I'm no longer full-timing and about 2 weeks ago I emptied the trailer while doing some routing maintenance. It took like 3 days to organize all of the junk I had been carrying in the Oliver for full-timing. Some of which I had put in there the first week I rolled out, never used, and then prompty forgotten about until I hauled it out again.

So that's a data point at least. 😉

Storage initially looks like a challenge.  But, we’ve found it easy to pack for a couple of months without sacrificing much.  The only exception is when we’re going to be in warm weather and then cold weather, we’ll carry a large Tupperware in the back seat with winter clothes.  We can fold what we need and store in the overheads plus some hang ups in the closet.  The closet is large for the size of the trailer and can hold lots of stuff.  All in all, over the years, we’ve found that less is more.  We always have the same discussion on the way home about “why did I pack this?” Or “why did we bring that?”  We carry fewer kitchen items and fewer clothes.  The truck is the same, we’ve gone from an overloaded Tacoma to pretty full half tons to a 3/4 ton with excess space.  Mike

@Geronimo John - Hey, GJ; FYI, D found these from Amazon.  They work out well for our needs.  They fit through the street side garage hatch.  We use them in the back of the SUV also.

Bought similar at Northern Tool, brand name Big Ant, available in two sizes. I use two of the smaller in the further reaches of the basement; one for water-, other electric-related stuff. The first ‘in’ has a rope tied to it for easy retrieval, the second used to push the first all of the way back. Perfect fitment to maximize that available, but hard to reach space. Just know, I had no inclination to opt for the interior basement hatch door at the twin model nightstand, the Lagun table was the preferred option. Since these crates ‘nest’, I stack two under cap in the TV bed for miscellaneous, as well as two in the cab behind the center console for easy to reach items and snacks. As for the larger size, I find them very handy in transporting  food and clothing to and from the OTT, with no intentions to take with.

For the nightstand drawer, I used the excellent trick that Bill came up with.  But instead of the aluminum angle, I added some adjustable shelf pegs to the drawer, and then stuck some thick felt on the sides of the insert to both center it and keep it from sliding around.  Then I placed a similar 10 x 16 tray in the bottom, also with some felt pads to keep it in place.

 

 

Man, now I know where all the lip balm and sharpies end up.

 

I added two wire organizers to the pantry door (glued some 1 x 2 PVC to the door to give some extra depth and something to screw to.). Unfortunately I can't find these exact items on Amazon now to link to -

 

 

We added storage nets galore, and these are incredibly handy -

 

 

In the pantry, I added a stainless plate from Amazon, to which I attached a small box from Ikea (discontinued) to use as a spice shelf.  (The box slides under the pantry shelf when closed to keep the contents from bouncing out.). A bungee across the very top on the inside holds a folding drying mat perfectly.  The boxes are Sterilite Clip Boxes, medium and small, which you can get on Amazon or at Target.  They're the best fitting that I've found so far.  On our last trip, I had trouble finding stuff to fill them.  The light in the pantry is a Luminoodle Click.

 

By the way, I buy bungee stuff from www.hookandcord.com.

 

 

I asked for the cabinet instead of the microwave/convection oven, and we keep a toaster oven there, plus I made a shelf for plates and bowls -

 

 

Some hooks by the door are always handy -

 

 

As are some flashlights -

 

 

Over the kitchen, I found these boxes for glassware, mini bar, etc.  They're another discontinued item, but if you want to find something similar, they're 6.25"w x 11.5"d x 5"h. We keep out the two or three pans from our Magma set that we use all the time, while the rest stays in their storage bag.  I lined the back of all our upper cabinets with the same stiff felt from Ikea that I used on the drawers (they had them on closeout sale, so I bought them out.) Like with the drawers, it keeps things from marring the fiberglass, plus I think it looks a lot better -

 

 

The bath cabinet stays stuffed, but these boxes from Ikea help to keep it somewhat organized.  I covered the back of the door with black vinyl to protect the mirrored surface -

 

 

In the back of the attic, I put another storage net to hold books in place, and then in front of that, we keep camp chairs and other small items that get unloaded at the camp site.  The rest is filled with electronics.  -

 

@Overland These are great organization ideas!  We were wondering though, what kind of glue did you use to affix the stainless steel piece to your pantry door?

I'm curious about the arrangement on the wall. Do you have multiple shelves as well as some spice bottles attached via magnets? Or are there suction cups involved somehow?  Thank you for sharing.

I needed a storage box for loose gear in the tow vehicle and found the Plano 27 Gallon Multi Purpose Tote at our local BiMart.  They seem well made, have secure latches, and rollers on one end to help maneuver them into the deep recesses of an 8’ pickup bed.  Not bad for $40.

We just keep it simple and that has worked well for us. On day one, the 2 soft boxes from our truck camper (our pantry) didn't even fill a third of the lower area of the pantry. We both cracked up laughing. She packs the pantry according to each trip and length.

 

Closet has plastic boxes on the bottom with a Goal Zero 400 Lithium power pack. The shelves have some plastic storage boxes, dehumidifier, all cube heater, First aid kit.

2-attoc areas over dinette have my clothes. Attic over street side bed has blankets, hammock. Attic over curb side bed wife's clothes. 2-attic areas over sink and stove have pots, pans, plates stored in wicker baskets or just in the attic. Rear attic above tv is a back pack, coaxial cable for tv and extra space.

Truck bed packed based on trip location and length.

For the truck bed, these boxes fit below the tonneau cover on my GMC 3500 perfectly, with the 10-gallons stacked on top of the 19-gallons. (Walmart also sells them in sets of 6.)
