  1. One of the major reasons we bought the Oliver was knowing when it was time to sell, we could do it in a more personal way here. This is a terrible decision by Oliver Travel Trailers and I hope they will reconsider.
  2. Has anyone tried this MaxxHaul 1-1/4" - 2" Class II Hitch Adapter Model No. 70032? Thinking of getting one of them along with one of their MaxxHaul Aluminum Compact Cargo Carriers. Thoughts?
  3. I respect the opinions here and acknowledge there are valid reasons this is not a 100% safe idea. My feeling was that several things were in place that made it OK: Y-valve that is only open to the flush when I open that particular faucet output that always has positive water pressure flowing out of it San-T-Flush has a check valve Black like I attached has a check valve Regardless, you folks have given enough reasons that this isn't the great idea I thought it was. Thank you.
  4. Sorry about the photo issue. I don't think I can edit the original post (at least I haven't found a way to do it) but the Substack page with photos can be found here. Appreciate the thoughts on the check valve. I do have a virus guard filter as the last of three stages in the water filtration system so I'm comfortable that I'm ok with this setup. I find it to be a time-saver and useful.
  5. This is a copy of an article from my Substack: Oliver's Travels - Travel and adventures in a 2022 Oliver Travel Trailers Legacy Elite II hull #961 With a relatively small black tank (18 gallons) in an Oliver Legacy Elite II travel trailer, I find myself dumping the black tank frequently enough that I wanted a way to avoid pulling out a black hose and doing a hose swap in order to do a black tank flush as part of the process. Instead, I wanted to hook up to city water one time and be done with it. I use the optional aluminum front basket for a water filtration and softener system along with drinking hose and wheel chock storage. My hack is to cut a black hose to exactly the right length to connect the beginning of my water system back to the black tank rinse. This, along with a Save A Drop water meter allows me to quickly do a black tank flush without ever connecting or disconnecting any hoses or worrying about overfilling the black tank. After dumping, I will typically close the black valve, then add about 12-15 gallons of water before dumping again. This fully flushes the black tank and then allows me to easily put another couple of gallons into the tank before closing the valve again. This latter step is particularly important as you should never let a black tank go dry and there should always be sufficient water in the tank to keep things diluted and moving around, especially when driving. As an extra health and safety measure, I added a one-way garden hose check valve between the brass Y fitting where my fresh water is attached and the output to the black tank flush hose. A) City Water in from spigot; B) Save A Drop digital water meter; C) One-way check valve; D) Water out to San-T-Flush black tank rinse. This black hose is cut to fit tightly against the trailer and stays in place all the time. The 90 deg fitting allows for a cleaner and less awkward setup. Brass 90 degree fittings with tightening lugs make connecting and disconnecting fresh water hoses much easier.
  6. Currently in Nature's Way RV park in Utica, Illinois. A former KOA campground, we could not be more pleased with the accommodations. Highly recommended! Starlink works acceptably well here too, BTW. To follow our travels and to get some Oliver tips and tricks, see https://oliverstravels.substack.com/
  7. I lost one of the smaller blocks off of our 2022 LE II as well. Seems like a serious quality control issue. Oliver sent me a new block and adhesive but without the "gun" for the adhesive, it failed to dispense correctly before oozing out all over my hands. I ended up using Gorilla Glue epoxy to reattach it as I've had great success with that product in the past. I also took some wire and looped it through each block then used epoxy to attach the ends to the fiberglass shell. This way if another block comes off, I should at least be able to prevent losing it. Is this a historical problem with all Olivers or a new issue?
  8. On a related note, I'm curious what to expect with humidity levels? I'm not seeing a difference between outside and inside humidity levels. Shouldn't the AC reduce humidity in addition to temperature? I'm using a MarCELL to measure inside temp and humidity so I assume it's accurate. What have others experienced in regards to expected humidity reduction?
  9. Regarding #9, even better is to dump gray for 3 seconds, then black, then rest of gray. This lubricates the sewer hose so that black contents doesn't stick to a dry hose. I'm now the proud owner of Kleen Tank of the Tennessee Valley. If you want your Ollie tanks professionally cleaned, give me a call at 865-224-8400 or go to www.kleentank.com Cheers, Scott Hull #961
  10. I too have this question about the need (or not) for a water softener in an Oliver and am somewhat surprised at the overall lack of discussion on the topic. We recently got a whole house water softener and already see the benefits on our skin. Presumably it will help maintain our home plumbing and appliances as well. Could a few more Ollie owners please chime in on whether or not a small water softener is worth the few hundred dollars or not? Trying to be properly prepared before we take delivery. For the record, we do intend to travel quite a bit out west where the water is known to be particularly hard. Has anyone had plumbing issues with the Oliver and wish in hindsight they had used a softener? Or is it a hassle that's not really worth it? Thank you.
  11. Congrats jordanv. I'm looking forward to posting a similar picture in February of next year. We have an F-150 with a 3.5L Ecoboost V6 w/ Max Tow package as well. Certainly looking forward to more of your driving impressions. Did you get the Andersen? Our F-150 is a 2013, and we intend to replace it with a diesel F-250 a few years from now.
  12. Thank you all for the kind replies and words of welcome. Nice community of folks here!
  13. Hello Oliver Community! My wife Frieda and I placed an order last week for a 2022 Legacy Elite II to be delivered next February. For over 20 years we've dreamed of owning an Airstream but once we learned about Olivers two years ago and took a look at them, the quality difference became apparent and we haven't looked back. We've been working with Phil and can't say enough good things about his customer service. I took a trip to the new showroom just last week and got my second factory tour. We cannot wait for our trailer. We look forward to getting to know all of you. Scott
