Where to carry spare gas for the generator?

Since propane gas powered refrigerators have experienced problems, I think that's a good question.

We rarely camp above 5000 feet.

I'll look to others for good answers.

This is the way we loaded the gas cans at the end of the season up above 10 thousand feet where we were off grid for over 110 days each year. Our 3000 watt Yamaha generator holds a bit less than three gallons of gasoline, mounted on the Oliver tongue, so the last of the gas was put there, with the empty can carried on the roof rack. The small gas can contained chainsaw oil/gas mix and the last of it was put in the saw, and the saw in it's case. The small saw gas can was carried on the rear rack empty. Now to the casual observer this may have looked dangerous but the empty cans never presented a threat to us.

Here is a look at the generator box on the tongue.

After a trip west where gasoline stations were scarce at times I bought two of the Sceptre gas cans based on Steves experience.  Instead of the purpose made $35 wrench needed to tighten and remove the caps I just use a strap wrench.  I did buy the special filler spout.  These cans do not smell or leak.  They are in my truck bed at all times.

I put a  multi fuel carb on my Honda Genset and carry a 20 pound tank back there as well.

Does your Honda 2000 run your AC. I have ordered a Legacy Elite II for pickup in late June. I currently have a Honda EU2000 Companion and the Oliver folks tell me it won't run the AC. I hate to buy another Honda 2000 but, I don't want to get caught without AC in the middle of summer if a RV space can't be found. Thanks. Cash

You will need to buy it's partner and the simply wire set to make it 4000 watts. I have both and its simple. 2 HONDA 2000 watt generators is all you need to run it all. With a 2000 watt set up, it all works except the AC : / Good luck.

They barely use any gas. All you need is a spare gallon and a full tank in the generators. It's easy to transport a gallon or 2 with a little common sense. DO NOT STRAP IT INTO YOUR PASSENGER SEAT! Bungi it into the bed of your truck or on your front OLIVER metal basket. (toss a generator in the trunk to make room in the basket.)

You won't need a second generator, if you install the micro air soft start. All the information you need is at the micro air post.

Saw this on a truck camper at Bass pro shop Tuesday. Don't know if it's custom, but pretty slick
