  1. When I saw the topic, nose art, my first thought was the "art" our dog always leaves on the windows when watching for wildlife. 🙂 Originally we wanted a decal of the Old Man of the Mountain (the stone face fell from the mountain in 2003, saddening many New Hampshirites). Unfortunately when we projected it onto a photo of an Ollie it just looked like a big, scary head on the trailer. Not the look we were going for. Our daughter started drawing other ideas. At the time the old farmhouse in PEI that we summered in had a barn that swallows made their home and we liked to watch them swooping in and out of the loft windows. When she drew a swallow we had our design and name, though we always just call it the Ollie.

  2. Still have the original front logo but am planning to remove and replace with the attached. If you are thinking it looks as though it was designed by a Kindergartner, it was. One of the kids who used to ride my school bus drew it and I thought it was apt for "Lottie".

  3. We opted for the Oliver logo and matching thin swooshes on the sides. So far so good!

  4. After we came up with the super-imaginative name for our Oliver (The Trailer) we decided we’d let someone else design a logo. I asked a local artist to combine a big star (Texas you know), some compass points and the Oliver winding road, in red and gray. She did a great job and I installed it at our first campsite after pickup (Land Between the Lakes - May 2016). We had the design printed at a local print shop, they did two and I still have one when this one gets too worn.

  5. I get all the "Nose Art" I can handle when I see all of those bugs that I've got to clean off!🤣 Seriously - this is the reason I have opted to NOT have a decal on the front of Twist - it is a bit more easier removing bug guts off gel-coat versus off a decal over gel-coat. Bill

  6. 🤪 That's already me with our tiny 8' squaredrop. The length of the Oliver will be much easier to back. I hope! We'll sit out in our chairs out and hold up score boards like at a diving competition. 😀

  7. When someone ask me about them, I generally say they are just little brown dogs. Your pair look to be in confirmation condition. This is our Kendal that we lost last March at 15 and our dog is 9. Mossey

  9. We took possession of our used Oli almost 2 years ago. We like the original decals that the previous owners put on, although we would like to put a decal on that would be our own. My wife saw a cougar on the back of stick built trailer, she liked it, but it is not original nor is it “us”. Me, well I like the Fighting Oregon ducks. This is neither original, nor is it “us”. Thanks for starting this thread is giving me some ideas.

  11. Well I think you nailed it. I was so caught up in the silhouette that I forgot to even read your story below. It's fun when there's a story and a connection behind a picture. We love our borders. Most people have no idea what they are and have never seen one. Edit: don't know if it will be nose art, but the borders will be featured on Ollie-Haus somewhere.

  12. I received a return phone call from Mike Sharpe with Oliver Service today regarding our upcoming scheduled Truma retro fit. He answered all my questions and addressed any concerns I had very throughly. Based on my discussion with Mike we are moving forward with the retro fit of the Truma Aventa. Patriot🇺🇸

  13. The inspiration for my nose art was my two Border Terriers. And of course, also the fact that my wife did not wholeheartedly embrace a travel trailer as an RV of choice. She would have preferred a Class B or C if she was going to move out of the Hampton Inn. The hard part was finding a silhouette that was an accurate image of a Border Terrier and was not copyrighted. I found this one on Etsy and bought a piece of the artwork and asked for permission to use it on my caravan, as he called the Ollie. He was impressed that I had even asked for permission and was kind enough to send me a soft copy to use as I pleased. I added the script to the original and Oliver printed for me. Mossey

  14. Many new Olivers have the pristine appearance of their beautiful white gelcoat while exploring this wonderful nation. They are truly pieces of modern art to behold as they roll across the highways and byways. During WWII, it was fashionable for American bomber aircraft or fighters to be decorated with intriguing pieces of artwork (Nose Art) which provided an emotional connection for the aircrews as they "went about their business" during their wartime missions. Some of us have chosen to add a personal, meaningful touch to our Ollies as we carry out our "mission" of exploring this land and have chosen to place some sort of art, or motif on the front of our beloved Ollie which helps guide us along the nation's highway, byways, and back roads displaying a bit of our character, history, or interests to others who come across our paths. This thread is a place for us to show our frontal artwork to our Ollie family and perhaps say a few words about it. I'll go first. I'm on my second piece of art, the first one developed cracks after 12 years and 111,000 miles. My companion dog , Bosker, now graces the front of my trailer . . . eyes gazing into new horizons wondering what adventures are around the next corner. Those of you who have placed a bit of your personalty "up front" please share it with us. Tell us how it is meaningful to you . . .

  16. We will! We’re picking up on the 30th and camping one night before heading out. Looking forward to meeting you! I'll be easy to spot. I'll be the guy backing up in a zig-zag fashion running over power boxes and sewer heads.

