Camping at the RV SuperShow Tampa

One of the biggest RV shows in the southeast is held at the State Fairgrounds outside Tampa each January.

We met up with Pete and his smiley dog Oscar to visit the show this year. The show was fun, and the weather turned so nice that we stayed two nights dry-camping in the grassy parking long instead of the one night we'd planned. During the day, the lot is full of cars, but after the show closes, we had a huge field for Oscar to run around in. Last night, a Casita from Washington joined us in our little fiberglass egg section. No campfire, but we grilled on Pete's awesome little Coleman, and enjoyed a lot of fun conversation after the show. We only wish more Olivers could have joined us. The cold weather is finally gone, and temps in the mid-70's made it especially nice to walk around the show and thaw out after our two weeks of bitter Florida cold.

Maybe next year?

Sadly, we took only a few photos. Perhaps Pete can post a few?

Well, I didn't take any in the actual showroom area, but I managed to get a few of our egg camping outside the humongous show . . .

It's almost time for the 2012 RV Supershow in Tampa. Is anybody going to be around for it besides us?

We've dry-camped in the parking lot several years, and enjoyed the show. Had a great time two years ago when Pete joined us for camping, as well as a Scamp from out west...

If you're going to be in the area, here's a link:

Paul and I have decided to dry camp again at the RV Supershow in Tampa, at the Fairgrounds, in January. The show is open to the public 14 to 18th. We really enjoy the comraderie of the dry campers after the show closes. $20 a night for dry camping. An attendant comes around and collects after the show closes.

Anyone interested in joining us? We'd love to make it an egg enclave. Especially love it if some more Olivers joined us.
