About six miles from Maastricht, in the Netherlands, lie buried 8,301 American soldiers who died in "Operation Market Garden" in the battles to liberate Holland in the fall/winter of 1944.
Every one of the men buried in the cemetery, as well as those in the Canadian and British military cemeteries, has been adopted by a Dutch family who mind the grave, decorate it, and keep alive the memory of the soldier they have adopted. It is even the custom to keep a portrait of "their" soldier in a place of honor in their home.
Annually, on "Liberation Day," memorial services are held for "the men who died to liberate Holland." The day concludes with a concert. The final piece is always "Il Silenzio," a memorial piece commissioned by the Dutch and first played in 1965 on the 20th anniversary of Holland's liberation. It has been the concluding piece of the memorial concert ever since.
This year, the soloist was a 13-year-old Dutch girl, Melissa Venema, backed by André Rieu and his orchestra ( the Royal Orchestra of the Netherlands ).

This is just fun to listen to and, from what I've read, incredibly difficult to play on guitar. Watching anything Charlie Brown related as a kid brings back fond memories of my childhood.

You might not love classical music or classical guitar but I think you have to appreciate this kid's talent. I happen to love classical music. The acoustics are surprisingly good in his bathroom 🙂

Ended up using the hex screw to adjust the retraction stop point and pull it in a bit tighter. I just adjusted the screw a little at a time and listened to the motor to be sure I wasn't overworking it. The gap is gone now.
This is exactly what mine looked like. I was reluctant, at first, to adjust the set screw because both the front and rear of the awning properly retracted and tucked up and in nicely where they're supposed to go. Early this morning I figured I'd try making very small adjustments to the in travel screw and listen to see if the motor was working harder and longer than I thought it should. Like you, I made a couple of small adjustments and it's considerably better now. The awning fabric is no longer visible from the top. There is still a small curve outwards in the center but I can live with it until Spring time when I can get it completely adjusted and corrected. It's getting cold where I am so I needed to remove my batteries which I did after I made the adjustment to the awning.

I think my issue has to do with the arm "stops" and where they are positioned. My mounting brackets are straight as I checked that first. The outer edge of the awning has allen screws that determine the in/out travel of the awning arms. That is what I think needs to be adjusted but I'm waiting on a response from Oliver service before I do anything.
I called Girard and they weren't helpful at all. They just sent me the manual which I already had. I called again and spoke to someone else in Girard service who said he would send instructions on how to correct the issue but he never did this.
Hopefully Mike in service can walk me through how to make the necessary adjustments.

Looking at the picture from bottom to top, that first big gap only exists in the center. The awning is properly tucked in on both ends so there is no gap.

Our 2021 Elite II has the Girard upgraded awning and my issue is that it doesn't close completely in the center of the awning. Both ends fully retract but there is a "belly" in the center of the awning and it juts out about an inch. I have checked to make sure there is nothing preventing it from closing in the center. No acorns or anything else. I can very gently push it in to confirm nothing is impeding it.
I am reluctant to touch the adjustment screws that control travel in and out because both the front and rear of the awning retract all the way in. The issue is only in the center. Has anyone else had this issue and, if so, how did you address it? I have a opened a service ticket but wanted to try the forum as well.
I'll figure out how to rotate the image so that it's right side up....someday.

Not looking to confuse things here but I called Lithionics about proper winter storage and, based on where I live (central Maine), it was suggested to me to remove my 3 batteries and store them inside which I did last year and plan to do again this year. I don't love removing them mostly because I don't like messing with the installer's work (Oliver installer) and getting the wiring to look exactly the same as it did from the factory when I reinstall them is impossible. That said, I had no issues this past year when I reinstalled them. As soon as I take the bolts out of the battery I immediately put a tie wrap (zip tie) through the wire terminal openings to keep everything "together" and the terminals in the same order from top to bottom.
We can have many months of brutally cold temps where I live especially at night so removing them makes me feel better. I don't have shore power at my house but even if I did, I'd still remove the batteries. I have the heating pad with the red switch that others have mentioned. For what it's worth, I also don't like having anything "on" when my trailer is stored for the season. My storage period can be 5 months long.

I don't see them either. I see just a bunch of garbled text. I'm on my home laptop with a pretty stable WiFi connection. I've tried both Chrome and Firefox for browsers. Will try another browser perhaps.

Just did this mod a few days ago. I had bought the EZ gutter material but hadn't had time to do the install. My wife and I were camping about 1.5 hours from our home recently and I left my window open and got soaked during a heavy shower in the middle of the night.
Needed to get a few things done at our home and returned to it leaving the camper at the campground. Referenced this thread and I cut all of the gutter material to length based on JD's "9.5" up from the belt-line" guidance and, probably most importantly, warmed the material before installing it. Obviously, I spent a lot of time cleaning the surface with alcohol too. I would never attempt to install these on any kind of a curve without heating them up a bit. On the low setting, as JD mentioned.
Warming the material activates the adhesive and really made it less difficult to make the turn around the corners of the windows. As another mentioned, having it extend further down just creates that much better of a bond. I used a plastic tool to really push the gutter on while it was still warm. And I was lucky to have a warm day to do the install. No painter's tape was needed. They're on there and good.
As the instructions state, make sure to clean the surface really well but I think it's equally important to warm the gutter material too before installing it.

