Check your hose attachment fittings

When they do you will need to carefully remove the strainer washer and use a 1/2 inch hex key (Allen wrench) to reinstall. It only needs to be snugged up because there is a rubber washer on the back side.

A bolt with a 1/2 inch head and 2 jam nuts will also work.

Might be wise to check them when convenient rather than replace them when inconvenient.

Thank you. We think we might have a 1/2" hex in the shop, we have never used. But the bolt idea makes a lot of sense, and would take up less room in the tool kit. Guess we will check ours. Maybe have to look about adding a brass or chrome nipple and 45* el to set the connection outboard a little further. That might make it easier to hook up the hose, especially if we add a hanger...

Easier, maybe, but unless you have installed mudflaps on the trailer you risk damage from stuff thrown by the left rear tire..... I suggest that you keep them tucked away as they were installed at the factory. Or install mudflaps ;)

John, Really like your mud flaps!

I wish Oliver would make a kit for these or made them integrated into the over all fender well.  I cant do what you did until I solve a bigger problem but sure like your work.  Our 2017 Elite II, Hull #227 was one of the first to get the larger rims and tires standard which are great but, when I added on the E-Z Flex Suspension System as an option, the geometry of the wheel fender changed and is off-center now.

The bigger rims & tries with the E-Z Flex push the entire wheel assembly forward and out of center in the fender wells.  What this does is put the tire less then 2" from the fiberglass.  I have already had to replace one fender do to the tire hitting it and tearing the whole fender off.  I showed this to Scott Oliver at the Rally and he had not seen it before.

Foy, that looks just so very wrong to me! And totally unacceptable. Are both sides like that, or just the left one?

My suspicion is there is a manufactureing defect in the subframe, one or more hangers are mislocated, or more likely, the entire subframe was positioned too far forward on the frame rails. Either way, Oliver owes you some serious shop time to fix it.

On “Mouse” the left jack is positioned almost an inch further back than the right, but the suspension is centered under the fenders. There is zero contact between tire and fender.

Please start a new thread about this and report back when it is sorted out.

RE the mudflaps.... I sent a link to my install thread to Jason with a suggestion that they engineer and offer a similar design as a factory option, and he agreed that it would be a good idea. He said a few customers have specifically asked, and they are mandatory if the trailer goes to Canada. Incorporating brackets or just pre-drilled mounting holes into the build of the subframes would be dead simple. Then the arms would be plug-and-play. The hardest part of the mod is lying on your back and drilling the steel subframe.....

Thanks John for the thoughts and information. I will start a new tread. I too talked with Jason about mud flaps and told him they should be an add-on. My idea was to build out the sub-frame to accommodate flaps that could be add-on by owner or ordered. I was thinking they should partner with someone like Weather-Tech who make custom mud flaps for trucks. I have a set on my truck, they are build tough, and have taken a beating over the years of service. One way or another they need to address this issue.

Thanks again,

RE the mudflaps [...] they are mandatory if the trailer goes to Canada.

So anybody going up to Alaska via Canada (as opposed to ferry) needs to have mudflaps?

I doubt it, flaps are required for registering a trailer there. If you moved and took your Ollie you would have to fit a set. I think.

This is heresay for me.

Thanks for this info Bill! I was not aware these came apart. Guess I will need to carry a bolt now on top of everything else. :-)

These are the same fittings that Oliver has been using since 2008. The fitting is designed to come apart apparently so you can replace the outer assembly without removing the entire fitting.

I like the fittings. But one came off in my hand while setting up in the dark one evening. And most Allen wrench sets don’t have the 1/2 inch size. I tightened mine up and put a tool in my box to tighten them up should it happen again. I’d rather have a tool and not need it than need it and not have it.

Wow.  I just completed a 15K miles trip through Canada and did not garner any citations.

Are we sure they are mandatory in Canada?

Kindly disregard.  Operator error.  🙂

I think JED said, if registering a trailer in Canada

Still and all, after many trips to Alaska, through Canada, of course, I'd want mudflaps. We installed them in 2008.