  17. Wow...my visit to the Lakeland service center went smoothly. They completed the install in about two hours. They planned to run new thermostat wires and install their thermostat for the Dometic heater. However, they ended up modifying the Dometic box and keeping the existing Dometic thermostat. Both the Truma ac and Dometic furnace work fine. I did have to reprogram the thermostat delay time to eliminate the dreaded clicking. The Truma installer mentioned the difficulty of running new wires in a double hull trailer led to his decision to reuse the Dometic components. Maybe they don't like modifying other OEM's components and given the low number of Ollies.......just punted retrofits to Oliver. As far as water leaks, they did not water test the installation. They explained their confidence with water tightness based on installation materials. He mentioned torque sequencing of the hold down bolts was important. He partially torqued hold down bolts before applying the final torque. Going back to the beginning......Initially I corresponded with Oliver to do the installation. At the time (Nov or so), Oliver was experimenting with the installation and was having to overcome roof flatness/AC level issues. Developing a mount platform was mentioned. Rather than wait on Oliver I took advantage of the Truma installation offer....and I guess it worked out. Time will tell. Steve

  18. Hello all, We have a delivery date scheduled for our LEII in the third week in May. We obviously very excited. Our tow vehicle will be an F250 Tremor, bone stock, no cap, and several hundred pounds in the bed and 300 pounds of occupants. What drop and shank size are those of you with Tremors running. I also ask, with some trepidation, whether Tremor owners are using the Anderson Hitch or not and if you are happy with your choice. I understand the controversy over WD and sway control vs not, and really want to be careful not to stir that pot with my very first post. Thanks in advance and happy trails!

  19. Hello @Rolind and welcome to the forum. We are scheduled to pick up our LE2 in April. I too have a Ford Tremor and I asked salesman Josh White that question. He said the ball should be adjusted to approx. 24" from the ground to the top of the ball. I have the WeighSafe 6" adjustable drop hitch and with the ball adjusted to 24", the ball mount is about in the middle of the adjustment range. https://www.weigh-safe.com/product/steel-weigh-safe-drop-hitch/

  20. Even though this topic of hitch height has been covered many times before here on the Forum - your best bet is to call or email your Oliver Sales Agent and ask - "how high off the level ground should my hitch ball be?". Ford does not require you to have a WDH with the 250. And, Olivers do not sway. Bill

  21. The key to backing up a trailer is to practice and most importantly, go slow! And don’t be afraid to pull forward and start again. It is often easier to back up straight if you start out straight. And don’t worry about it, we all had to learn at some point. And before I forget, figure out how you and your partner are going to communicate. Be it hand signals, walkie talkies, cell phones or your rear view camera. Mossey

  22. Welcome to the forum. I am not a F250 Tremor owner so I’ll let those members speak up at their opportunity. I will say that I do not know for sure but we may have one member with a 3/4 ton truck that uses an Andersen WD hitch. Most of the members using an Andersen do so because they are required to by the manufacturer in order to not exceed their tongue weight limitations. It all depends on your Tow Vehicle’s limitations and each vehicle may be different. And if you haven’t heard, there will be an Oliver Travel Trailer Owners rally at Lake Guntersville State Park in Alabama May 17-21. If you are still in the area and have time to visit, please do so. The campground may or may not be full at this time, but nearby State Parks may have availability. Mossey

  24. As I mentioned in my first response, we love the doggies. What breed are you displaying on your trailer? We are connoisseurs of the Border Terrier breed and this looks very much like a Border Terrier profile to me. We may end up with a similar decal for our front end as well.

  26. I'll check but I don't remember those cover mounting screws sealed on my unit either. I removed and reinstalled the cover. The Truma installer cautioned me to NOT use a power tool on those screws. The max torque is 1.6NM and he said a power tool will easily strip the screw anchors....which becomes a difficult repair. I don't believe any of those cover mounting screws are inside the "water tight square" (shown below). Outside of the "water tight square"....rain water enters maybe and condensation drains on the roof if there is no internal drain kit. Steve

  28. This is the ball mount and ball I’m using on my F-250. I do not use the Andersen hitch. It is not required or recommended for my F-250 specs. I have used the Andersen hitch on previous tow vehicles that required it, and I’m much happier now having a truck that does not need it. A “3/4 ton” truck like an F-250 is a great match for the Elite II. Specs for my F-250 are 12,600 pounds towing, 1,250 lbs tongue weight, 3,334 lbs. payload rating, so a very nice safety margin with the Elite II. My F-250 isn’t a Tremor edition though so your specs may be different. My F-250 has a 2-1/2” receiver socket. The 3” drop ball mount puts the Oliver nice and level when towing with my truck. 29. I like easy, so here goes! I was born and raised in Florida and know enough to stay there in the winter, so that is the reason I have never had to winterize. But I do sanitize my freshwater tank and when I do drain it, I tilt the trailer to the curb side which is were the drain pipe exits the freshwater tank and I remove the outside shower head, turn the shower on and insert the hose into a piece of PVC pipe to move the water away from the trailer when I am at home. You could run it into your drain hose if your campsite has a sewer connection. And I wouldn’t have any qualms with opening the freshwater drain and driving down the road if the weather cooperates. I often dump my freshwater during the last few hours of driving home. That probably wouldn’t work in freezing weather. On the other hand it may be safer to have a 1/2 of tank of water, which would be less likely to freeze. Mossey

