  1. I was told the other day by Oliver that the 1 1/4 receiver hitch that you can buy (mounted) on the Oliver will cost $600.00 as an up grade. Could a person not buy the receiver hitch themselves and have it welded or clamped on at a lot cheaper then $600 smackers? On Walmart.com (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Swagman-RV-Bumper-Adapter-For-4-4-5-Steel-Bumper-Fits-2-Receiver-Hitch-RV-Approved/50402950), a receiver hitch goes for $40? Then slide your Thule or Kuat Sherpa into the receiver.

  2. For approximately 8 years, I worked a bicycle tour that started in St. George and after approximately 280 miles we would finish back in St. George. The bicycle tour always went the first week of June. The campground we used in St. George was Temple View Resort.  It has a great bath house and laundry with really great WiFi. It is quiet and within walking distance of restaurants, banks and bicycle paths. In Zion National Park, we stayed near the entrance in a campground called Zion Canyon Campground. It is in a town called Springdale. Busy place! Reservations definitely are needed during the summer. It is right outside the Zion NP Gate. Bicycling or shuttle from campground to park is easy. Too busy for my taste. In the Bryce Canyon area, we would camp at Ruby's Inn Campground and RV Park. Great laundry, bath house and WiFi. Swimming pool was very extremely nice. It is located right outside NP Entrance. About 25 miles away from Bryce is a town called Panguitch. It has a KOA that has been under new ownership for approximately 8 years. They have really made this KOA nice. There is a National Forest Sevice area called Dixie National Forest near Panguitch. We would often stay at Panguitch Lake North or South Campground. Beautiful area.  We tried to stay at the KOA in Cedar City, Utah a few times. However, they were not bicycle friendly. Therefore, we would stay at a small campground called Red Ledge Campground in Kanarraville, Utah. It was nice with a very friendly owner.Temps during first week of June was always hot in St. George but gradually turned cooler as we headed to higher elevation.

  3. So, with some nervousness, I purchased a LTZ 2500HD Duramax  2018 for $58,035 this afternoon. I was very pleasantly surprised on the 50 mile drive home getting 23.5 mpg.  Still undecided about extended warranty. I have always been advised that it is a waste of money. I have until tomorrow morning to decide. I have never thought about this type of warranted. The engine and transmission comes with a 100,000 mile as it is. Price of warranty is $2450. Also, a positive is the truck fits in the garage. I was worried a bit about the garage door opener being a tad low.

  4. Dwain,

I just purchased mine last week and selected the upgrades. I had absolutely no buyers remorse the next morning which is unusual for me. I hope I can answer your question for a long time with an absolute "no regret". Do your due diligence and you will be confident in your decision. Welcome! Darryl

  5. Foy and Mirna,

I was at Oliver this morning when Phillip opened your package of samples. They loved them and my wife loved them even more. She made me take the cutting board out to the Elite II so she could see how it looked. She loved it! She said that we needed to get one. If you have a cancellation send me a message. We get our Oliver Elite II in December. Great work, they are beautiful.

  6. The verdict is...... I went with the 6 gallon water heater. It was a tough decision. I got to Hohenwald  early this morning and met with Heather.  I went with the standard hot water heater.  Upgrades that were made were upholstery, Micro-Easy start, Sat/TV Antenna, Trojan AGM, Countertops, 30 lb propane and quick connects, Solar, Inverter, Back Up Camera. I called Southern Mattress before I went in to Oliver. Will be getting mattress(s) for twin beds from them. They were great.

Only thing I am second guessing myself is getting Propane Quick Disconnect for $299 and not the 30 amp convenience connection. Your input is appreciated on this matter. I cook with a Cobb Charcoal Grill at home.

I sincerely appreciate all the input from this forum. I am a complete rookie on this RV stuff. It is nice to be associated with this group. I even met Top Gun this morning. His input was invaluable.  Trailer goes in production on September 18 and delivery in December. Thanks to all!

