply not have access to. This plus keeping copies of ALL email correspondence where I received assurances that I had nothing to worry about somewhat assuaged my nervousness. So, here I am 7 years later not regretting my purchase one bit. You are right to feel that these contracts are (usually) very one sided. But, there are at least two things on your side - 1. consumer protection laws, and, 2 - history. Bill

  17. Glad it worked out. Had a bit of trouble with our Vizio in our 2021, but Vizio Tech Support helped. It was all related to outdated software. Suggest you run the updates from Settings when connected to good WiFi.

  18. When our fifth wheel was covered in all the oil from our oil pan (another story) we took it through a Blue Beacon and they did a good job with no damage.

  19. At the end of my 2 month western trip late last summer I tried a Blue Beacon truck wash. Not bad for the price but if I do it ever again I'll only have them wash the Ollie or wash the Ollie and the tow vehicle separately. The reason for this was that the "soap" that they used dried on the tow vehicle before they got a chance to wash/rinse it off and this left a very difficult to remove film. Previously I've used those do it yourself spray washes and even though they take time and some effort I personally prefer them. Particularly if I have my own cleaning pad which I almost always carry. Good luck! Bill

  20. We have 2 set-ups -- aeropress and the little dripper. For extended trips in a single location, we'll find space for the breville barista espresso machine! mb

  21. I just went out and measured. I just layed the tape measure at a point as close as I could to the back bumper, then did the same for the hitch. More exact would have been to crawl under the trailer with the tape measure attached to either the hitch or bumper but I’m not crawling under the trailer tonight! I don’t know if Oliver has these measurements on their web page anywhere. 79” back bumper to rear axle centerline, +/- an inch or so. 168” end of hitch to front axle centerline, +/- an inch or so. 22. The closest thing I've ever had to cowboy coffee was my grandmother's coffee, in a big white enamel pot on the stove top. No basket or filter. An egg and cold water settled most of the grounds, not all. She and her brother used to turn the cup upside down after afternoon coffee, and read "fortunes." I only let my gramma read my fortune. Her brother's were always too dark... Some people call it Swedish coffee. It was well known among all the Scandinavian folks (who all kept chickens, so the egg was "free")

  23. Hi Ed and Nancy, We had 1 bad stem as well and got a pack of 4 at local auto store. Sorry to hear about your truck. Did you make it back before the storm hit? Believe it or not, it is 18 degrees here in sunny, SC by the lake ....grrrr! Was great meeting up with you at the mother ship 🙂 Btw I finally realized we had our back up camera set up to view a reverse picture, so images were displayed backwards.. probably the reason for having difficulty backing into our spot at the mother ship. At least that's the story I'm going with 🙂 John

  25. Our last night in western NC mountains before heading home to coastal South Carolina. We’ve been in the low to mid 20’s each night since pickup on the 19th. The furnace is wonderful, keeping the thermostat at 61 degrees has kept us plenty warm.

  26. One more thought... Some folks prefer to use a lighter weight extension cord between the single Honda EU2000i/EU2200i and the Ollie, and then use an adapter at the shorepower connector on the trailer end, rather than wrestling with the heavier 30A AWG 10/3 standard shorepower cord. Since the single generator only produces 15A continuous (2200 Watts or about 18.3A peak), a standard 25ft 12/3 outdoor rated extension cord (which is rated for 20A) works well. Tom
