New Owners from SC Joining the Oliver Family

SC Lakers

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to introduce ourselves and thank everyone for all of the valuable information on the forums.  We are Dave & Becky Rutkiewic and we are picking up our LEII (Hull # 870) in August of this year.  We live in the upstate of SC on Lake Keowee.  We are first time RV'ers and are excited about hitting the road with our new Ollie!

Hi, and welcome!

I was just talking yesterday to some old friends in your area. It's beautiful!

Welcome Dave and Becky!  We too are from SC...err...used to be 🙂  We sold the house and have been full-timing in our Casita these past 15 months or so.  We're lined up for an Oliver pickup in mid January (brrr).  Happy trails, hope to meet ya'll some day.

Congratulations! We picked up hull 743 in mid-February so they are really cranking them out now to be up to hull 870 in just 6 months! You will love your new Oliver and pick up time will be here before you know it. Happy adventuring in the years to come.

Hi Dave and Becky!  We're Kathryn and Chad, and we're in Traveler's Rest, not too far from you!  We were complete novices when we got our trailer in fall of 2019, just before Chad retired, but if you read here and watch a lot of You Tube videos, you'll be fine.  We just started traveling again and we're surprised how much we still remember after 16 months off, with nothing but bringing it back and forth from storage to do maintenance work.  The learning curve is steep, but most of it sticks with you once you've done it all a few times.

We're not here on the forum a ton, but feel free to send us a direct message if you have questions.  Happy travels!

Welcome!  We are from NC, near Raleigh.  Our second journey in our Ollie was to hike at 3 SC state parks, using Table Rock SP as our base camp.  Made the mistake of entering  from the wrong entrance (the East Gate - we missed the sign about no campers)  Very curvy!  We survived, but make sure you enter by the West Gate entrance for campers.  After unhitching, we were able to take the truck to Caesar's Head SP the next day which has a parking area that would not work with the trailer attached.
