Rear lights

We have had a problem in the past with our trailer lights coming on.  We found the problem to be moisture in the 7 pin plug that connects to tow vehicle.

Can’t you just hang the plug vertically so water can't get in? It is also necessary to seal the entry into the plug housing, using silicone sealer. Water goes in that opening too.

That is what I do and I have never had that problem, but maybe I have been lucky and it just hasn’t happened yet.

Plus I live in a dry climate.

We thought that would be the answer too but, at least in the subtropics, the lights still came on.
