  1. Our Oliver being our first and last travel trailer I cannot comment on service from other RV dealers. I have heard from some on here and have friends that have SOB and hear their stories. I understand that Oliver's decision to move all their service (except for major repairs) to the new dealer network has made people very nervous about their new experience. I can do some of the normal DIY stuff but I get nervous when working with the electrical items yet. I am getting a new inverter in a couple weeks. Oliver offered to walk me thru installing it myself but I did not feel confident so off to the factory we go, about 10 hours for me. I do plan to pick their brains a bunch around the inverter and use.

My opinion only - I think it would be good for all of us if Oliver went forward with the idea of training service at the new dealer network. Gives us options when we are on the road and need some service.  I also think many here would feel better if Oliver continued to offer service at the factory. It could be a limited amount of appointments instead of their current service model if resources are an issue.

After reading threads here for over four years I can see where Oliver has heard from Owners and have made changes/upgrades over the years. I believe that same will hold true in this instance. I think owners will post about their good experiences and not so good experiences and then we as owners can make more informed choices pertaining to where to get service. I am sure Oliver will be monitoring this as it moves forward and take necessary steps to correct and improve these experiences.

We would like the choice to go to the factory for service if possible. I get to see the new toys they are offering in person, I get a reason to go try out some Tennessee State Parks and make a mini vacation out of it. All that on top of the quality of service I have received at the factory.

I don't think I am going to consider throwing away our investment and retirement plans just yet.

  2. Congrats and Welcome from Hull 1182!!

We took our IPAD and recorded the delivery for reference because I am lucky to remember last week let alone all the information we went over. Still refer back to it from time to time.

You also have the wonderful folks on here who can answer just about any questions or problems that might come up.

    Safe Travels

  3. I will join the others with my response for some warranty work.

First after we picked up our Oliver we spent the couple days at Oliver then we had plans to head south to explore some areas we had not been to yet.  On our way back home we came back past Oliver and stopped, no appt, they had someone come out and take a look and fix a couple small items we found - been a couple weeks.

Second - I submitted a ticket on some other issues I suspected this fall, got an email, ticket was updated and did actually get a call next day to discuss the issues. Walked me thru some diagnostics  and determined problem, they scheduled appointment for spring to get warranty work completed and schedule yearly maintenance while they had it.

Cudo's to those folks, they truly help distinguish Oliver from other Brands/Companies.

  4. The pandemic drove a lot of new folks to camping and the industry benefitted tremendously and all companies/dealers saw a great increase in sales from that. I know I had to wait almost 9 months on my Oliver Hull 1182. I have seen the wait times talked about from order to pickup on here decrease suggesting that demand has also fallen off some. Once I understood the dealers and service center roles in this I became very comfortable. I see Oliver removing a lot of obstacles that may be keeping potential buyers from pulling the trigger.  The ability to touch and feel a new model close to you and also the ability for service closer to you.

I also think that it will help with marketing and getting the word out about Oliver. We initially visited local dealers, went to the big RV show in Hersey and looked at everything they had there. I saw where Oliver took a couple models to Hersey this year to display and talk with folks. I also have seen where Oliver has taken trailers to many of these types events and others to make sure people are aware of Oliver Travel Trailers.

In the beginning we were looking at airstreams and I was on their forums as well as others trying to learn what I could when I found Oliver. I visited this site, read these forums, joined and learned a lot over a couple year period. I have seen others on here talk about similar experiences leading to them purchasing their Oliver and I am not sure that is the best marketing model for Oliver to have.

After a couple years of reading, learning, trying to decide what would work best for us we decided on a whim to go visit Oliver and take the factory tour - about 8-9 hrs drive for us, we scheduled a tour. We had a morning tour and showed up at the office a few minutes early and we saw the new models on the showroom floor. We were invited to go take a look and we did. We feel in love that morning. We took the tour and it only re-enforced what we knew we wanted to do. When we got back I tried my best to have Oliver let me hook up and go but no luck, lol. Best I could get from them that day was a production date so we settled for that, lol.

I see all this as a good sign that Oliver sees a bright future and are still willing to invest in that future. Think about what our reaction would be to news coming to us about Oliver getting out  of the travel trailer business. As an owner who hopes to enjoy "Discovery" for many years I have no issues with Oliver and what they are doing with this current business model. We have nothing but good things to say about our Oliver and interactions with the wonderful people that work there. We have really enjoyed our experiences camping and meeting some of you - hope to meet more soon.

    Stay Safe

  5. I agree on the analysis paralysis part of these types of things. I could have still been on here asking questions about Oliver and wondering when the "right time" to buy one would be. In our case, Life is about change and discovery. We decided to just go do it and we didn't look back.

All your concerns are legitimate but do you have to have it perfect before you begin? You can start with your VW and if along the way you decide it doesn't work for you then they do sell trucks everyday. You travel plans are also adjustable since you are in charge. You may have planned to go explore Colorado for example but decided to explore Alaska instead.

We have several large trips planned in the future. I don't expect all them to go as planned but some of the fun we have experienced in our short time is making those adjustments and doing things more spontaneously.

All this to say,  you can sit and research this for years or you can start your next chapter and understand life is full of surprises that sometimes require adjustments. Enjoy and Discover all the wonderful places and people you will encounter.

  6. Hello,

We were in your position a couple years ago. Never owned a travel trailer, we wanted to travel the country and Discover all the various places. We landed on the Oliver after looking at several other types and manufacturers. We are very happy with our purchase of Hull 1182 a 2022 model.

My suggestion on what I would do differently is "Don't wait". We were going to wait until closer to retirement but then just pulled the trigger and have not looked back. We went to the Rally this year and met several really great folks. We are planning some longer trips we want to take with lots of great input from the forum.  Right now we take shorter trips to some state parks in Ohio/West Virginia and enjoy getting away and learning more about our Oliver.

    We are up here too.
had to go to Whitehorse for some repairs. Depending on how things go we either adjust routes or head home. We will know more in a couple of days. IMG_1843.thumb.jpeg.9d17296bdea95a6123f08cb69616b3eb.jpegIMG_4560.thumb.jpeg.cfd8114a30badbf7c701d53e0e513d83.jpeg
