Thanks . . . . This is similar to what came with our 2021 Elite II (provided by Oliver) but I found the cushions still moved around quite a bit.  I then tried the exact same matting as you mention and it is still not satisfactory.

Do you have fabric upholstery or did you upgrade to Ultrafabric?  I can see where this matting might secure the standard fabric cushions, as they are heavily textured.  But with the slick Ultrafabric, we find the non-skid matting is not an ideal solution.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

after i punched submit/reply, Maggie reminded me that we have reg. fabric.  her comment was, "it may not work as well on ultra-fabric"

So no, this may not work for you. 😬

Here are gas adapters I bought to use high pressure off the tank with a stove that has its own regulator.

I went this route just because I have a number of older stoves, cookers, heaters, etc.

It works very well so far.

    Steve,

i have been looking for that adapter. would you please reply with a link as to where you found it?

or a name of the (brick & mortar) store you purchased it from.

    Thanks,  Bryan

We have Ultrafabric cushions in our Elite II.  We chose this option because our previous RV (Leisure Travel Van) had Ultraleather which we found comfortable and easy care.  The seats in our van had wood bases. The seat cushions and seat base were fitted with automotive strength velcro to prevent the cushions from slipping.

I find the cushions in our Oliver annoying in that they refuse to stay in place, while seated, despite the nonskid mat Oliver includes; not sure if this is also a problem with the fabric upholstered cushions.  The back cushions tend to slide around too, but not as much; the LTV van back cushions had tabs with snaps (like the back cushions for the Oliver rear dinette) that attached to a snap on the wall.

My question is: has anyone used heavy duty automotive velcro to secure the dinette seat cushions to the base hatch?  I hesitate because doing so would render them non-reversable (probably not a big deal).  Also, if the velcro was to be removed would it damage the Ultrafabric?

I welcome any other solutions to the problem of slipping cushions.  Thanks!

    Susan,  we use the following

      https://www.amazon.com/DAZZ-8714388-Taupe-Classic-Shelf/dp/B01LWASQEE/ref=asc_df_B01LWASQEE/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216569127040&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15415255600688357079&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9021082&hvtargid=pla-361000286526&psc=1

    i believe we got the 18" x 5' roll.

or as Nancy K. said -  "We just use a rubber webbed mat similar to shelf liner."

I used Mike's magnet-and-Command-Strip method, but found that I could put one magnet on the door and the other one inside the compartment under the seat. This has two advantages as far as I can tell:

    It eliminates adding another protuberance.

It weakens the magnetic pull, making it easy to pull the door back and not put any strain on the door. (These magnets are pretty powerful.) I think that someone mentioned having to put something over the magnets to weaken the pull. Putting one magnet inside the compartment accomplishes the same thing.

    Spike,

did you use the same magnets that Mike & Carol used?

if not, which magnets did you buy???

    1. have not made any MOD's to SNYSDUP.  i am still absorbing all that i am reading about mods on the forum...
    2. were hooked to 120A, probably charging from solar.
    3. had been hooked up in the driveway for a week with no issues, whilst, cleaning and restocking while in-between outings.
    4. Because of the temps (yes it gets hot in ND), i added water to the Black, and disconnected power and went to the City Park and dumped and flushed.
    5. returned, and re-hooked to shore power, in the driveway.  it was a bright sunny day, so we were probably again charging from solar.
    6. later while outside and inside SNYSDUP, Maggie noticed a rotten egg smell, and looked for something we (or Travel KAT) might have left around inside, from our last outing.
    7. when i returned home, i began to sniff around and determined that it was coming from outside, not inside.
    8. checked the black hose to see if it was leaking, it was not.
    9. sniffing around, i determined that it was coming from the Batt Compartment.
    10. unlocked it, and felt the batts.  the s/s front batt was so hot, it was uncomfortable to touch.  the s/s rear was hot, but not as hot as the front.  Both c/s batts seemed normal.
    11. disconnected the shore power.
    12. began to disconnect the cables, making sure not to touch cable ends to anything whilst removing batteries.  NOTE -  (1) MARK BATTS BEFORE AS THEY SIT IN THE COMPARTMENT.  (2) TAKE PICS BEFORE OF THE CABELING AS IT IS.  (3) if time allows...before disconnecting cables, use "Clap-on to measure line voltage".  it may or not be meaningful/useful.
    13. the ZAMP appeared to show it was directing energy to the cables in the batt compartment.
    14. covered the solar panels with a heavy packing blanket, to reduce/eliminate any energy coming from the panels.
    15. Tape (black electricians) all the individual connectors coming into the batt compartment,
    16. turned off the 4 breakers under the dinette,
    17. taken multiple voltage reading of the Batts, (2) in the 12's, (2) in the 13's.
    18. there were codes appearing on the ZAMP and an alarm.  some are obvious, i.e. 601 - Batt disconnected.  i just check now (6/2) and ZAMP is dark.