  30. Here's an easy one: I take delivery and finish my two nights at Camp Oliver and two nights at David Crockett State Park. Let's say it is freezing at home, and I need to winterize. I understand the process of doing that. But what about the water in the fresh water tank? Do I simply drain it there at my last camp site? That seems the logical move, but if everyone did that, especially those like my brother who have 140 gallon water tanks, it would be a muddy mess around the camp site. Then, I thought draining it while dumping the gray and fresh tanks. But from what I read, it takes a while to drain, and I don't want to hold people up. What's the proper fresh tank draining etiquette? (See how easy it is to spot the guy who's never had a trailer with plumbing before? 😀 ) Thanks!

  31. Well, we finally collect our "new to us" Oliver this month! Been searching for quite some time and found Hull #226 for sale. Having owned 2 Airstreams and a Casita we feel the Oliver has 95%+ of the features we want in a TT. We've both learned a lot lurking around the O Forums for almost 2 years now! Looking forward to meeting other Ollie owners on the road and comparing notes... Y'all travel safe! A, D, and M (woof!)

  33. Hello there! Congrats on the new Ollie. We picked ours up on 3/8, the week before you did. I am originally from NC (New Bern) and we most recently lived in Mooresville, near Lake Norman. We love the Boone area and have some friends up in West Jefferson. About two years ago we moved to western TN and love it out here. Hopefully, we will meet either at the rally or on the road somewhere. Safe Travels, Brian

  36. I have my Level Mate mounted in the rear attic compartment near the TV switch outlet. I wanted to mount it with screws per the instructions but in a hidden area. It works good there. As far as battery life...I have replaced the original battery once in almost two years. I keep the unit on during trips and off while not on a trip. It does go to sleep. Steve 2021 LE2

  37. The issues some owners are having with the Truma AC leaking is concerning. We are scheduled in May at Oliver Service for the swap out of our Dometic Penguin and install of a new Truma Aventa. Hopefully by the time our install happens these details will be corrected. We will need to be assured by Oliver Service that they have addressed any and all issues regarding the installation of the Truma Aventa. I have a call into Mike Sharpe. Followng…. Patriot🇺🇸

  38. If you don’t want to use bungee’s just swing the whale tale back and rest it on where the cables are fastened to the tongue. The weight of the chains holds it securely enough.

  39. Yes, it was expensive. But at the time, there were not other options in the market due to Fein's patent. It's saved the day countless times, and well worth the expense over the long run.

  40. I had a water leak from my Truma AC in LE II #1304. It was right after our pick-up of our new trailer. It rained hard in TN at that time. We took it back to Oliver and they waterproofed the screws of the Maxxair fan and it fixed the problem. Water was running from the Maxxair between the hulls and to the Truma and drip, drip in the trailer.

  41. One of my concerns when opting for the Truma water heater, AC and furnace package in our Hull #1291 was service. I knew that Truma will sell repair parts only to "authorized" RV service centers, including the Oliver "Mothership." Living in the Idaho mountains, I do most of my own auto and RV repair work. I figured that in the event of a failure, if I can't get Truma parts, I can just replace the entire Truma unit with, for example, a Fogatti water heater or RecPro air conditioner. But, the way Truma "whipsawed" you by withdrawing the AC install offer after you had towed your Oliver 5 hours one way, takes customer disservice to an entirely new low. Thanks for posting about this outrage. Anyone considering anything Truma, beware!

  42. Cool thread. I’m not putting a Vargas style pin-up off @DebMon the front, though. 😉 I know what mine is going to be, but I’m not sharing yet. Two nights ago I was smacked in the face with a bit of inspiration, and I can’t wait to turn it into a graphic. The name will be revealed two weeks from tomorrow, though. 😁

  44. Tom is not a fan of naming anything either, but I am calling her "Olive." Partly due to the Oliver connection of course, and partly because I am a big fan of the author Elizabeth Strout and she has two "Olive" books - "Olive Kitteridge" and "Olive, Again." As an avid reader, that sealed the deal for "Olive," for me anyway. I'm quite sure Tom has performed an eye roll or two when I use it, but so far he's been very discreet about it. 😀 Unfortunately, OTT doesn't allow customization of the back sign any longer or we would have put our hull number there. Instead, we ordered a special license plate - "EGG - 1321" and are looking forward to receiving it soon. Happy trails everyone!

  45. Yes I was confused as well at first. I was being shown available campsites. But when I tried to reserve one I got an error message to the effect about it being the wrong year.

  46. I think error C will come up in any mode if the batteries drop low enough. Also, with a 3500 watt generator it shouldn’t be necessary to change the inverter setting. Something else is going on.
