We are investigating Rv’s, specifically travel trailers. We wouldn’t purchase what are typically defined as “travel trailers” that basically self destruct as you drive down the road. We are previous airstream owners and looking at other opportunities. We sold our a/s several years ago. Hail was a constant concern.  We are looking for a well built unit that Oliver seems to offer.

All the best!

Welcome to the forum, Bucket Traveler. We have several former a/s owners on the forum. And, a number of folks who have downsized from larger trailers and motorhomes to enjoy the spaces they can get to in an Oliver.

BT, welcome!  Hail isn’t a big concern with the Oliver, we’ve been through several hail storms (medium to small hail) with no issues.  Since everything is molded to shape there’s also no worries about cabinets and other interior features coming loose.  It’s solid.  Not as wide and spacious as an AS, but very liveable.  Ask questions, lots of experts (and opinions) here…. We also experienced a "micro-burst" hailstorm three years ago--75mph winds were driving marble sized hail horizontally across our property.  It stripped all the vegetation (trees, shrubs, garden plants) totally clean and did more than $110K in damages to the house.  Not one scratch or dent on the Ollie fiberglass!!!  I was shocked.  The only thing the storm did was pepper the narrow plastic lining around the front door--easily replaced!

We've been through a few hail storms, up to steely marble size. Not with the wind described above, though we did have shredded leaves all around, like chopped salad.

Zero damage. Not to our 2008 solar panels, either.
