Does the solar controller on the 200 watt panels allow for different batteries?  Mine does not - therefore I can not change anything on my solar controller.

If yours does allow changes then I'd set it to whatever you have in your Ollie.  The Jackery has a lithium battery which (as I understand it) can be charged at AGM setting but the lithium will simply either not fully charge and/or it will not be charging at the optimum rate(s).

I don't know, Bill.  I've not decided on the panels yet.  Originally I was trying to take advantage of Amazon's price breaks today but have decided to not make any rash decisions, as I want to make the best possible decision with this.  My OMMO solar battery will not complete its charge as I think it has its own controller internally and when charging it I've been using Renogy's controller also and I think that's what's preventing a full charge.....but then again, I really don't have a clue.  I think 2 controllers are creating the problem with completing the charge.

  2. We have 320 watts of panels on top of our E2 and have the Zamp external port on the side of the trailer.  Does the Zamp charge controller, inside the trailer, control the external plug?  Currently I have a portable Renogy 100w suitcase panel going through its own pwm controller that is mounted on the suitcase.   Then I go through the external port, using a reversing plug (because of Zamp's design) to augment the Zamp panels on top of the trailer.  It has been helping by reducing the charging time and I'm able to easily aim it at the sun.  I'm interested in replacing the suitcase with a 200w flexible setup with an nppt controller, that's much lighter and more helpful.  I'm guessing the Zamp port on the trailer is a direct shot to the battery, uncontrolled, and the Renogy pwm controller is doing what it's supposed to do.  Can I just put a 200w panel in the place of the Renogy, go through the reversing adapter (if necessary), set up the new panel's controller for my 440ah AGM 6 volt batteries and ... that's it?

    Thanks for any help,

Couple more thoughts on this discussion. Several years ago while traveling to a photo shoot in SW Montana I had a blow out on my right front tire but was able to pull over safely and change the tire on the spot. Upon arriving at the next town stopped off at the local tire store and as it turns out on the trip over I had taken on a sharp rock that created a slow leak in the tire which as you all might guess built up some serious heat enough to cause the blow out. I suspect this is what might have happened to the OP in this thread.

Fast forward to a couple of summers ago while camping up in the Seeley-Swan Lake area I noticed one morning what appeared to be a deflated right rear tire. Immediately went into Seeley Lake township for repairs at the local tire store. Turns out we were the third customer to come in with slow leaks that morning. Ours was the result of a nail but the mechanic had a jar full of culprits that had caused past customers the same issues. Looking at some of the culprits for flat tires  was educational for sure with many of them being quite large such as bolts some bent others straight, various hardware pieces and so forth and so on. Items one would not normally think to be able to puncture a tire but there they were.

Anyway glad the OP was able to correct this without undue harm to life and possessions. Blow outs can be scary stuff.

Could very well have been as you described.  Now, with the TST, I'll be able to see low pressure as it happens and the increase in temp.

    Thanks,

    John

I have the separate TST monitor but don’t look at it much after we’re under way.  If something is wrong it will alarm, otherwise I pretty much ignore it.

    Mike,

Just installed the TST system, except for the booster.  I noticed the monitor is always on, is that normal.  I figured the on/off switch would turn off the screen, but it doesn't when plugged in and charging.  All seems to be operating normally otherwise.  Hope this all works as advertised :)

    TIA,

John/Wendy - so happy to hear you are both ok brother!  Seems like little damage as well. I see everyone is assisting with their TPMS solutions and I would like to share something a little different that we have used many times on the road to help others. Thankfully, we have not had to use it on our own trailer(s).

Anderson levelers makes a "Rapid Jack" and you essentially just roll up on it with your good tire and change your bad tire. Saves all the blocks and jacks that most of us are familiar with.

    Thanks, Brian,

I appreciate the well wishes :)

I assume from your post that other than the wheel rim there was no damage to the Oliver - wheel well, tire fairing, brake lines, brake wires, etc.?

If that be the case then consider yourself to be very fortunate.  Certainly there is a margin of safety in have two axles versus only one.  And, a big thanks to that driver who alerted you to the problem.

When purchasing my 2023 F-150 I too considered getting Ford's trailer TPMS.  But even though it would be nice not to have yet  of these screens in the cockpit of the truck, the price was much higher than simply getting a stand alone TPMS.  Also, I've found that having the stand alone TPMS I tend to monitor it more often.  There are numerous brands on the market that do a great job of monitoring both pressure and temperature for the trailer and the spare tires on the truck and Oliver.  I simply went to YouTube and Amazon, looked at features, size, reviews and price to get the one I liked best.

    Glad that you are OK.

Just a few rubber marks on the outside of the fender, and yes to "very fortunate" :)

johnwen what brand/style tires are on your Oliver? For example my older 2017 hull 208 came with Michelin LT tires.

