Ease of handling the elite for a girl

I currently have a 15 ft T@B  with full bath, indoor kitchen.  It handles well.  Use a Mercedes SUV 550 as TV. I'm interested n up grading to larger camper and specially a larger bathroom.  I'm thinking the elite would work.  I would like to hear from elite owners about any towing cautions, general maintenance, winterizing.  Do you think a lil 'ol lady can handle it.  I also want to get to see, touch and taste one before I buy.

Regardless  of being male or female, the Oliver is built for comfort, ease of handing and low maintenance.  If you have a physical disability or impairment that would cause you to be unable to complete a necessarily task, you will find the folks at Oliver very accommodating.  As an example, I had Polio as a child and have limited use of my right arm.  The standard features of an Oliver are considered luxuries on other trailers and unavailable or many others.  I do not have to go under the carriage to level my trailer.  I can stand in one place and level the entire trailer by pressing three buttons.  I could have paid less $$$$ for a trailer, would have been able to use it less and it would have been much more work.  I would advise you to contact the sales office and get a brochure and price list. I was able to have my trailer built with everything I needed to travel cross country and return for 4+ weeks on my maiden voyage.  Ollie is well built, easily maintained and very easy to pull.  I have the Elite, the smaller unit and love it.

Good luck

Annie,

At the top of the forum page, click on the "see an Ollie" section, who knows, there may be one close to where you live. We had no such luck when we were looking, so we made the trip to the factory, and seen the build process, from the ground up. And glad we did.

We have the Elite and love it.  You will find it easy to use, very comfortable and we think you could handle it.  We live in central Utah, so showing you ours may be a bit far, but if you want to come we will be glad to show it to you.

Hi Annie,

I have the LE 2 and am new to towing a trailer.  TV is a 2016 F-150 and it handles very well.  I would advise you get the rear mounted camera option.  It acts like a rear view mirror for traveling on the road and for backing in.  I would imagine that the difference (from the T@B) would be in HEIGHT and WIDTH.  The Elite looks a bit taller and wider than the T@B.   Before picking up the Elite 2 I was concerned about the view in the standard side mirrors .  The F-150 and the LE2 are the same width and the visibility in the side mirrors is good.  I don't have the tow mirrors.   Check your width on the MB 550 and if you are 6' 6" or wider, you should have good mirror vis.

If you take things slow and steady you should be fine.  This is more of a brains vs. brawn issue so the girls just might have the advantage here.  :-)

Best of Luck,

Scotty

Annie,

I tow my Elite II with a VW Touareg TDI. I've towed it almost 8,000 miles this year, all solo. Easy towing, easy to get settled at a campsite and easy to break camp to leave. I hadn't towed a travel trailer since I was 20 years old and I started towing the Oliver at age 66. No issues/no problems!

Hi Annie Oakley.  I am a female, and former Casita 16 foot owner and fell in love with the Oliver.  The folks at Oliver, Anita and the rest are always so helpful in making my decision (with no pressure) to own an Oliver.  The Oliver is quite a bit heavier than the Casita, and the T & B, but it really tows nicely.  I have a "one of a kind" Oliver Sport 17 ft.  My Oliver weight is very close to the elite and I live near Lake Texoma.  You could look at mine, and it might be helpful and you could even try a tow with it.

The Elite is much richer in amenities and extras. Would be glad for you look if it will help in any way.  Of course, I going to be jealous of your Elite!

I am vacationing in south fork, co.  Love RVing. My first time. I have a T@B and bathroom is soooo small.  Need more room. I would like to see your olley. My email is apipad@helpsource.com. Live in Wichita Falls.  I'll be back home 9/24. Perhaps if you would send me your direct email we can work out a mutual time for me to come see.  Thanks so much.
