Legacy Elite II vs Airstream and Escape Three trailers, three different ways of making a shell
Two of these are molded fiberglass and one is riveted aluminum. The part worth understanding is that the two fiberglass trailers are not molded the same way, and that difference is easier to see than to read about.
Three shells, three methods
Each manufacturer describes its own construction, and the three descriptions are genuinely different from one another. None of what follows is a judgment on any brand. It is how each one is put together.
Airstream

The wall carries rivets and panel seams as part of the design.
Escape
Escape 21Molded fiberglass, formed in two pieces and joined at a belt line. It is the classic moulded-egg approach and it produces a light trailer.
Two pieces means one wall, with insulation applied to the inside face of it.
Oliver
Legacy Elite IIMolded fiberglass, formed in four pieces, two inner and two outer, bonded into a single structure.
Four pieces means two walls, with insulation and an air gap in the cavity between them, and the tanks and plumbing running inside that space.
Fiberglass does not mean one thing
Shoppers narrow to fiberglass and then treat every fiberglass trailer as the same category. They are not. A two-piece moulding and a four-piece moulding produce different walls, and the wall is where the insulation, the plumbing and the tanks either live or do not.
This is the easiest thing on the whole comparison to check in person. Open an exterior locker on each trailer and look at the wall section. You will see one skin or you will see two.
- One wall, two pieces Insulation goes on the inside face of the shell. Tanks and plumbing are typically mounted below the floor or inside the cabin.
- Two walls, four pieces Insulation and an air gap sit in the cavity between the inner and outer shells. The tanks and plumbing run inside the structure.
- What to ask either way Where is the insulation, where are the tanks, and where are the joints. Three questions, and every manufacturer will answer them.

Four things to check on all three
Ask these of Oliver too. Every answer is on a manufacturer's own spec page.
- How many pieces is the shell? That tells you whether the wall is single or double.
- Where does the insulation sit? Inside the cavity, or applied to the inner face.
- Where do the tanks run? Inside the structure, or under the floor.
- What is the tongue weight? Then check your vehicle's payload, which is the number that usually decides it.
