SNIP As stated each of these are hand built and as such Oliver has demonstrated time after time their willingness to work with each individual buyer, to an extent, so if there is something specific you want on your trailer just ask.
I agree with everything you said but I have to comment on the above item.
Oliver will certainly talk to you about doing different or weird stuff; that is a very unusual position for an RV manufacturer. However there is NO guarantee that they will agree. They have steadfastly refused to do several things for me – mainly the very common Dexter Spring Over Axle suspension lift and converting the black water space to fresh water storage as part of the Natures Head package.
The smaller stuff that I asked for, like adding an extra 12 volt switched circuit, and wiring in a Garmin backup camera, they agreed to, but excessive installation cost made me decline and I will do most of that stuff myself after delivery. I am lucky in that I am willing and skilled at that; many buyers do not have that option.
Anything that will disrupt the work flow of the production line will be done after it is built, by the Service Department. While that is good for Oliver as a company, it is bad for a customer since it involves significantly more labor time since they have to open things back up and fish plumbing or wires through places that would have been dead easy a month before. I sure wish they could figure out a simple way to add extra items during the build, but that may never happen.
For several items I have been promised that further research will be done and they will get back to me. Silence…… It is obvious when they really don’t want to do your weird mod, so accept that and figure out who to take it to after delivery.
They readily agreed to install an Air Command AC unit in place of either of the two choices. That really pleased me. They did warn that there were downsides (inside condensate drain would not work, separate thermostat required) but I consider those to be minimal compared to the big benefits.
Don’t think I am bitter. I really like the product and the buying experience is great. Could it be much better? Sure, but my extremely high expectations are unrealistic for a company trying to turn out product on time, and to make money at the same time.
