Dinette Window Leak

Mingy

Recommended Posts

Hello All, just picked up hull 389 early November.  Drove from Hoehnwald to NE Florida in heavy rain, no leaks.  Two nights ago, got caught in a sideways rain, almost horizontally hitting the dinette and street side rear window, about 2 inches in under an hour.  Both windows were open so water got inside but when closed the dinette window kept leaking.  I suspect that the channels were already full and that didn't help.  Level trailer and clear weep holes.  My solution will be to check the porch light seals, try the pipecleaner trick, and try to run down some rv gutters which in my opinion all RV's should have anyway.  But is there a particular brand of RV gutter that works with an Oliver?

Thanks,

Mingy

Hull #389.

Options:  Stowage basket, propane connects.

Tow Vehicle: 2007 Ford F250 V-10, 4WD, Crew Cab, Long Bed.  Stock.

Recovering Airstream Owner (The Silver Sieve)...it was a rolling apocalypse.  Fridge was quirky and ruined food (famine).  Had weird electrical problems, circuits with breakers thrown still carried some current (possible fire).  Leaked (flood).  Mildew from leak gave me cold-like symptoms (pestilence).

EZE rvgutter, a available at campingworld ( on sale right now) or amazon, is what we use. Get the bright white, not the colonial.

Mingy -

As per Sherry's suggestion on the gutters -

https://www.amazon.com/RV-Gutter-Ultra-White-UW025004/dp/B00LE0CC24/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1546265260&sr=8-8&keywords=rv+gutter

If you decide to get this product there are a couple of reviews of it here on the Forum. Remember to clean, clean and clean again before applying and (if you can) only apply it when you know the temperatures will be warm - above 80 is very nice.

Yes indeed.  Applying 3M over an un-prepped surface is a potent time waster.  I just wish that visors were available, like the ones that most cars seem to have over their windows (or in front of the sunroof) now.   If they stuck out about 6 inches horizontally and came down 3-4 inches over the window that would stop a lot of problems before they start.

Try this for a discussion on the EZE Gutter -

http://olivertraveltrailers.com/topic/eze-rv-gutters/

Since the last post relative to my EZE gutters I have had two of the gutter ends come loose.  Interestingly the problem was NOT where the 3M tape was bonded to the Oliver, but, the 3M tape came loose from the gutter material.  I simply took a bit of a clear sealer/glue (E3000 is the brand that I used) and re-stuck the loose ends.  During my 6,000 mile Idaho trip this past summer where temps reached over 108 degrees, all now remains firmly stuck.  And, there is still no discoloration of the gutter material - they continue to look exactly like they were on the day I installed them.
