This is a wonderful opportunity for both those attending and anyone interested in Olivers to share information, share mods, share a common interest and simply camp with other like-minded individuals (at least regarding Olivers).

Hopefully the weather will shine on you and all will be safe in coming and going - ENJOY!

As a soon to be owner of a new Oliver, we are planning a trip to the northeast the last of Sept and early Oct. can your group offer any suggestions as to good campgrounds and things to see? Would appreciate any comments.

There are many CG's from Federal, State to private CG's. to may to list here.

For instance there is Arcida National Park along the Ocean, Baxter State Park  which is home to Mt. Katahdin, endpoint orf the Applichian Trail and Sebago Lake State Park, which are both inland.

Many many private CG's.

Best thing to do is google Campgrounds in Maine for a list or since you have time request for a campground booklet from Maine Tourism or AAA has a great booklet.

@Gary W, I  see this is your first post. Welcome to the forum!

You might want to start a new topic on your campground search. You'll get more responses, and it will keep this thread specific to the meet and greet.

Ps, that's a beautiful time to camp in New England.

We started getting organized today for the Maine not rally.  We de-winterized today.  The Ollie seems to be in good shape.  Just needs a wipe down and we should be ready to go.  I will start the fridge the day before.  We are only an hour from the campground.  We will load up next Monday morning and head to the campground.  We are looking forward to seeing some Ollie folks we know and meeting some new folks too. Hopefully we get great weather and the black flys and mosquitoes stay away.  Ticks too!!  See ya next Monday.

We all owe you and Dewdev a big ol’ thank you for putting it together. Deb and I had a blast, and will figure out how to be there from start to finish should there be another event in the future.

Of the present 17 Maine Oliver Owners, 10 were in attendance. 2 folks were awaiting delivery. Pretty good attendance percentage for the first ever event in Maine.

As with the general camping crowd,  the Maine Oliver Owner's are great frendly people. There was a lot of sharing of ideas by everyone. The weather was great. Two days in the low 90's and the remainder of the week and weekend were in the high 60's or low 70's. Great weather for us Mainers.

Attached are a few pictures of:

- The campground and the Ollies,

- Common meetings at night at the fire pit,

- Pot luck meal together,

- At the Archers on the Pier restaurant in Rockland on Wednesday night.

It was great for this Ollie newby to meet everyone from all over Maine. I learned a lot about things Oliver. Thanks to All!

Richard

Its a real shame that you guys simply couldn't find a prettier place to hold a rally (just kidding!)

As the old saying goes - build it and they will come.  Even so - great attendance.  Congrates!

Looks like a happy group of Oliver owners!  Hope to be visiting your state, for the first time, in a few weeks!  Mike

Mike, you’d been looking for recommendations for campgrounds in Maine a couple weeks back... Lobster Buoy Campground should be on your list of potential places. It is a nice no frills little campground in a beautiful location in the Midcoast... If you ended up staying there and put the word out, you might find yourselves surrounded by local Ollies, as in the photos above...

We’re still working logistical details. It’s a long drive from south Texas and we want to get as far north as we can quickly to escape this oppressive heat.  I was able to make some reservations at Forest Ridge campground in Ellsworth, Acadia and Lemoine were booked solid into the fall.

Mike:

Forest Ridge CG looks nice and is a great gateway to Acadia NP. Kind of pricey.

Other CG's are not as expensive. Check out the Rockland area where there are 2 CG's (owned by the same people) Rockland is on the ocean.
