Xtend and Climb Pro Series 780P 12.5” telescopic ladder

Patriot

Recommended Posts

After a lot of research, I recently ordered and received this Xtend and Climb Pro Series telescopic ladder and the silicone protective top rung cover. This ladder will travel with our Ollie. My initial impressions are it’s a very robust ladder. It’s hefty weighing in at 32lbs, very little flex and has a 300# weight limit. The reviews overall are solid. The silicone protective rung cover may work better than pool noodles when laying the ladder top rung on the Ollies gelcoat.
I plan on detailing our Ollie using this ladder in the next few days and will post up a review and feed back on how it functions.
Just a little info if your looking for a travel ladder.

Happy Camping!

  • The title was changed to Xtend and Climb Pro Series 780P 12.5” telescopic ladder

We also need a ladder but haven't chosen one yet.  If you're going to be detailing your Ollie you'll be standing on it for a while.  Looking forward to your review!

I have been considering buying one of these ladders, which are available at my local Camping World. Do you think a 10 foot ladder is tall enough to access the roof for detailing and maintenance work, or should I get the 12 footer? I will take delivery of my Elite 2 in September of this year, and am researching items to bring with us when we travel to the mothership to collect out trailer.

I did not  know about  the  rung  cover. I've got a different model (CS125+/300) but this  same rung cover fits my model  also - thanks for the post! I'll  be getting one of those covers for  sure

I'd say 10' or 12' to actually get on the roof.  I've used both to get on the roof with no issues at home.  I do carry an 8.5' version of this ladder in the Ollie closet while on trips:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082V77HJY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.  I really like it because it's small, lightweight and has a one button push to close.  The 8.5' is fine to climb up and inspect things primarily - you can get on the roof with it if necessary although getting back down is the "challenging" part although not bad on the awning/curb side.

Fargoman,

A 10’ would work but I opted for the 12 footer as I wanted just a little more ladder to hang onto when up top.
I believe the 10’’ has a 250# load bearing spec.

️Congrats on your Ollie! It will be here before you know it!
You have a nice month for delivery in Tennessee!

Kevin,

Let me rephrase that...more of a wash and waxing 😄. I will post up a review. It’s a tad on the heavy side at 30 lbs.

Three years ago, I purchased at Home Depot the Telesteps ladder shown below.  As decked out, I'm about 245 pounds so I really liked the stronger version of the TeleSteps Climbing Ladder, Type 1, Model 1600E.  If you are over 190 pounds or so, you may want to consider this heavy duty OSHA Compliant version.  This firm was one of the original telestep providers and their product is first rate.

When I get up on top of Ollie, I extend it out the full length and it gives me a high hand hold to then slide off the side to the roof.  I would not recommend getting anything shorter than 12' actual ladder length.  Don't be confused by how high you can reach, just go by the ladder actual height.

I have been all over the roof of our Elite II every year for detail cleaning (Typically twice a season)  and waxing every season.  It is easier to wax the center section from on top.  Safer to wax the lower top side sections from the ladder.  First couple of times I was on top, I was a bit worried.  Now not so much any more.

This model collapses down to about 3' and fits very nicely in the front side (Behind the hanging cloths) of the coat closet as you enter Ollie.  I cover it in a blanket to protect the fiberglass.

A beautiful 81 degree sunny day here on Blueberry Hill in Western NC, so we gave our Ollie a bath and got it cleaned up and ready to go.
The ladder is a keeper. It did not flex at all and the entire time I felt very safe on it. No wobble, no bend, no creaks, just solid. It extended very smoothly and retracted as it should. I would not hesitate to purchase this ladder again. I have attached a few pics showing how well the silicone rung cover works. I give it a 👍🏻 Up. PM if you have questions.
Hope this helps anyone looking for a decent strong telescopic ladder.

My Bride and I also removed the old white window seals and installed the new black seals after a good deep cleaning of the window tracks. A few extra bonus photos.

Partially extended was all I needed as I am tall and this worked great.

The silicone rung protector worked excellent.

I've used the same ladder for several years, now. I climb onto roofs, into attics and other places for work. I like it. Have the same ladder for about 8 years. It holds up well, fits in the trunk of a car if needed.

JRK,

Good to know, a big thank you for your feedback👍🏻. I admittedly am not a huge fan of climbing on ladders any more, especially ones that flex or that I just do not feel safe on. I never felt uncomfortable washing the Ollie roof top and solar panels on this ladder.