  7. Old thread but soon to be new owner! Yesterday, I called Heather and placed an order for an Elite II. I paid the 15% down and my wife and I will travel to Hohenwald tomorrow morning to go over upgrades. This will be our 3rd trip. Production will start on 28 September and pickup will be 10 December. One upgrade that I have not made up my mind on is the Truma Tankless Water Heater. I have research it for far too many hours and am still undecided. I emailed Heather and have requested how many warranty transaction's have taken place on the tankless compared to the tank. As of this hour, I have not received a reply. The reason for my hesitation on the tankless is because of a recent conversations with a plumber and a real estate agent. They both said that around the 6 or 7 year mark on home systems, major problems exist with the tankless heater in many homes. They recommended not to get. Now, I understand that there is probably a big difference between a home installed system and a RV installed system. It could be that home system are not properly maintain and the decalcification tablets used in RV (truma) Systems make a difference. I do not come from a mechanical background. However, I do understand the tank system. Has anyone had a warranty claim with either system? Additionally, does anyone regret the system they purchased? Thanks in advance!

  8. A diesel truck? Your research is solid. I have stayed away from them because I have heard horrible stories about injectors going bad early. Also, I hear stories about $100 oil changes. Yet, they still intrigue me. I don't mind oil changes but injectors.... With that said, since I have never bought a vehicle and sold it until it had 200K miles, I should look and drive the diesels. Thanks for the solid info. Sometimes this research becomes not so fun!

  9. The Chevy 2500HD, 4WD that I drove rode a little hard on the interstate as well but it is a truck. It was a double cab with more then enough room for our 2 Cairn Terriers. It did not necessarily scream buy me, buy me at this time. I hope that prices will decline a tad when the 2019's start to roll in. I really should take a look at other manufacturers

  10. I will always have 4WD on a truck. I wish I had 4 WD on my tractor. It is a shame that I am leery of other brands. I like Toyota a whole bunch but have never fell in love with the Tundra. Now if the Tundra looked like the Tacoma and was a 3/4, my new Toyota Truck would already be in the driveway.

  11. Tow Vehicle Advice:  I am going to order a LE II in October. I have done my due diligence and believe that this is the best built RV around. I have made 2 trips to the factory and soon will make the purchase. Today, I went to look at tow vehicles. I am a GMC/Chevrolet person. I have owned a couple of Chevy Trucks. The one I currently own is a year 2000 that has 210,000 miles on it and it has treated me well for 18 years. Today, I drove a Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Truck Double Cab. It has the towing package, a 4.10 Gear Rear Axle, 6.0 Gas Engine. It can tow 14,200 lbs, capable tongue weight 1500 lb. Price out the door is $42,275. This price was written up within 10 minutes after the test drive. I did not negotiate because I told them I was going to buy in September or October. I am sure that there is still some room on the price going a bit lower with patience.

I believe that this truck is more than capable of doing what I need it to do with an Olive LE II. It also gives me a lot of flexibility in the future. This forum has always been very helpful to me and many others. My question is..... Does anyone see a reason that this truck could not be fully capable of towing  an Oliver for many years. Thanks and additionally, I enjoy reading this forum every day!

  12. I appreciate the input that I received on my question on concerning WDH. It caused me to do some additional research on GMC 2500 trucks.  It appears that they have a system called Stabilitrak with Trailer Sway Control. I Again, thanks very much on the input! It is appreciated!

  13. Hi,

I am very interested in buying an Oliver. I have made 2 trips to Hohenwald conducting research on the Oliver Elite II. If I buy one, my tow vehicle (TV) will be either a Tundra or a 2500 Chevrolet or GMC Truck.  My concern is the Anderson Weight Distribution Hitch that some use. My research tells me that some people use a WDH and some do not depending on their TV. I like the idea of using one but am not overly excited about the Anderson. If one uses an Anderson, there seem to be difficulty in alignment issues when hooking up with some people. After watching countless videos, I could see where this could be a problem early on until experience kicks in. My question is can another Weight Distribution Hitch besides an Anderson be used ? Such as an Equal-i-Zer? Your comments are appreciated and will help in my decision process.
