    MAX Burner,

This will be my first time to drill on my Ollie...did you have your drill in reverse during the drilling or does it make a difference?

    Thanks,

    John

  2. Thanks MAX Burner,

I think I follow you.  I see where you have dremeled out the receiver.  I think I'll give this project a try.  Question for the community...can I leave the Oliver factory fan setup as installed and just find a power source to connect the new fans.  And then just set a temp on the Beech remote control that is slightly less than the value that turns the Oliver fan on so that maybe the Beech fans will keep the Oliver fan from ever coming on?  I'd really like to avoid any rewiring of the original setup..an electrician I AM NOT!

    Thanks for all the help,

    John

@ThomB87, the fans are installed in the top vent.  When they are running the movement of ward air from the upper vent is noticeable.  There is very little fan noise.  As @Ray Kimsey describes, only a 12VDC and a ground connection are required to run the fans.  Attached to the fans is what looks like another wire, but is a temperature sensor.  This is run down behind the refrigerator.

A small remote control panel is also attached to the fans with 5 or 6 feet of wire.  I ran wires for the remote control up behind the  main control panel near the entry door.  There is an access hole behind the control panel, with a round cover.  This is inside the forward most storage compartment above the refrigerator and microwave oven.

I did not like having to remove the lower panel to access the fan controls.  Also, the fan control has a bright blue LED which is visible outside the trailer if located behind the lower panel.  Access from inside the trailer requires only opening the storage compartment and removing the round cover.  This location also contains the annoying blue light on the remote control, which cannot be turned OFF.

    Hi dhaig,

We are hull 996, also 2022 elite2.  It appears there is not enough room to mount this fan on the upper vent.  The space above the condenser coil has a slanted roof that interferes with the upper mounting of the fans.  Yours must be the same design.  How did you get yours in that space?  From what I can see in your pictures it appears the 2 top mounting screws/tabs are just screwed into the upper slanted panel.  Is that correct?  I can get the fan assy into the space behind where the screen mounts to the frame but I need the bottom of the fans up off the fins and tubing as it gets pretty hot there at times.  Is it possible to post a picture of the lower section to see the mounting of those lower screws?  I wonder if that slanted piece of fiberglass/plastic can be modified to give me a little more room in that area.  After looking at your picture a little closer, yours might not be slanted like mine is.

    Thanks,20240313_194307.thumb.jpg.75f8e766647957caa3be19fc79675c0e.jpg

If you don't have one already, you now have an excuse to build a shop...so you'll have a place to mount that new bench vice.

Now that would be a challenge for us!  :classic_wink:  Tailgates don't count lol.

If I possessed your physical attributes I would have those 30 pounders as well :)  And you read our minds concerning the Big Texan!  But not the 72 oz.  Sadly we are unable to make the rally since Oliver service (annual maintenance) was booked up and we have our revisit with CGI mid April.  We have a plan for northern Maine and the Havelina Rally in Texas with Ohio golfing in between.  So the month between CGI and the Oliver rally is no longer time we can spare.

You and Kathy have a blast out there :classic_biggrin:

  6. We've had issues with mopeka and pro smart so I went back to my fail safe plan :)  We have 2 x 20lb bottles and open only 1 at a time.  If the open 1 runs out, we switch over to the other and go fill the empty.  We have a pretty good idea if we need to fill before we run out.  Cold weather usually depletes ours in 1 week and if we don't run the furnace we get about 3 weeks. If we cooked every meal in the trailer I'm sure we wouldn't get close to 3 weeks.  2 to 3 meals, and coffee most mornings, a week is about all we do inside. If anywhere close to those times we usually stop, when convenient, and top off.  We ran out this morning :)BTW and knew right away in Tucumcari, switched over and all was fine.  We were stuck in those 48-63 mph winds for 3 days so I couldn't follow my "gettin' close" plan.  Now that we're in 25 degree temps again we'll refill on the way to Amarillo today.  Don't get me wrong...if 1 bottle gets depleted, we fill it asap.  I'm not trusting my plan with 1 bottle empty.  I tried the sensor route and am not spending any more money on them.  Works for me so far.  BTW...full timers for 4+ years and lovin' it :)  If I was part-timin' I wouldn't have a clue as my time line would be tossed out the window.

Steve and Tali have always reached out to others and made them immediately welcome to the Oliver family.

We met them just this afternoon and they indeed made us feel very welcome.  We showed up this year before the "big show" is over with hopes of becoming a little more knowledgeable with our solar setup by hanging out with the solar experts/vendors.  But after talking for a while with Steve, I think I got lucky concerning all things solar .

  8. Welcome Scott and Connie!

Wen and I are AF retirees as well and have been fulltiming 4 years now (2 in a Casita).  Our Ollie (twin beds) seems like a mansion with the extra 6 feet inside vs the Casita.  We picked ours up 2 years and 1week ago and have not looked back.  This Oliver community is quite amazing and we are very thankful to be part of it.  We'll be at the "Q" in a couple of days to reunite with good friends.  I know you will be pleased with your new Oliver.  No trailer, as you well know, comes problem free but I can tell you that this Oliver community is quite amazing and experienced with handling just about anything.  Congrats on your retirement :)

I didn’t know Gerard had a Florida branch or that it was closed down.  The Fiamma company makes several different RV accessories including the awning on our 2017 LE2.  The included link has information detailing a 2017 workplace shooting at their factory in Orlando, FL.

You are absolutely right Mossey, I don't know how that last sentence in my last post popped into my head.....a very senior moment :classic_blush:

  10. Ollietime,

Just for clarification, my problem was on the fwd end (hitch end) of the awning.  The rear appeared to be ok throughout the process.  If your issue is on the rear end my suggestion may not  work for you, I never removed the rear cap so I don't know if there is an adjustment there as well.  You should be able to contact Girard if need be.  I know their branch in Florida was closed down after their terrible tragedy a couple years ago.

I am experiencing the same issue with my awning. I have gone through the instructions, but I am having trouble with step 4, which instructs me to locate the motor. However, I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Nothing on my awning looks like the picture of the motor shown in the manual.  Will someone give me a hint, please?  I have a 2022 LE2.

    4. Extend the awning a few feet to gain access to the motor. Locate the motor. The limit adjustment screws are located on the head of the motor. Using the symbols printed next to the adjustment screws, turn the black key (or 4mm Allen wrench) to make the necessary adjustments. The motors are labeled with a + or a – to indicate the adjustment direction.

    Hi Ollietime,

My 2022 Hull 996 has the Girard as well.  It has a fwd end cap and an aft end cap.  I took off only the fwd end cap, you'll see 2 ss screws on the end cap.  I don't remember if there are any on top of the end cap.  With the end cap removed I found the adjustment screw and rotated it half way in one direction, which made the problem worse.  So I went back to the original position and rotated the screw half turn in the other direction and it was good to go.  You may need more or less of an adjustment to get yours adjusted to your satisfaction.  One word of caution...adjust in small increments as the motor must shut off automatically and you don't want the motor to continue running when the awning is fully retracted as you can burn up the motor.  As I recall, I contacted Girard and they walked me through it.  Best of luck :)