Would like to hear from owners that have purchased portable refrigerators that they use while camping. We hope to go on some extended trips next year and I'd like to be able to have a little more food kept consistently cold than will fit in our trailer refrigerator.
I've done a little reading on them and the price range is pretty broad. I'd like to spend $1k or less, if possible, and get something decent. I already have a well made and very large cooler but I also feel like I've spent a fortune on ice keeping the contents cold while traveling. And if we're far away from places that sell ice, I'm out of luck.

John - you can re-list yours 🙂. Just sold our Dometic for $700 to a nice couple from Vermont. We agreed to meet in the middle and met them in New Hampshire. Super smooth transaction. Within 45 minutes of putting it on Craigslist I had interest. First person that emailed me bought it.
Feel really fortunate. One less thing to trip on in the garage!-

Frank, you may want to search the forum for one of NCEagle's mods. He replaced his shampoo holder with either the same thing you're considering or something very close to it. I think he was really happy to gain easy access to the plumbing and, cosmetically, it came out really nice.
In terms of losing holders, we have had good luck with Tooletries products. No adhesive needed and they stick really well to the fiberglass. They even have a product called "The Frank"! Good luck!

I looked on our 2020 delivery day component info sheet the for the model number for our identical Dometic Penguin. This is what Oliver has listed on our sheet. I did not see any other model info anywhere in the manuals.

Now that I've installed a Houghton AC to replace the Dometic, I need to sell the Dometic but I cannot find the Dometic model number. I have looked in the owner's manual and Oliver University but cannot find the actual model number. For anyone that has a 2021 Elite 2 and you know the Dometic AC model number, would you please share it with me either by responding to this thread or PM'ing me. Thanks.

We just replaced our Dometic today with the Houghton 3400 and we are very pleased with it. Exponentially quieter than the Dometic and the install, according to the tech that did it, was very straightforward. I have not used a generator for shore power yet but I have run the AC off of the (Lithionics) batteries and did so with no issue.
It was suggested to me to do the install without the micro air easy start so I did not have it installed. I'll report back if I run into any issues but, as mentioned, it ran just fine today from battery power. Tomorrow I will run it with my generator to see how that goes and also check it for water leaks by simulating some rain.
I just need to get the screw covers to fill the holes. I also did not need the thick roof kit.
Ric Brady, I will post if I run into any cycling issues you have had. I just came in from running it for 25 minutes and there was no excessively cycling. Dropped the temp in the trailer from 83 degrees to 69 degrees in a reasonable amount of time.
I need to thank all of the people that installed this same AC brand on their Olivers and subsequently posted a ton of helpful info into this thread about their installation.

Well, can't say I'm super impressed with our Diamondback truck cover. The first downpour we had I looked in my truck bed and saw two very fast drips coming in. Later I took a hose to the cover and found that water leaked in at all four corners where the two lids attach to the center panel. With flooding water from the hose they weren't drips, they were streams. Online searching told me this wasn't an isolated problem, either. In the end, it comes down to poor engineering and sloppy manufacturing.
The design relies on various pieces of weatherstripping coming together at an angle when the lids are closed. On ours, the weatherstripping was cut too short at the factory. The water coming off the cover would sit on top of the truck bed rails and drain in through the gaps. 😤
From what I read online, replacing the weatherstripping - and attaching it at the exact right points - is a bear of a project. After a few days of messing around with some extra bits of weatherstripping I've got it down to only a drip under flooding water from the hose now. I think that's the best I'll ever get. Pretty disappointing for such an expensive piece of gear.
On the positive side, the cover meets its other tasks well: locked security for the bed and cargo carrying capacity on top, so I guess it's OK. Diamondback SE score:
Water resistance: 7
Security: 9
Cargo carrying: 10
Definitely recommend reaching out to Diamondback to let them know of your issues. They are known for their exemplary customer service. I would be very surprised if they didn't try to make things right for you.

To sort of close the loop on this thread I started...Oliver has shipped me a new radio. Haven't received it yet but fingers crossed it works as it should. Even after a hard shut down - as John Davies recently commented on which is holding the power button for like 5 seconds - my "old" radio would still come on randomly. And it was not an alarm that I or ScubaRx set that was causing it to come on...A mystery for sure. I tried multiple resets and it still would also not load a movie when we actually wanted the unit on.
Separately but somewhat related, Oliver shipped me a new bathroom light and a long piece of bulb weather seal for the lower section of the doghouse. Pretty happy with that level of service. They shipped things quickly and without me needing to negotiate to get them to replace the defective items.

Some beautiful music from Wynton Marsalis. I don't care for his jazz nor do I like jazz in general but his classical pieces are incredibly beautiful. I'm especially fond of Baroque music both from Wynton and from Yo Yo Ma.