i opened a ticked which was read by OTT Cust Service Monday, that day i was asked what type of BATTS (AGM) and the voltage readings after removal, i responded.

    So my questions to the forum are;

    1. has anyone experienced this before,
    2. what was the cause,
    3. what was the resolution,
    4. any additional issues with other components/sub-systems like the ZAMP

Kindest Regards to all this "Camping Season"..., i await the collective knowledge/experiences of the forum.

  5. Actually the Garmin 890 GPS has the "Ultimate Campgrounds" aka "UG" built in to it, so it shows them to you.

along with Forsquare, National Parks, and a few others. it appears as though you can download additional apps to be available thru the G890, however i have not done that yet.

  6. What are your thoughts???

This has been on my mind ever since we picked up SNYSDUP, probably should have been thinking of other things, but that is how I am wired (or weird).

I ran across this article from 2015, so some of you may have seen it, and like me thought of it until someone with more common sense, reminds you of reality.  There are a couple of additional articles on this, one even shows interactively how the route was optimized, which is cool.

How to Really Drive Across the U.S. Hitting Major Landmarks : Discovery News (archive.org)

    and

Computing the optimal road trip across the U.S. | Dr. Randal S. Olson (randalolson.com)

I personally think this would be cool to attempt, with the "Oliver Twist" being routing by “staying in 1 or more CG's that we are interested in per state, not just driving through the state/area non-stop, this is not a race, we are not in our 20's any more.

The toughest part would to not be stalled/stuck (Donner Pass comes to mind) when winter weather sets in as you travel in some states.  I am thinking it would take about a year to allow for inclement weather, and to stay those locations you have chosen in each state.

Because of the algorithm used to determine routing, you could start in your home state and about 52 weeks later be back home.

Someone snap be back into reality, and tell me one of you have already done this...

  7. so it appears that the book of preference (by some) is;

Camping with the Corps of Engineers (7th Ed): The Complete Guide to Campgrounds Owned and Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: Hinkle, S.L.: 9780937877500: Amazon.com: Books  (pub. 2007)

my only angst with this book is; i see was published in 2007, so how current is it?  how many CoE campgrounds have been created or closed since then, and have they added or removed hookup / amenity options?  i see newer (2018) books by others, so are they just updates or rewrites of the same.  the cost of the book is running about $50, because it is no longer in print, and is scarce  (the law of supply & demand), but WTH, we bought an Ollie, so i will buy this book, if it is the best reference.

    just a FYI,

i did score a free CD https://corpslakes.erdc.dren.mil/visitors/booklet/Whole.pdf which can also be found on the www.CorpsLakes.us - Corps Lakes Gateway (dren.mil) website, in the Office at Great Salt Plains State Park, Jet OK.  the reason i pulled it, was because of our limited cell/INet coverage in some of our boon-docking campsites, while trying to plan for locations on our route ahead.  we look at the CD on the PC in SNY SD UP, find the future sites we are interested in.  then when we have cell/INet, we start making our reservations for our CoE locations.

now at home (suffering from Post-Camping Depression), we are looking at that CD's link on the CoE website, as we begin planning our next outing.

Regards to all this Great Camping Season.

