  1. A couple of months ago I posted about wanting to flip the cabinet door above where the coffee pot is. It's finally done (almost). Every step was a two person job. Three wonderful people helped me. I dragged my feet a bit because, honestly, I loved having it open. But it was a pain when moving. Scrapped the old calking and glue off with plastic blades. Cleaned off lingering stuff with acetone. Removed the door from the frame. Flipped the frame upside down and glued it back on using 3M 4000 adhesive. Note, the frame is flexible and wanted to sag, getting it right was tough. The door fits tighter than I'd like but it closes. Screwed the door back on. What a pain. Tiny little screws that aren't magnetic and there is nothing to brace the door on while trying to get the screws started. Because of the curve of the ceiling, the hook had to be placed out aways. Right now it's just being kept open with a couple of bent paperclips until I figure out what's best to use. Here's the finished product:

  2. I had to get out the tape measure for this one. The height of the top of the door is 5'10", plenty of clearance for me (5'7 ½") but a problem for taller folks. I thought the ceiling would stop it from going much higher but when we held the door up, it had plenty of clearance. Looks like it's back to the drawing board. In the photo, my index finger is pointing to where a hook would go on the ceiling.
  3. I've tracked down the hinge that was used on my old trailer. Ideally, this is the hinge I'd like to use. (Or try to use). https://rvandmarine.com/product/dgn-rv-2856-cabinet-door-hinge/
  4. My coffee pot is just under the cupboard and my coffee supplies (coffee, sweetener, cups, filters) are in the cupboard, so the door is right in my face when I'm making coffee. (Yes, I'm serious about my coffee). In the trailer I had before the Oliver all of the cupboard doors opened upwards and I loved it. It's the only trailer I've had that I never hit my head on.
  5. Because I had some, I tried alcohol. Softened it right up. Still a bit of rubbing but not nearly as bad as I thought it might be.
  6. That hook is very much like the one I'll put on the ceiling. Except those are a nice unobtrusive clear and the ones I have on hand are silver.
  7. I've pretty well given up on a hinge, and will attach a hook to the ceiling and a chain to the latch.
  8. When I was at Oliver they referred me to you and you've been very helpful. Thank you!
  9. There is residue on the trailer and on the door. There are 6 little strips of thick double faced tape. I'm going to leave them on as a guide for how thick the new adhesive needs to be and will put a little strip of double face tape on them to help with the stickiness. I'll give the hair drier a try and mineral spirits too. Thanks.
  10. Before I even started taking the door off I put a ticket in asking what adhesive was used and did they have any recommendations on how it could be done. This was the reply: Hey Peggie, I do not know of anyone that has done this and do not know what would be needed to make this possible. The door trim could have been mounted with a couple of different things. Three things could have been used Velcro, caulked, or 3m double sided adhesive strips. This would be a question I would recommend posting on Facebook or the forum to see if anyone has done this. Regards, Mike Sharpe So here I am. And you have all been wonderful.
  11. The command strip would absolutely be suited to hang the door from. I already have a hook that I'll use, or at least start out with. It's one of those suction things. Bigger and more intrusive to the eye than a command strip, but on hand.
  12. The idea of a hinge is looking more and more remote. The hook on the ceiling might become permanent. Thank you for the kind words.
  13. I'm overwhelmed with the outporing of suggestions. Thank you, Thank you! Fortunately this page is saved and I'll be able to refer back to it. There is still a lot of scraping to do before the door can go back on. There's probably a solvent that would work but they're so often toxic that I don't want to use it in this small space. Once the wall and the door are prepped I'll take the rubbery stuff that was used to stick it on originally to Home Depot and ask if they know what it is. Then it will be time to figure out how to work around these curved walls.
  14. This is what was on the cupboards in my last trailer. I don't know what they're called. But I hope to find something like it.
  15. The Ceiling is curved where a latch might be most conveniently put. The picture is what I think I will do. At least right away. The hook is at the closest flat point on the ceiling. I'll just put a small decorative chain on the door handle and continue to look at hinge options.
  16. I looked at the cupboard after reading your post and there is no way to reach where the second magnet would need to go. Unfortunately.
  17. The little plastic scrapers are exactly what I started out with. When my friend came over he btought a couple of much heavier duty plastic scrapers. I don't know yet what I'll use to hold it up. I'll start out with a hook on the ceiling and a loop around the door handle. I don't believe it would be a good idea to drill into the door so the hinge would need to be held on with double faced adhesive.
  18. Yes. That is exactly what I want to do.
  19. I asked a while back about flipping the cupboard door above stove. With the help of a friend we took the door off. Because of the age of my trailer, other doors may not be mounted the same way. But here's what mine looks like. The thin strands are the clear calking around the door. The thicker ones appear to be a thick adhesive. The fellow who helped me does not believe it is butyl tape. The door has some pieces of double faced tape on it also. I'm guessing they tried to mount it with the double face tape and it wasn't enough so the added the adhesive. The picture of the opening showes the interesting square corner. Sweet Olivia 2014 Hull #53 Twin bed LEII
  20. Thank you. I've taken a screen shoot of your post to refer back to.
  21. Yup! They're sneeky that way.
  22. Thank you, I saw your post when I did a search. The hinge you used looks large for the little door but I made note of both of the hinges you mentioned.
  23. I wish they would. My last trailer had doors that opened up. The only trailer I never hit my head on. 🙂
  24. I would like to remove the cupboard door above the sink, flip them over and reinstall them so that the door swings up, not down. I would also like to put on the kind of hinge that holds the door open. Has someone done this? Do you know what kind of adhesive was used to mount the door? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Peggie Hull #53 2014.
