We are meandering our way across Texas on the way to Alabama and the rally.  We stopped this afternoon at Liberty Hill COE campground on Navarro Lake in between Waco and Corsicana.  It looks like an older park, with some nice sites by the lake and some average looking sites in a couple of loops away from the lake.  There are three other COE campgrounds on the lake, we can see all three across the lake from our site.  I might try another one of the campgrounds if we come back through this way.

Mike & Carol -

I understand that it is very hot in Texas these days.  Hope that you are not getting the worst of it and that you don't bring it to Alabama with you.

See you soon!

Tonight we’re at another COE campground in Mississippi near Starkville, just outside of Columbus AFB.  We picked it at random due to location but are pleasantly surprised.  It’s a very nice campground and we have FHU (not that we need that for one night).  We’re only about 170 miles from Lake Guntersville and the rally, so we will have a short drive tomorrow.  Nostalgia - 60 years ago we lived here in Starkville where I went to 2nd and 3rd grade while my dad went to Mississippi State University.

Looks like a nice campground. Another bit of nostalgia and coincidence, I went to high school in Guntersville, know the area very well. Y'all have fun

We like the green lushness of this area but would like to be driving through and camping in Montana…

It's Obed River not "Obey"  and it is beautiful. I'm in Tennessee. Glad you enjoyed it.

The Obey and Obed are two separate rivers. The Obey river where rideandfly stayed is on the Dale Hollow Lake near the KY and TN state line. The Obed River is a NPS Wild and Scenic River located a little further south in Morgan and Cumberland counties of TN.

We love the Obed! We used to kayak on that river a lot. Beautiful! Are we getting off topic? 😂

I agree, the Obed is a special place. I have spent a lot of time there, and also at the Big South Fork (NPS), Frozen Head and Pickett State Parks in the Upper Cumberland Plateau area.

Ollie in the Wild -

We recently spent a week at Natural Tunnel SP in the South Western tip of  Virginia...a nice and private site at Lovers Leap. Water and electric only with a dump station. Showers were super clean and fairly new looking. Would highly recommend this SP.

Our site was all nice.

We are about 70 mi from Natural Tunnel SP and go there about twice a season.  I recommend you also visit Big Stone Gap, Norton VA ( WoodBugger check it out and you'll understand), and the small towns around area while you're there.  Lot's of beautiful country to see and history.

We have very good friends in that area, and we owe them a visit. Hopefully,  this year or next.

I agree. Beautiful country.

We’ll be there from July 1-10, and nearly at Lake Powhatan June 16-19th. It is such a beautiful area, and has been our go-to for camping for over 30 years.FE57FA74-A83F-42C5-A281-8C52CD3D5FF9.thumb.jpeg.ff9b211eafcfc605bd83c69517c43ed4.jpeg

Currently in Nature's Way RV park in Utica, Illinois. A former KOA campground, we could not be more pleased with the accommodations. Highly recommended! Starlink works acceptably well here too, BTW.
