Awning mod?

Recommended Posts

This popped up on my Facebook news feed.  Could this be useful on self-supporting awnings?

I haven't heard of anyone using them, but it's worth a shot to see.

For what it's worth, I've never had a problem with water pooling on our Carefree awning.  And relative to Ollies with the Fiamma, the Carefree seems to be much tauter.  I know that the fabric is different on mine at least - Recaril vs Sunbrella.  The fabric may start to sag over time, of course (and it's a mostly irrelevant observation to anyone who has or is getting the new Dometic awning).

I think if you opt for the powdered version, I'd make sure that you turn off the auto retract if you use those noodles.

Still haven't decided on Dometic manual or powered.  Need to do some research.

As far as pool noodles go, they come in handy in a lot of ways.  Would definitely turn off auto retract if using one on the awning.  😀

I just angle my awning slightly to the back whenever i put it out.  Never had an issue.  I do carry some pool noodles that I have used on the supports from time to time.
