If we need to dump and we’re not at 70 or 80% I turn on the water for the black flush until it gets up to 80%. Then I pull, leaving the water running into the black tank. When it gets down to zero or 5% I close the valve and fill again. Sometimes with the water running it won’t get below 5%. Then I do it a third time. When it gets down to zero I shut the black flush water off and let the tank drain. Then I do the gray tank. I leave the valve under the dinette seat open most of the time. I have a back flow preventer on my hose and I think there might be one built in. Mike

thanks, Mike! This is very helpful.   -Angela

You don’t need the macerator for the gray tank. After filling the black tank and letting it run out the first time, I leave the water flush system running and walk away for a few minutes to let it run. When clear water comes out, I fill it up to 80%+ to 95% at the most on accident… Lol, then pull the handle and let it run clean again. Then refill it again and it should run clean from start to finish, letting you know that it’s perfectly clean. These 2 movies go together but had to be listed separately on this page,so there’s another page now… Haha Oliver ???? Reed

Thank you for this, Reed!! So very helpful!! -Angela

  3. Usually the last trip home of the season, after dumping, we put a couple pounds of ice cubes into the tank with some water. The “splash blending” going down the road really cleans the tank. By the time we are home it is mostly water. That can be dumped into a 5 gallon bucket and the poured into a cleanout or the home toilet. I like to use Eco-Save during the season, as an additive. I think it smells good and has no chemicals. It is bacterial and you only add when waste is present and it digests that. Just not easy to find everywhere…

Thanks Canoe12! Do you just put the ice down through the toilet?

We usually fill it to 80% for the extra rinses. I’m outside and Carol is inside watching the level readout. She tells me when it hits 80% and then I pull. I just leave the water running while it’s draining, then do it again. We drop in a detergent pod and a little Calgon water softener with some water after we dump. If we’re putting it away I also add some Happy Camper powder and a couple of gallons of water in both the black and gray tanks. Mike

We filled it about 20% full on our flushes (did 3). Wasn't sure how much to fill. We had only used it about a day and a half. When you are "leaving the water running while draining", are you leaving the valve under the dinette seat open too or do you mean you close the valve and let it fill back up while draining?

Also, question for anyone, we have the macerator and I was wondering if you are supposed to turn it on and then pull the black tank lever or pull first and then turn it on. I also assumed we leave the macerator going for the gray tank too.  -Angela

Not Mike, but the method that works best for me; When we go to dump, if the tanks are not “full” we add more water, the key is sufficient water for a good flush, then when you use the back flush feature I close the black tank valve and fill to approximately 3/4 then drain until it runs clear, if I feel it needs more I do it again, experiment, see what works for you. I don’t use chemicals in the tank, if you use enough water to clean it, it doesn’t smell.

    STEVEnBETTY,

Thank you for sharing your method.  I greatly appreciate all info! This is all so new to me and of everything involved, the black tank and its care is what freaks me out the most. I have this fear of "doing it wrong" ????  -Angela

  6.

Same here. We leave it connected to the trailer all the time. Dump, two refills/dumps, then the gray tank. I have a clear section to watch for the last clear flush before doing the gray.

Mike,  when you refill the black tank for your extra rinses, how full do you fill it?

Also, when you dump before storing (between trips), do you fill it with water/chemicals/magic positions?

We’ve got 1 trip under our belt and so many questions. -Angela

  7. Thanks for posting the pictures of the finished trailers. The ladybug trailer is mine and my sister’s and we will be picking it up on the 12th. Your picture is the first we have seen of the finished product! Makes us that much for excited for Thursday’s pick up day.

Yay!! Glad I could give you a smile :)  Would love to know more about the ladybug......

  8. Merriweather was great both times we were there.....If we had heard banjo music we would have picked up the pace. If only we had checked the paper map, there was a 4 lane highway just another mile down the road. But we did see some sights, and it was an adventure we still laugh at..

Lol! the banjo comment made me spit out my drink! ????

we saw the turn off to Merriweather, but unfortunately had to leave before we could investigate. I imagine we will be out that way again and will definitely check it out!

  9. I have found places to stay one or two days away by looking at a map. I have seen some wonderful sunsets (and spectacular sunrises)from a hidden cove found by a chart. None of these were obvious electronically. Natchez Trace CG, isn’t that where we had the Rally? The electrical pedestal didn’t have a 30 amp outlet? I have never packed a 30/50 adapter. How much of an issue is that elsewhere? I know at the Rally most sites were real small and on top of each other. Most needed extension cords and extra hoses. We just had to assume the new management had not got to update that part yet. We really liked the Merriweather Lewis Park, but there are no hookups. But that is why we have the OTT anyway. (Price is right too…free).

I was told that it was where the rally was held previously.

