  1. Question: if on an inverter, running a Cpap machine, and the CG's generator kicks in, is there any danger? How does the circuits handle this transition, or is there any?
  2. If someone finds themselves hanging out next to their Elite II battery box this weekend with a tape measure in hand, would you mind getting the interior dimensions for me? I'm looking for the dimensions of the fiberglass box rather than the battery tray - height, depth and width. I'm trying to see if I can fit something in there other than batteries.
  3. Something I learned on one of my plant tours... propane conversion of gas generator. Works great and super easy to install. Link below https://www.motorsnorkel.com
  4. Good Monday morning Ollie owners and perspective owners. Just wanted to share this post with you since I've had to answer this question a few times. Progressive dynamics surge protector will give you an error 2 code with some generators that have a neutral ground. The way to solve that is to get a plug designed to ground the system. The following link has such a plug and a short video demonstrating how to test your generator to see if it needs one. Have a great week everyone. http://www.progressiveindustries.net/#!generator-plug/c1mwy
  5. Can you simply connect 30A to the Ollie and the Ollie converter/battery charger charges the batteries? If you direct charge the batteries from the inverter geberazirs DC output, can you overcharge/harm the batteries ?
  6. Owned a Yamaha EF2400iSHC Brushless Inverter AC Generator for about 5 years, but hardly used it so far. Changed the oil on it the other day and wanted to see if it would operate the 13.5K Dometic AC unit on the Ollie. It ran the Coleman Polar Mach 13.5K AC on our previous camper just fine. Tested the Yamaha with the Ollie's Dometic AC and the AC compressor started and cooled the Ollie. Once the temperature is set on the wall mounted thermostat, when the interior temp gets warm enough the AC fan turns on first and the compressor turns on in about 20 seconds while using shore power. Using Yamaha power, the fan turned on first, the fan momentarily stopped while the compressor turned on, then the fan turned on and operated fine until the compressor cycled off, then the fan turned off in about 20 seconds. Assume it's borderline on having enough power to start the Ollie's AC compressor, unless a Micro-Air EasyStart 364 is used. I'm sure the electrical folks here can better comment on this. The EF2400iSHC weighs in at 75 pounds dry and over 80 pounds wet. It's larger and heavier than the current 2000W Yamaha and Honda generators available. 7. To anyone with the generator basket option, can you make a 90 degree turn without hitting your tow vehicle?
  8. Has anybody added stout tie downs to the perimeter of the tray? The expanded aluminum sides are weak and will bend with any real force. The edges are knife sharp and need to be radiused. It needs a ventilated pad to protect the can bottoms .... Otherwise, I think it is a dandy accessory, VERY stout and good looking. I want to be able to tie down a variety of items, but primarily two steel gas cans and two plastic water cans: These fit _perfectly_ in this configuration with no extra room on the sides, and I can strap the gas cans and water cans down hard, and independently, so that either set can be removed without disturbing the other. I just need some better attach points. Maybe these around the top?: .... http://www.macscustomtiedowns.com/product/versatie-track-kit-4-foot/VersaTie-Track-Kits I would need a minimum of a 48 inch and a 36 inch piece to cover the entire perimeter, less the angled corners. Comments welcome. John Davies Spokane WA
  9. I am trying to find the perfect generator for my yet-to-be-ordered Ollie. I will mostly be traveling alone I expect, so there is a limit to how much generator I can dead-lift in and out of my truck or a storage compartment. I'm pretty strong for a woman I think, but still, I'm not going to be slamming around anything much over 50 or maybe 60 pounds. I would like to get away from gasoline because of the general mess and fire danger. And my truck is a diesel, so I have a virtually unlimited supply of that relatively unvolatile fuel if I want to suck it out of the truck. Problem is finding a reasonably lightweight, relatively quiet diesel generator. I found one supposedly made by in Canada by Advanced Engine Technology Ltd., but I am not finding a way to actually buy one. Their website shows one called the Flex-Lite 2.5kW AC/DC that sounds like it might be just the thing. It weights 108 pounds (without fuel I assume). But my plan would be to have it securely locked into a generator basket on the tongue so I don't have to lift it ever. The truck will handle the extra tongue weight fine I am sure. I am wondering if anyone has ever seen or used one of these generators or know where to buy one? Failing in that, any recommendations for an equivalent diesel that doesn't weight 400 lbs and cost more than the Ollie would be helpful. Also, the thing is rated at 75 db at 7 m, which is about 15 db more than similar kW-rated gasoline Hondas and Yamahas. But 75 db is supposed to be about like a hair dryer, which doesn't sound so awful. I might be able to get a cover with good sound insulation that I could run on it to minimize the noise and still let the engine cool (it is air-cooled so it will need air). This is the website where I found the Flex-Lite, but it seems to exist nowhere else, other than a picture on the web http://www.aet.ca/index.php?section=50 Any comments on how much of a jerk I would be at 75 db and advice on diesel generators in general. I'm not so concerned with the extra cost, since I would expect to get many more hours out of a diesel engine to offset the initial expense. But the perfect model so far eludes all search. 10. Would a couple of stacked Rotopax work on top of the rear bumper beside the spare tire without blocking any lights? Perhaps mounted sideways? How much room is there on each side of the tire cover, could an Ollie owner please measure? http://rotopax.com/L-Bracket.html Just thinking about some mods, once I get one..... I am not interested in carrying fuel inside the truck or trailer, or in front of the trailer where it would get blasted. The back porch of the Ollie looks as if it is crying out for some added equipment. Thanks. John Davies Spokane WA USA
  11. Yea, the search box is not black any longer...
  12. I am having a generator cage fabricated that will fit on the trailer tongue for a 3000 WATT Boliy (Yamaha knockoff) Safety question...Do most folks leave the genny in place when running, or move it away from the trailer. Just a bit concerned about Carbon Monoxide poisoning. We will be dry camping a lot this Summer and will need the AC some of the time.
  13. Has anyone bought the generator box from Oliver. My trailer is under construction and this is the time to add things I may want in the future. I would be buying at least a 3000 wat propane genset. Would the tongue location place too much weight on the hitch? I have ordered the wdh so maybe that's not such an issue.
  14. Here is a quick look with photos of the Generator Basket and it's connections with the automatic buss transfer switch. http://olivertraveltrailers.com/connected/
  15. Thinking of putting litter box cover at bottom of closet with access through opening at bottom of closet-any other ideas where box could be put and not in way? Also would love to see ideas for kitchen cabinet shelves under sink, etc. What is the metal pole sticking up in trailer? Charleen
  16. I accidentally ran across an interesting event and wondered if some of you electrical wizards could help answer some questions. I was powering the Nest Egg with the Honda generator set on eco throttle. The car was still attached to the Ollie. I went into the car to "crack" the windows a bit and when I turned the ignition on I could hear the Honda revving up. Wondering if was just a coincidence, I did it again with the same result. Questions: Is the Honda trying to charge the car battery or is it just powering the systems? Is there any danger in this? (small gauge wires, blown diodes, etc?) Could this be an emergency way of charging a weak starting battery? Any and all help is appreciated. BTW, there appears to have been no ill effects to either electrical system, but the ignition was only left on for a few seconds.
  17. I am seeking recommendations from those who have purchased a Honda EU2000i generator on-line. What on-line vendor did you buy the generator from? What was the price? Shipping cost? Was it a good purchase experience? Thanks! Steve
