  1. I am always amazed at the small ways that people personalize their travel trailers to meet their needs. The Oliver factory has been a industry leader in meeting those needs, and people seem to really enjoy getting their coach made to their specifications.

Tell us please what options you had the factory put in your coach and how it may fill your needs.

    Example:

Butcherknife and I camp in mostly rural areas, some difficult to get to. The four inch lift axle was one option that we ordered. Our coach has never scraped bottom, yet. But as we go to more and more remote areas, who knows. The lift doesn't effect towing one little bit. I have to admit to being caught up in traffic and going much faster than prudent, even for those high freeway speeds. Upon thinking back, the decision to add the 15" 6 ply radial ST rated tires was a good one also.

In this short utube video you can get a good look at the 4" lift and the 15" tires and wheels:

  2. Welcome to the Oliver Forums ! Chuck we are glad to have you on here, your contributions will be greatly appreciated. All one has to do is a search for your screen name on Casitaclub to see what a valuable assett you were to that group. Your knowledge and advice will be well recieved.

  3. Got a simple question, maybe the kind that you wouldn't go so far as to call the factory represenative about ? But none the less, you need to know ? For example, you can find the switch that turns on all of the LED courtesy lights on, except for the one in the bathroom ? You saw it work when you were in the delivery bay at the Oliver factory, so, you know it works. But you can't find how to turn it on ?

He, he, happened to me. I had been in sensory overload, I guess, what with all the information I was absorbing in the delivery bay. I actually called in to report a light that didn't work. The guys out in the shop at the factory still pick at me about that one. They even considered a "handle" change to . . . well, let's don't go there.

The bathroom courtesy LED is plainly visible down near the floor, but the switch is inside the inset for the towel rack. Just slide your hand along the edge and it just automatically goes to and turns on the courtesy light. The light switch on our early 08' model is a push button. Here is a photo:

  4. Just placed an order for a new Oliver ? Maybe you have recieved a delivery date ? Or, maybe you are just curious as to how they are built ? Robert Partee, Sales manager at the Oliver factory in Hohenwald Tennessee has an online album of photos he is starting to put togather. It starts out with the basic materials, shows molds, laying up layers, ect, ect..

Forums member BugEyeDriver's new baby is just starting it's formation process. Here is the first photo in the album, there will be regular updates: ( link to full album is posted below )

Let's peek over the factory's shoulders as the new baby grows. Here is the album link:

  5. Show us those great photos of your Tow Vehicle and travel trailer out there on the road somewhere.

In this photo, we are parked on Housley Point, Lake Ouachita, Arkansas. Lake Ouachita is thirty four miles long, has over seven hundred miles of shoreline, and well over one hundred islands. Housley Point is on a penninsula between the North and the South Ouachita Rivers. There are no hookups, but there are picnic tables and fire rings at about fifteen campsites. There is a boat launch ramp there and nearly all of the sites are on the water. I must have been worried about the mud on the coach because that seems to be mostly what is in the photo. The campground is four and one half miles from the end of the pavement. It had rained and the road was slick in places, one red clay hill in particular.

The Road Wings caught most of the mud. It would accumilate until it slid off of the flap in large slabs. The mud on the coach managed to get past the flaps somehow.

Housley point is a beautiful campground and has little traffic from vehicles, but lots of boat traffic out on the lake. Very early in the mornings fishermen are cutting through the nearby islands enroute to fishing locations. Located on a dead end road, with the last four and one half miles gravel, makes this one of Lake Ouachita's "Hidden Gems !"

In this photo, we are looking out from the campsite towards "Hotdog & Hamburger" islands. The islands were named for their shape. Island camping is allowed.

Early in the year this campground is habited mostly by fishermen, but later in the year, as it warms up a bit, the water sports folks frequent the campground.

Butcherknife and I fish, camp, and SCUBA dive, so we are likely to be there about any time.

  6. Welcome BUGEYEDRIVER !

Pete, hope your mending process is speedy. It won't be long before it is time to go to the BLUEBONNET gathering. For those that havn't had a chance to meet BugEyeDriver, he was building a place to put his new Elite and had a mishap. Pete's baby photos are being posted at: http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii12 ... 20Trailer/

Robert is posting photos at regular intervals as BugEyeDriver's baby is being born. It's an intresting process, you will enjoy watching it grow.

  7. Butcherknife and I have been avid campers for most of our adult lives. Every time we move into a new or different camper, we are sure that it is absolutely THE camper for us. And it is , at the time. In the past we have always moved up and up, bigger and bigger. Then one day the grand kids were pretty well grown and too busy to go with us anymore. So, once again it was time for a change. This time however we took more time and made a more calculating and thoughtful look at our own personal style of camping. We wanted personal comfort, convenience and a quality coach that would last a long time.

Our search carried us to look at Molded Fiberglass Recreational Vehicles. They seemed to fill the bill of our needs. Along our search path we discovered Oliver Travel Trailers and called them. We went to the factory to visit. We bought. End of story ? NOT ! The Oliver not only fills our needs, it just naturally feels right. It fits, it just actually fits. You know, like that comfortable pair of blue jeans, the ones that you just can't bear to retire because they feel so good when you put them on !

    Here is our baby:

This photo was taken at Gander Mountain in Jackson Tennessee. On the way home from a visit to Hohenwald and the factory.

Could this be the last camper that we ever buy ? It is that well built. These things hold their value so well that we are already talking about what might be available in the way of accessories in the 2009 modles, and should we consider selling this one and moving on up when the 09's become available !

Oh, well, thats lots of campgrounds down the road, but it's a heady possibility off in the future somewhere !