Reportedly, these lake sites are relatively new.  I thought it weird that there wasn’t a 30 amp outlet. The box had a 50 amp outlet and two 120 outlets.  Oliver had provided a 30-120 adaptor which we used the first night. We had some trouble with our water heater that first night and thought maybe that was the reason so I went to the Trading Post on the campground and they had a 30-50 adaptor so I went ahead and bout it  ($25 - not sure what they normally run but feeling like we were in a pinch I didn’t flinch). Turns out it had nothing to do with the water heater, just needed a hard reset. We used the 30-50 adaptor the second night. The fridge seemed to take a REALLY long time to cool down the first night. Don’t know if the 120 had anything to do with that.

We noticed that the other areas seemed a bit congested which was why we opted for the Lakeside.  So glad we did.

Definitely learned our lesson about electronics. Felt stupid because we never used to go anywhere without a paper roadmap. Guess we got caught up in all the excitement as it totally slipped my mind.

  10. Google maps has a download feature that is helpful, but doesn’t give voice instructions. I used it extensively in Iceland and the Faroes this year. Maps.me is free, and really quite good for offline use. At least in Australia… I used it in Canada, and the Faroes, too. It tracks your location with gps, whether you have cell signal or not. Sherry

    Will look into these. Thanks!

  11.

There are a number of nav apps that don’t require cell service, but I always recommend a stand alone unit, Garmin is my favorite brand, I think this is way better than most factory nav systems: https://www.amazon.com/Garmin-RV-660LMT-6-Inch-Navigator/dp/B00YY3UBV2 Free quarterly map and Point of Interest updates and it won’t ever freeze up on you! thanks for the recommendation. Will definitely look into it. We always used to travel with a paper map book and then we had a small Garmin when those came out before the advent of cell phones. Just got too comfortable with phone technology ☺️ -Angela

  12. Hull #268 looks great ???? Did Oliver set the brake controller for you?

No. My husband set it. He’s used them many times before. Only had to use it briefly on one of the back roads in TN after missing our turn when I lost cell service and google maps locked up! Before our next trip, we will make sure we have an old school paper map as a backup! -Angela

  13. Congratulations!!! Very nice looking Oliver and I like your cushion fabric!! I think we were at the factory having warranty work done when you all picked up!! Happy travels!!!

thanks! How funny! We  WERE there with you in the lobby. I recognize you from your profile pic. We had just gotten back from lunch and were getting ready to hook up to go to the campsite. ☺️  Hope you’re back up and running smoothly! -Angela

  14. Looks great. Which floor is that? Goes really well with the charcoal.

Thanks! Not sure the official name. I call it the “new gray flooring”. It replaced whatever the gray floor was they were using. When we got our sample box there was no gray floor sample. Anita said they had just gotten it and hadn’t had any samples cut yet but that it was really pretty. We went with it aight unseen on her recommendation and are glad we did. I looked on our invoice and all it says is “special floor”, but it is one of the regular flooring choices because there was no extra charge.

we finally have our trailer! Thanks to Phil and Ritchie for getting us up and going and to the additional factory workers who jumped in to help tweak a couple of things as we were leaving. We had a family emergency arise requiring us to leave earlier and more expeditiously than expected, but Ritchie and his guys were great!  Thank you!

We ended up staying at the Natchez Trace RV campground.  Highly recommend this place!  There are about 8 spots that face the lake on the front side of the grounds.  We set up there and it was great.  We stayed 2 nights. Very peaceful and a great view.  Full hook ups. You’ll need a 30 to 50 amp coverter for power.  We opted for full hookups as this was our first RV experience. Not as scary as I was anticipating. Even the tank dumping was easy!

Now will be the fun part of getting things put in their proper places and customized.  Oh, and I am so pleased about how our cushions turned out. We opted for our own fabric choice (Sunbrella fabric) and feel it was totally worth it!

    We are THRILLED!!!

  16. For our first visit when we placed our order (Oct 2015) we stayed at Natchez Hills B&B. It’s associated with the Natchez Hills Winery. It was a log cabin in the middle of the woods about a quarter mile from the owners house. There is also a small house that you can rent at Amber Falls Winery. Here’s the only picture I have of our cabin at Natchez Hills. We really enjoyed the rustic ambiance. Mike 2oja71d7im7aj2cxwokd82wgqcx7fz67.jpg.73e3ee7926d1a1a4f1897690c8c02156.jpg

Thanks, Mike! Love places like that.  We decided to stay in a conventional hotel in franklin since it’s onky about an hour away and we don’t have to be there until 10 am. We can still check out the winery though :)  Pick up is tomorrow! So surreal!  -Angela

  17. Anyone traveling through Oklahoma Sunday morning about 11 am? We are on our way toward Hoenwald to pick up our trailer and just saw an Ollie heading west. Didn’t get a good look other than big red lettering on the back. Hi!!!!  -Angela
