This will be our first Rally and only our third trip in our Ollie. We’ve kept our reservations and hope to (safely) meet some fellow Ollie owners.

Update: Two weeks ago we drove to Plains, GA and took possession of our new OLEII. It is a 2016 and had only 6000 miles on it. It is in pristine condition and we couldn’t be happier. We found it here in the Classified area of this forum. We took it to Roosevelt State Park for it’s maiden voyage this past weekend. We have reservations for a site at the Rally in September and can’t wait to me some fellow Oliver Owners.

When we had a 30ft SOB (Some other brand) camper I had a custom tray welded to the tongue and used two LowPro Lockdown plates to mount our Honda Companion Generators to the front of the camper. The setup functioned quite well for the occasional dry camping that we did.
Noise was not really a problem for us, but the camper had a front bedroom and the vibration was enough to keep us awake.
How much vibration does this setup transmit to the camper? Is it noticeable?

We've had the 2000W Honda Companion Generators for 10 years and have had no problems with them.

Heat is the main ingredient to remove decals, this is for decals that are somewhat new, but even good quality decals can be removed 10 plus years old. Sun light works great and if the outside temperatures are in the 80's plus a heat gun or hair dryer will probably not be needed, but they will speed up removal. Just work the edge of the decal with your fingernail to start the removal process, I would stay away from sharp metal objects as they can scratch the fiberglass, or in the case of painted vehicles the paint. Pull slowly when removing, it's going to take sometime, but that's how they will turn loose, a good slow pull of the decal at a 45 degree back against it is how it will come off the best. Remember the older the decal the longer it's going to take to remove it. Sometimes the decal glue will stay on the surface, you will need something like GooGone to remove it, there are professional cleaners that automotive paint supplies sell, but I would go into that.
Has anyone ever removed the stripes on the side of the camper? If I purchased a used OTT and the stripes just happened to be the same color as those used by my college football teams rival, they might have to come off.

My ideal setup would be to have the portable version, but mount it in the trailer next to my MultiPlus, keeping the plug connections. That way, I could easily bypass it if needed, and even keep my current PI portable as a backup.
I agree. Best of both worlds. No one can "borrow" it and easy to swap out if there is a problem.

Like a lot of folks, my previous campers have given me the opportunity to have something to tinker with and improve. As an engineer, I just can’t help but want to try to “make improvements”.
I was reading through the Oliver Support site and came across the information on the Oliver’s integrated surge protector that has a display unit for showing error codes to indicate various power issuesI was wondering if anyone has replaced the Progressive surge protector with a “smart” one that will talk to an app on your phone, tablet or smart watch.
A quick Google search revealed one made by Hughes Autoformers in California (https://hughesautoformers.com) (I’m not affiliated with them in any way).
Here is a video showing how one guy integrated one into their Class A-

Once we swapped out our mattresses for cushions, however, that changed and it feels like true sitting area
Thanks for that post. Sorry if this has been asked before. Do you use anything to supplement the cushions for sleeping? A memory foam topper? Or something similar.

Overland,
As hopeful Oliver owners, we are struggling with the decision between the Standard and the Twin LEII. One of the reasons is that we often camp with friends and our camper would probably be the gathering place for indoor activities when the weather does not allow, for example, a rousing game of dominoes.
The Standard floorplan with the large table would meet that need quite well, but as others have mentioned there are drawbacks to that layout.
This modification seems to bridge the gab between the two options, allowing you to have your cake and eat it to.
I do have a question for you. Do you ever use the lagun table with visitors in your camper?
How well does that work?
Does it feel like you are sitting on the edge of a bed when you are sitting around the table?
Thanks!

Once it starts raining the dogs get moved to their kennels in the back of the Land Cruiser. Two wet and muddy dogs get to be too much. Often at the start of the day when they are rested and wound up they are too much and I put them in their kennels just to get a break from their constant energy while I get ready for the day.
They also get left in the kennel until I can go over them well for ticks. Even though I have a tick plan, on a good day they can each carry a few dozen ticks into the Oliver. Yuck!
Have a plan B for kenneling the dogs if you decide to get an Oliver. In my situation its too small for two active dogs and two adults 100% of the time.
Thanks KenB.
How does your LC do pulling the LE II? We have an '05 LC so using it as a tow vehicle would not be an option. We would have to use or tow vehicle from our other campers, a 2009 Chevy HD Diesel 2500. Would entertain upgrading our '05 LC to an '08 or newer if we got some feedback that it would tow an Ollie LE2 just fine.

A used Airstreams is a risky purchase. Do your research well, Google loose rivets, water leaks, rot, floor replacement, hail damage, polishing aluminum, screwed together interior, etc. Ollies are impervious to all those “features”. Welcome to the forum.
Yes, the more I research the airstreams, the less appealing the "shiny" land yachts become.

What does your user name signify? Are you a chemist like my favorite muppet Beaker?
beaker is a handle I've used online before that is a reference to my name (B)ryan Kerr... B. Kerr.. hence beaker. It is also a nod to that muppet character, as he is one of our favorites as well. My wife is a microbiologist and science teach and her beaker figurine (of Beaker) can always be found close by.

How big are your doodles, and do they stay where they are supposed to? We have two 40 pound Australian Labradoodles, who are not obedient enough to not get in the way constantly. Ollies have a rather narrow isle width, think about having to work your way around larger animals while doing chores. Consider dealing with a muddy or soaking wet animal after a night potty break. Consider what to do with them when the weather is foul and nobody can go out.....
The doodles are 50# each. They will obey as long as they are indoors. Outside though, they have to be on a leash as they have not had any advanced obedience training yet.

My wife and I have been looking for our “downsizing” camper since the kids went off to college. We had been contemplating getting a used 23 or 25 foot Airstream when I came across the Ollie when doing a Google search for “4 season camper”. We live in Jackson, MS so the Ollie factory was just a quick trip up the Natchez Trace so we did the factory tour last Spring. I was blown away by the quality of the Ollie. We didn’t pull the trigger then for several reasons. One of which was wondering if we could camp in an Ollie with two Golden-doodles. I’m back doing research again on the Ollie. Just can’t get out of my head how well they are built. So if you see a post from me it’s most likely a question to help us decide on a purchase.

As a hopeful future Ollie owner I’d be interested to know what “upgrades” you are contemplating.

For those of you that will be keeping their camping reservations, would you mind sharing which spot you will be in. It is quite a large campground from what I understand and it would be nice if we could all be relatively close (if possible). We will be on E-12, but would gladly move to another spot if it it is available and closer to the majority of our fellow Ollie Owners.