  8. Forum Members,

there are a number of titles (w/slight variations) of books addressing the above topic.  (if this has been discussed before, please let me know what to search for, for hits, as i found none)

authors are;   Roundabout Publications, Don & Joyce Wright, Spurgeon L. Hinkle to name a few.

is there one that rises above the others.  how about the same for State & National Parks.  are any of these books worth it, or do you use the INet for research for up to date camping locations.

i am of course reading all the contributions on the current thread > Oliver Camping  Campgrounds & Parks

we just finished our 2nd outing of, 6 weeks, 6622 mi, 13 (mid-west & southern) states, 1-3 nights in each, at State, City, CoE & Harvest Host sites.  we have already started to look at the next outing.

    Regards, Bryan & Maggie

  9. SteveCr, thanks, i will look into that.

we have (4) AGM BATTS and the 340 Watt Solar Package.

we are power misers, AC & Heat when attached to Shore 30a.  Blankets & overhead fan are cheaper and easier quieter.  do not use many lights on, old habits are hard to shake.

right now i am beginning to think this may something to do with Batts rather than Solar/ZAMP or a combo of both.  i have not opened a ticket yet, but may, depending upon answers to questions i have.  i just do not know yet.  Even though the (2) breakers under s/s bed next to pantry did not appear to be tripped.

Before the trip/reset after a good sunny solar day, Batt Icon would show 1/2-1/4, since i tripped/reset them, things have improved, Batt Icon showed 3/4 yesterday afternoon. We were able to make it thru last night without having the Xantrex alarm/red lights go off and shutdown, or have the refrig get error codes L or C, and shutdown.  Batts were at 1/4 this morning (0630-0700) when ZAMP woke up and started its magic.  Batts showed 3/4  this afternoon.  so we will see what tonight & tomorrow morning brings.

    Regards Bryan,

  10. pulled out the ladder and re-examined the connection boxes under the solar panels.  Boxes & Cables .et.al seemed to be connected (not loose) securely & properly.

i am beginning to think i may have battery issues, rather than solar, as the Solar (charging) Lights lights show that it appear to be working.

i forgot to check for current coming in from solar, so i will (as in learn) do that.

  11. Update - i checked the (3) yellow inline fuses, and all were there, and all appeared to be in working condition.

i am adding pic's, as that always helps

when system started up this morning, the 1/4 batt icon was lit.  by the time i took pic (1) shows light config, and at 1/2.

i shut down Xantrex before i tripped  breakers 6 & 7 before checking on fuses.  after i reset breakers 6 & 7, i happened to notice that (3) 3/4 Batt icon was lit, this has not happened for over a week.  the breakers appeared to be in working (levers were not sticking out) condition.  when i tripped & reset, it looked the same as before i tripped.

Question - 8 Batt Icon.  if i am understanding the manual, i should be able to check the status of each battery.  we only ever see BT1.  we have AGM's, does that make a diff?  how about the way they are connected in the Batt Box?

TexasGuy - i have a ladder and will check that area

  12. NCeagle - i will have a look see on the fuses and get back to the forum.  i am assuming i should trip the breaker under S/S bed next to pantry before looking/opening up "yellow" inline fuse holders.  as manual says, they should be placed as close to BATT as possible, so i will be looking in that general area.

we are (4) AGM & 340 Watt Solar Package.  i am assuming we are a ZS-30A, because we are under the 510 watt threshold, with a 340w solar panel.

Basic question - (1) will batts recharge when connected to 30a. shore power.  (i saw IL_Travelers comments) i have read lifeline batt section in opt. feat. man., but did not see/may have missed it.  this trip, we have alternated boondocking and having a 30a shore power connection.  with each boondocking, batt life is less, and basically short-lived before shutting down.

i will be out checking the fuse situation.

  13. We Too appear to be fighting a Solar/ZAMP issue not recharging Batteries, even though we have had sunny days.  ZAMP appears to be working, based upon lights and examples in manual.  On is Red, Charging is Blue, 1/4 & 1/2 are yellow.  never gets beyond that.  this has been going on for 3 days now.  what saved us (masked the issue) was that we had shore power between Solar only power...  at this time, we are essentially running on Solar only, no shore line. Well OKAY, it is dark 2200hrs , so no solar, so on Batt's/DC...

