Any suggestions for Camping Availability in the VI-WV area for Labor Day Weekend?

Other than "you should have made Reservations weeks ago!!!"

we are running up (SW to NE) the Blue Ridge Parkway, then the Shenandoah Skyline Drive, so we will be in the Front Royal, VI. area this weekend.  but we are having difficulty getting in next (Labor Day) weekend at the places we have been looking at.  we will wait to enter the Maryland/DC area until after the L-D Weekend

we headed up to Maine before heading back to ND. and are hoping after L-D Weekend/School starting up, reservations will open up.

Any camping areas SW of the Maryland/DC we should look at?

If you wanted to head toward DC early, it looks like there are some sites left at Lake Fairfax Park near Reston.  (also staying there in October so can't give details.)

Pohick Bay still had quite a few nonelectric sites available Labor Day weekend. No services, but pet friendly.

We stayed there probably 10 years ago, and loved it, but we were in the electric only section. I don't remember anything about the non-electric loop, so we probably didn't drive through it. You might want to look at photos or reviews,, or call the office about those sites before committing..

Bonus is, though Pohick Bay is "out in the country," it's only  about a 15 minute drive to the Franconia Springfield metro station, so you can visit DC from there fairly easily. Used to be a trolley from the mall to the station. Don't know if that's still so these days .

Edit to add:

I'd call the campground,  first. Sometimes nonelectruc is tents and popups, only. We've been admitted to tents and pop-ups only , in some campgrounds,  as our trailers are so small. Other times, no.
