My plan to is to splice the Starlink cord and re-purpose one of those TV/Sat inlet and install RJ45 inlet there, reroute the cable up into the attic and keep the router there.

That was my plan initially until I got lazy. I'm guessing you've seen this but here it is anyway! https://gist.github.com/darconeous/8c7899c4d2f849b881d6c43be55066ee Let us know how it goes, even if you get lazy :classic_biggrin:

The cat5e cable fits nicely between the rear gasket of the trunk should you decide to change course. You can still lock it.

Was that a joke do you suppose? Maybe this explains why the wire color codes do not match industry standards….  A company that builds RVs has no critical diagrams anywhere in the premises? If it is actually true, my opinion of OTC just dropped a great big notch. How are they supposed to provide customer support?

I suspect they asked for help with their lithium design and have about 3 different configurations based on some trial and error. I know my Lithionics setup is different from the LifeBlue setup. Both of those options were available for a bit due to supply shortages. Still, you'd think they would have wanted that stuff documented for the future. I was pretty bummed to find out but it is what it is. They also ramped up production quite a bit during that time. Still, no excuse.

On a more positive note, we've had no issues with the trailer other than a busted window shade bracket and the silver trim losing adhesion in the rear. I can live with that.

  3. After over a year of waiting, I canceled my initial Starlink order and went with the RV option. It shipped out the next day. The RV package has a clause for throttling if there is congestion but it works 1000x better than moving my cell phone around in the sky for 20 minutes to check the weather.

Has anyone come up with an ingenius Starlink dishy mount yet for the Oliver since we have no ladder to attach it to? You can obviously just set it on the ground or a table but we'd like the option of having it up higher when needed. Considering ordering a flagpole wheel stand and securing it under the front jack but thought I'd ask the brain trust first.

I'd avoid mounting it. The ground allows for better flexibility if your line of site from the camper is bad. The ground mount gives you a 75ft radius around your camper to work around trees and other obstructions.

  5. I was looking for a simple way to use my rear storage compartment (the one that opens from the outside) to keep my Starlink router out of the elements / simplify setup and teardown. Running a new AC outlet from the main panel to the trunk is a straight shot but I wanted to review the electrical diagram before potentially ruining something. I contacted support for an electrical diagram and they still don't have one. They mentioned a third party was responsible for the design and this former employee/contractor is unable to provide it to them. They made it sound like Oliver doesn't even have an internal diagram. They did say ones coming off the line today will come with a diagram.

For anyone that wants AC in the trunk and has a Xantrex XC inverter installed, I found this part: Xantrex 808-9817 which allows a GFCI outlet to be installed in the back of the unit. It was a nightmare to install but it works after you get the tiny screws back in... It ground faults without the screws and it seems to cut power to the outlet if the panel isn't flush with the unit (safety switch?). The installation requires the removal of the entire inverter or laying on your stomach and reaching deep under the seat to do a blind one handed installation. I opted for the blind install.

    Amazon link to part: https://smile.amazon.com/Xantrex-Freedom-808-9817-Electrical-Equipment/dp/B0756FZFZJ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=LV42YTTEUUIQ&keywords=gfci+outlet+xantrex&qid=1654812380&sprefix=gfci+outlet+xantrex%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-1

  6. Unlike some of their other heaters, Caframo seems to be rebranding a generic heater for the one you mentioned. I just wanted to let you know because I've already gone down the space heater rabbit hole 😁

So can anyone recommend a quiet, portable generator, not too heavy that can run the Oliver ac without adding a soft start.

If the 2200 (1800 watt) generators won't start the AC, I'd strongly encourage you to consider having someone else install the EasyStart before buying a larger generator. They get pretty unwieldy after 1800 watts. The EasyStart is a very simple install for an RV shop and the part is way less than the cost of a larger generator.

    They're in remarkably good shape

    Your cushions look great!

We're really happy we opted for the Ultrafabric. I was initially worried about the overall quality of the cushions in addition to the material itself but I'm happy to report that the fabric is great, the stitching is great, YKK zippers were used, and the foam is surprisingly comfortable. Your comments made me pull the trigger so I owe you one! Actually, I'll owe you one every time someone spills anything on the seats! 😁

It is helpful to add an “annotation” text description in those cases.

Agreed. I plan on doing a full review at some point with more detail and descriptions. I loved seeing photos like this when I was considering a purchase so I just wanted to dump them in an unorganized fashion for the time being.

Does installing the black dump valve angled across the middle of the ONLY decent storage area in the front of the trailer make any sense at all?

Yeah, I was bummed when I saw this too. I'd be curious to know if all of the new ones are like this and why.

And WTH? This is just sad

The person wielding the caulk gun should probably have their privileges revoked. It is a train wreck in almost every out of sight location. At least stuff like that can easily be resolved in the future. 😁

  10. We had the air bags installed today. I didn't specify dual vs single path (before the installation, I didn't even know it was an option). It seems to be a hot topic like most things automotive but the mechanic went for the single path option. I can see advantages to both setups and the dual path is obviously ideal for unbalanced loads. The install was $263 from a mechanic we've worked with for a number of years.

Thanks to everyone giving advice in this thread and especially @John E Davies. We're extremely grateful!

P.S. Don't let my optimism prevent anyone from ripping on the single path setup. I'm happy to hear everyone's thoughts about it :classic_biggrin:

  11. Here are some cup holders that are more rigid/durable than a lot of the others on the market. The divider is Velcro and can be removed for use as a storage bucket. 4 can be placed above the sink with a 5-6 inches remaining on one side. The price is all over the place but $26 is the lowest I've seen for the large pictured below.

  12. Our was obviously cleaned but there was still quite a bit of dust in various places. We had ours delivered so who knows what shook out post cleaning during the 400 mile trip. They should really tape over the AV/DVD player during construction; the HDMI port, USB, and audio jack were caked in white powder. I can't imagine cleaning these for a living so I can seriously sympathize with any missed areas. White on white is hard to clean!

First thought is that the trailers are being delivered much cleaner than they used to be, which is great to see.

We're happy with it and haven't found any major issues. I plan to do a full review after we complete a few trips.

I'm glad to see that they're using lever nut style connectors now

I was surprised to see that too.

I hate that they're still using gorilla tape to hold down wiring.

Some of it has already pulled off. Taping over fiberglass dust doesn't work very well. 🤪

I still see *sharp* screw ends poking inside the hull near wiring

Every unnecessary hole and screw through the fiberglass is hard to swallow (I'm picky). The vent for the furnace seems crazy so I assume some regulation is forcing them to do it that way.

The new batteries are pretty cool.

I'm really happy with them so far. The bluetooth app is better than most. Lithionics is also the new supplier for Xantrex's lifepo4 battery line.

It looks like they're doing a good job with the new insulation, cutting it tightly around obstacles and taping the seams.

Yeah, it is pretty uniform other than to the right of the attachment point in the closet (photo below). I'm not sure if this is normal or was an oversight. I believe that is an exterior wall but it is really hard to see anything other than some exposed fiberglass.

  14. Thanks, John! That setup looks much better than the direction I started going down: ARB pump off the battery - cool but not ideal for simply filling bags when towing. Fewer parts, fewer problems. Hopefully my local shop will perform the install. I'll find out tomorrow.

Do you modify your oil at all during tow season or stick to the cap?
