Base Price for an EII

ChrisMI

Recommended Posts

As I’m looking at used and new trailers I’m curious what the base price on the EII was over the past few years. Looking like 65k for a 2022 and 55 ish for a 2019.  2000? 2021? The first deliveries?  Any notable changes in included standard equipment over those years?

I can tell you that when we ordered in 2015 the base price for an Elite II was 46K.  Over the years as the base price increased, so did standard features.  The trailer is basically the same, shell and frame, but upgrades to suspension (Dexter) and internal components have been made.  That’s why older trailers often sell for more than they did when new, especially if the owner has kept up with some of the improvements.  Mike

Let’s not forget that you should make a correction to “today’s” dollars to be meaningful.

Add then add for the crazy times we find ourselves in today. I have sold several higher dollar recreation and farm items in the last two months -  I could have gotten many more $$$ than I asked - the market has moved much higher than I ever imagined,  Similar to what you hear about in the Real Estate market - you have to experience it to believe it - just amazing.

Pretty much irrelevant,  unless you have the build sheet, imo.

Oliver has always included a lot in the base model, but base seems to grow in features every year.

Just looking at the 2019/22 numbers it looks like the EII has increased ~8.5k with roughly a 5k increase a couple months ago for the ‘22 models. Interesting that the option upgrade cost has remained the same…

I’m not implying the increase is out of line as some construction equipment like dump trailers have jumped 30% in the last year, but it does give a buyer pause.  Similar to BofB I’ve been pairing down this year and I’m not one to chase runaway prices on toys. However, labor costs are going up so new prices will probably continue to rise in the future.

2 x 4 x 8 lumber has seen 3 times price of last year, in my neighborhood..

Plastics and glue, including pvc pipe and conduit are through the roof.

I'm actually surprised that 2022 prices haven't increased more, imo.

The elephant in the room is what's in the base model. That has changed a lot, over the years .

Base price on my 2017 E2 was 49,900.00.  But at that time, you could very easily get your trailer into the $60k range with options.

I believe that 2018 was the first substantial jump in base price, which reflected an equally substantial increase in demand the previous year (though there also seems to be a big jump between Steve's 38k in '14 and TopGun's 48.5k in '16).  But like Mike said above, they also began to offer a good many options as standard that year, and they've increased the number of standard items most every year since.

So for the E2 it looks like we just need 2015's price to own the whole set...

2014 - 38.0

2015 - ?

2016 - 48.5

2017 - 49.9

2018 - 53.9

2019 - 53.9

2020 - 55.9

2021 - 57.5

2022 - 62.5 (65.0?)

Possible that they did a mid-year price increase.

Probably.  There are no discounts, other than bundled packages. All the reps work from the same schedules.

I feel like I’m being played…different prices depending on which salesman you talk with?

The base prices I stated did not come from a Salesperson, they were off the first printing of the 2022 brochures.

As Overland state, it is likely they made a mid-year price change/included something an option as standard.

Yes, Oliver did a mid year price increase.

When I asked for brochures to use when customers visit our unit, Anita also sent me updated price sheets and asked that I remove the older ones from the earlier folders they sent.  There could be some older price sheets still floating about and that could explain the different numbers you may have heard.

The current build sheets that I have in my handouts are attached.

Oliver made several changes in the last two years and have consolidated items that once were options now as standard gear. (example: remote & electric awning instead of manual)  and reduce down the number of choices that customers had to make.  (Example: fewer color combinations on interior and less exterior graphics colors etc.)   They have also done away with many other items that they once offered...like NO Microwave and having a cabinet opening instead.

Growth has it's pro's and con's.

I'm still really happy with our unit.

I think two big changes to base is they made fancy  awning standard. That was 700 upgrade on my 2021.  They also made fiber granite standard.   That was 1800 upgrade if I recall correctly.   I am glad I was able to get my 2021 with the white counters.   I don’t like the fiber granite and already upgraded dinette to top made by Foy with plans to do nightstand top as well.

If price is 65k that is 5k cost increase after you account for 2.5k above added to base unit.

We ordered our 2022 in May 2021 for a March 2022 delivery.  We were told at the time of our tour and order that the main reason for the price increase was due to the increased cost of fiberglass in 2022.  And yes, the standard equipment list now includes several items that were previously options.

I am also disappointed that the white counters are not available. The aggressive price inflation for an item you don’t receive for a year has completely turned me off a new unit.  I’ll casually keep looking at used units this fall into next year.  I have a feeling there will be a huge selection of slightly used RV units next year with an abundance of pets to adopt as well.

Curious if the cost of fiberglass follows the futures values of other building supplies like lumber?  Has the cost of fiberglass come back down to realistic prices again or is the demand still too high?

I think the increase in lumber prices is more the result of the huge number of homes destroyed in the recent devastating wildfires, especially those in 2020.  On the other hand, there is an increase in the timber supply as, here in Oregon, logs are now being salvaged from those fires.  We regularly see log trucks on the roads carrying three log loads - something we haven't seen in a long time.  Sadly, there are few mills remaining that can process these large logs into lumber.  We are fortunate to have one right in our community.

We experienced the same jump in construction materials cost when our home was built shortly after hurricane Katrina.  On the other hand, our house framing and interior trim is tight grain, old growth Douglas Fir and the exterior beams and trim old growth Port Orford Cedar - both salvaged from Oregon's 2002 Biscuit Fire.