  8. We've been at altitude with cool temperatures for the past 3 months between Montana and Colorado.  2022 Oliver with 27000 miles on it and the original tires.  We had a blowout on the aft driver's side.  I travel at 61 or 62 mph but have very seldom approached 70 mph when descending on the back side of a mountain. I'm only posting this because I did not realize we had a blowout until I heeded a following motorist's flashing headlights, signaling me to pull over.  He probably followed me for 5 or so miles and I thought he just wanted to know more about the trailer.  We inspected what we could view from the side view mirrors and could not see anything wrong or out of place.  I could only see the front tire with my standard sized Silverado side view mirror.  We finally pulled over when we came to a place where the road became wider.  We did not notice any odd noises, vibrations, or any visual clues that anything was wrong.  Our normal 60-62 psi was indicated that morning via our ProSmart, smart tire pressure sensors with our smart phone app.  We have no way of checking pressure while we're driving as the bluetooth range is very limited.  So, lesson for me.....I will install internal pressure/temp sensors that can be read through Chevrolet's "driver information center".  Again, I had no idea anything was wrong until someone notified me to pull over.  The aluminum wheel was also damaged beyond repair and while I found the correct sized tire, Discount Tire had to install it on, what appears to be, a trailer rim.

Four of the nicest , polite hard working young men you will ever meet.  And, they do a good job of polishing and ceramic coating your Ollie - either at their shop in Murphreesboro, TN (just east of Nashville) or at your home.

The ceramic coating not only makes the Oliver shine better than new but it makes cleaning the Ollie much easier too.  I'm DONE with that twice a year wax job!

    Bill

I definitely agree with you Bill!  We had ours done 15 months ago and will have our follow-up sometime early next year. The CGI team is top notch in my book and I'd recommend them to anyone.  It's soooo nice not having to wax :)

Managed to bend the handle on a tight turn, but it still worked...though the pin seemed really snug.

Same thing happened to mine, Ralph.  I put the original back into service.  It really helps to shape the end of the pin, a little, on a grinding wheel....makes it MUCH easier to get the pin started into the hole :)

It will be interesting to see the implementation of their plan.  For me, it’s not going to change anything.  I will continue going to my local family owned RV repair shop.  He’s been working on my trailer since early 2017 and also does several other Olivers.  A good RV repair guy can effectively work on Olivers even if they aren’t Oliver Factory Trained.  Mike

Being on the road 11 months out of the year is a challenge for us concerning service.  If I can fix it on the road with help from a phone call to OTT or help from this forum, I fix what I can and save the big projects for OTT when we go in for our annual checkup.  I think it's worked out great so far and , yes, it would be nice to be able to stop into a place we're near to see a qualified Oliver technician.  We're out of warranty anyway but I'd much prefer a tech that has Oliver experience to do the work.

  12. My 2 cents..... if I were to buy a new Oliver from a dealership other than OTT, I would expect that dealership to service what they sold me.  And I would wait in line behind all the other brands they sold to get my problems fixed.  The specially trained Oliver technicians there would eventually move on and be replaced by technicians trained by who?  I've heard of quite a few problems, with OTT's current production line, putting out trailers that need fixing right away.  Problems that could have been resolved had there been better quality control in production.  If those trailers made it to a sales lot other than Oliver's and I had to experience frustrating wait lines to have something fixed that should never have left Oliver production, I think that would ruin Oliver's reputation pretty quickly.  I can only report my initial problems, toilet flange cracked, kitchen sink faucet hose wrapped around plumbing preventing it from extending more than a couple of inches, airflow around my refrigerator that allowed air into the cabin with any exterior exhausts, propane, smoke, and whatever drifted in on the wind, caulk everywhere on the roof (no leaks but lots of caulk left by a sloppy installer), a window screen that fell off the window the first time down the road because the attachment screws were stripped out and the metal clips needed spacers to extend the clips into the tracks, inside belly band (chrome strip) coming loose, 1 kitchen drawer installed incorrectly (crooked, would not lock in and needed adjustment).  And the mess with fiberglass dust and extra parts all throughout the space between the shells...sheese Louise.  These are all production problems that OTT service had to fix.  And I am so thankful to Jason and his team for taking care of me right away.  I don't think I would be so happy had I waited 6 weeks to get scheduled at another rv dealership swamped with other brand trailers.  I've heard of many other problems from other owners concerning OTT production but I only mention my own issues.  Don't get me wrong, we LOVE out trailer and are so happy to have it but my satisfaction comes from a unique trailer backed by Jason's stellar service team.  I really don't think another business would provide me with what I have in OTT's service and phone support.

  13. Hi, JRK

I'm not sure how the Elite1 is constructed but on my Elite2 my outside shower hose will wrap around the stabilizer strut and when it does my hose only comes out part way.  So maybe that's what is happening to you.  I put a couple strips of duct tape on the strut and frame under the bed access panel to prevent the hose from popping up and wrapping around the strut.  It is a little too short anyway, I agree.  Sorry to hear of all your issues.

    Best of luck,

    John

  14. 5.3 with 3.42 on a 2019 LTZ 2wd that we got new in 2020 with 22 miles on it.  We did extend the warranty to 100,000 and are looking to extend past that.  Over 90,000 miles at the moment and are in Glacier NP now.  No problems in the mountains and have been through Wolf Creek pass at 10,800 feet.  Of course 40 mph up and 30 mph down in 3rd and 2nd gear, 3500-3800 rpm.  Next truck will probably be a 3/4 ton as we are at 6800 lbs on the truck and 6800 lbs on the trailer (full timers).  Andersen wdh and added air bags for us.

    Best of luck,

    John