After loss of Solar Rays, the Batt's run down, then Refrig no longer works, even on Propane.  lack of sufficient battery power, shuts down Xantrex.

i have been reading Zamp/Xantrex docs in Manuals.  and have checked all connections.  i will pull out Voltage Meter/Circuit tester tomorrow, and try to figure out how that works to provide additional information.  this may be a lack of understanding on my part; however, i am not getting error codes. except on the refrig.

I did reset breaker underneath Street-side bed by pantry this morning once we had sun.  that seemed to get the Xantrex up and ZAMP indicated it was charging.  Zamp never seems to charge beyond 1/4-1/2 charge.  now it is dark, and Xantrex is getting red light, and shutting down.

Currently we are on the Road (stopped in McKinney TX) on Memorial Weekend...

going to bed, will deal with it tomorrow, a new day, and hopefully the sun will be shining.

    Bryan (Scrambled...)

  14. GAP - we have also noticed this fan scraping noise.  we did not notice it last year on our pick-up return trip from TN to ND, which may be a factor.  it is very apparent when the AC turns off, and 6-8-10 "tick-tick-tick" noises before stopping (sounds more like a 3-4 blade propeller, not the squirrel type cages as in JD's provided diagram) prior to that, the rubbing however is masked by the "SLIGHTLY (ha-ha) NOTICEABLE" noise of the thrust of the AC.

i will read-up on it, and figure how to remove internal covering.  i do not think it is insects/birds related, but we will see, when i get the cover off.

Bryan "Scrambled..." Maggie "SNY SD UP"

  15. To all who commented; THANK  YOU.  i thought i was pretty straight when i unhooked.  will do as suggested, starting with least aggressive.  We leave a really nice HH (New Berlin, IL)  site in the morning.  we will share more later.  then onto KY for a couple of days, then LGSP.  looking fwd to placing names with faces.

Maggie (SNYSDUP) & Bryan (Scrambled...) .

  16. I believe i have seen this addressed before; however search does not reveal key words.  So if someone knows when where it was addressed, that would be fine.

We have been on the road, on our way down to LGSP, to meet up with all of you.

Along the way, I have made some rather elementary 3-point turn arounds, when I did not listen/understand the Navigator… but nothing really tight like 90° Truck vs. Ollie…

When hitching up at our last stop, I noticed that the Andersen triangle plate holes were not aligning with the hole at the bottom of the ball hitch.

I have attached a pic, to show.  Note the hitch is in the receiver upside-down  to better show my issue.  You can see how much it has turned.  It may have even turned more since I first discovered my issue.

I am able to hitch up, but only if I come in at an angle.

I have not made any adjustments to the ball hitch itself, and will not, until I know that is the proper way to correct.  And I have not taken a “breaker-bar” inserted it into the pin hole and tried to turn it back to center.

After you stop R-O-F-L’g, please let me know how to correct.

  17. SNYSDUP is heading out today, meandering its way down to Lake Guntersville & the NOT-Rally.

We look forward to meeting all who will be there.

We are starting out with the "Willis" (cat), let the adventure begin...

I added to the kitchen storage with this little item from Aldi. (Bought it last year, on discount. About $12.)

It came with four small cutting boards, but I  put two away for future use, leaving me more room for hard to corral kitchen tools. It only takes up a few inches of the little tabletop, but holds all my knives, and all my tools. Fairly heavy, with nice nonskid feet. I'll shove it in the closet or a bin for travel.

It's like gaining an entire drawer, for me, and made room in the odd drawer for my new little wok pan.

Do you stow it whilst under tow?

  19. For those companies, which have a good reputation for "Service", I believe asking YOU to cut the power cord is their way of making sure you do not use it again.

Returning power cord & info on model/SN, and sending you a replacement unit is a lot cheaper than the alternative.

It also gives them a good rep with owners/new customers/forums like this.  Words; Get around.
